Suzanne, I'll bet you were miserable. The big game going on and you couln't watch it. You should have told me I would have watched it for you. I turned it on and watched a little of it and then got insterested in something else. Even OP managed to stay up until halftime. I went to bed at about 8 o'clock. Suzanne I hope the people at the wedding knows what kind of sacrifice you made for them. Talk about above and beyond. Doris now that you talk about you brothers I think I remember at least one of them. My brother G. J. finished Cathedral in 1946. He just died recently. I remembered they lived across the street from you, that's what brought them to mind. Didn't Winne Mae Monteleon live next door to you? I think we are the same age. Gene Cella and Brumby Sessions went to Cathedral for awhile. I don't remember when they went to Lafayete High but I do know they finished there. Any of you remember Karl Lutgring and Andre Dubuse. Well I don't know about Karl but Andre ended up quiet a accomplished writer. He died a few year ago as a result of Diabetes. I think he had both of his legs amputated. You know folks we have such good memories. I think we lived in the best of all times. Happy New Year.

Thanks to O.P., I can write from California where I have been reading all of the messages without remembering the password, etc. He sent it to us!!! I was wondering if any of you remember taking Ball Room Dancing at the Townhouse or a house near it. I know that Stewart and I did and the dance instructor followed us home and my mother was so upset to think that he did. I'm so sorry that we won't be there Tuesday. Have a good time and take pictures. Happy New Year to all of you reading the letters.

Doris, it sounds like Charles is related to all of Lafayette. Is the Aimee Voorhies you talked about the lady who lived on Lamar Street? If she is, then Charles is related to my Ex. We'll have to look into that. WELL, I was wild last night. I had a wedding at 7 o'clock so for the first half I had to listen to the LSU game on the radio. It was very hard to keep my cool and not yell. Flynn should have been the quarterback all season. I'm trying to find a picture of the old Town House.

Rickey, I have two of those books called "Images De Lafayette". I looked in both of them last night hoping to find a picture of the Townhouse that I was talking about, but couldn't find it. I did find a picture of your Dad and Gerald's dad taken in 1937 at your dad's cleaner's. By the way you resemble your dad. Also a picture of my brother and Ruth Butcher when they were king and queen of Lafayette High's may festival in 1942. The only thing the book calls him "Jimmy Hebert" instead of Jimmy Landry. In both books there are pictures of Charles' mom, Rose Aimee Moss Provost. Both were when she was a little girl. One of her family at the house I was talking about across from Cathedral and another of her with three other siblings in a cart being pulled by a goat.

by the way while I'm at it, HAPPY NEW YEAR. May all of us have a happy and HEALTHY New Year. Every year is a little more insteresting. Thanks again OP for all you do. You have added pleasure to our 'old age". Those of you who have given a "yes" to the dinner on Jan.3rd don't forget. Put it down on your calander. It starts a 6 o'clock at Don's Downtown. Those of you who have asked me to call you and remind you I will on Jan. 3rd.

OP just looke at the photos you sent of the Townhouse. It kinda looks like the one in the oil Center. I don't know about the pool. I think the one in the Oil Center had a tennis court in the back. It stands right next to the Lafayette Auditorium. There was a theater right next to it. It was the Dollar Cinima. It's gone now. How about this one. How many if any were in the Children's Carnival. I think I was one of them. I was a page. It was held in the old boys gym on the SLI campus. I know the girls probably took part in it but i think the guys were mostly from the public schools, like Hamilton. Mrs. Gloria Knox was in a whole bunch of things. She was big in the Louisiana Oil Exposition and the Townhouse things. I guess that was her thing. Bill Patton was her son. Suzanne didn't she live in the back of your house on Souvenier Gate. Seems to me that is where she lived. Brumby Sennions use to live on Oleander St. That is in back of Suzanne house also. OP I have a pictorial of the Lafayette History. When we are together I will let you "borrow" it. Maybe you can do a quiz or something on the computer. It is the one Dan Guilliot put out for the Lafayette Parish Courhouse. If need be I will send it by mail to you. Let me know.

Believe it or not, I remember the old Town House Building on Buchannan St.. Suzanne knows that my Mom had a lot of dealings with them (and Mrs. Gloria Knox) with the Mardi Gras Costumes. But I never set foot in it myself. Gerald, I'm looking at the satellite photo on http://maps.google.com and I can't quite pick out the old Town House building where you say it is today. I think I see it, but I need a "ground truth" photo to make sure. So your job, if you accept it, is to go get a ground truth photo of that place and email it to me. Now that you are a pro at emailing photos that ought to be easy for you. We could do a little Lafayette History section on the web site too, if someone has some of the old photos. I googled "Lafayette Townhouse" the other day and found a page of photos from some girl (college type I think) of the townhouse pool, but it looked like it was the one off of South College. Was there on there at one time? Here is the link http://www.s-e-u-l.org/SEUL/townhouse.html

I hope I get over this by Tuesday night. I had chills along with the high fever -----aspirin has knocked the fever down. Those northern germs that Nick and Eliz. and Rach carried down here are hard for my resistance to fight. Nick went home this morning and Rachael is my "doctor." I gave her a doctor's kit for Christmas and she loves to give me shots----as well as play with her "beeper". Its been a behive of activity around here. Hope to see all of you next week. I came to Lafayette in our freshman year. I don't remember a Townhouse behind J.C. Penny's. All I remember is the one behind Abdalla's----Carleen, Gayle and Suzanne had a graduation luncheon party there in May, 1955 ----do any of you girls have pictures of that event? I do remember that the Townhouse had a swimming pool and it was way out by the airport. Do any of you remember going there ----I went a couple times with a date, but for the life of me can't rememgber who. It was the "Cat's Meow" to belong to the Townhouse. My family couldn't afford it, but it was fun to go to events there. If the Townhouse was once behind J.C.Penny's was it in a house or building????? I like to read all the memories. Betty

One more bit of trivia about the Towne House. In 1976 I had an office at 711 S. Washington St. I remember Jeff Moss and Tim Bradley opened their law practice in what I believe was the old Towne House building that was behind Abdallas and relocated down the street from my office. The year was late 70's or early 80's. They have since gone there seperate ways but the building remains. Anyone wishing to view it for the mini reunion would take Vermilion toward Cathedral and turn right onto Washington and it is at the left just past the bank parking lot. I also remember the Azalea courts just as everyone remembered. But I don't remember eating a WHOLE LOAF of bread! I must have chewed for days.

The only one I remember is the one on Buchanan behind Abdalla's. You guys must be older than myself. OP should have something from his mother telling the dates of when and where they were. I never went to either one. I have heard good things about the new one in the oil center. The resturant I have heard much like what Suzanne said was pretty but the food was expensive and not too good. He won't make it in Lafayette without good food. There are too many good resturants here. Have anyone of the locals tried the new Bonefish Grill. I understand their food is very good. It is in the high end of the scale moneywise. I guess it's to keep the rifraft out of River Ranch Subdivision. I understand my nephew who has taken over my shop is moving away from the City Club because the City Club wants more space. He will move in the structure that is being built by the Bonefish Grill. These are new memories for the people growing up now. Maybe they will talk about it 50 years from now. Have a Happy New Year and keep safe.

I just talked to Patsy and she confirmed what I had said previously about the Old Townhouse being in a big old house behind Montegomery Wards. I admit, I remember the one in back of Abdalla's, but I am sure this other was way before that. I think it must have been in 1950 or 1951. I know we were very young. Mrs. Cella use to drive us because the guys couldn't drive. Patsy said she has a picture of us on the stairway at a Christmas Party. As for the one behind Abdalla's that is where Carleen and Phil had their wedding reception. Does anyone remember that? And that was in 1958. Henrietta, do you remember where was the building?

I remember the Town House on Buchanan. I think the original owners of the house were the Boustany's. It had a big porch on the front. When the new building was constructed there was a third floor for the gamblers. I heard that many thousands of dollars were won and lost up there (gossip) Mrs. Gloria Knox was a neighbor of ours and they were very involved with the club. She would tell my mother some wild stories about the happenings at the TownHouse. We had dinner there for my birthday in October and it was wonderful but they have lost their chef and it isn't so good. I love the way they renovated the inside. It is very expensive to eat there and we looked into having a luncheon there for a club I belong to and it was way too high. I hope he doesn't price himself out of business. He, meaning Art LeBlanc, the owner.

Ah! old times. I remember the old Townhouse. It was in back of Abdalla's on Buchanan St. Montgomrey Ward was on Jefferson St. next to the Royal Theater and that was next to J.C.Penny's. Do you remember the things they sent up with the money? That was neat. My grandmother and grandfather lived down the street from the Townhouse. They lived on the corner next to the old telephone building and across from KVOL. I remember when I used to spend the night there I used to go to the studio and watch the early show with Tom Pears and Hugh, gee I've forgotten his last name. I'm having a senior moment. Remember Morgan Linsey's and Woodworth? The lunch counter at Morgan Linsey's. I used to use it for a short cut to get to my grandparents house. Lots of good memories there.

Henrietta, do you mean the Town House Club that was behind Montgomery Wards? Yes, I remember going to parties there with Gene Cella, Brumby Sessions, and Tommy Quoyser. Remember? Patsy, and Gayle? I think we were probably in the Eighth grade then. Also The Parkerson's are relatives of Charles. In fact the property where the Azalea Courts was,was the property where my mother-in-law grew up. Many, many years ago the family of Alfred Moss lived there in a big old house. Her family. Her mother was Aimee Voorhies from St. Martinsville. And her aunt Ada married a Parkerson.

Noted in the guestbook mention of the Azalea Court which was located across from Cathedral School on St. John Street, owned by the Parkersons. It was probably one of the few hotel/motels in Lafayette, besides the Gordon Hotel. Remember as a young student, visiting the Parkersons and daughter Lenore in their plush apartment upstairs from the Azalea Court office, in the summertime going to the movies with Lenore and meeting her fiance at the time, Bennett Voorhies. Does anyone remember the old Lafayette Townhouse club downtown? Think the current Townhouse Restaurant near Heymann Center is a copy of its architecture/design. On Sundays, Mom played the piano at the old Townhouse (in the 1940's)with my Dad and brothers there. We kids had the run of the place, even playing the nickel slot machines in the back hallway. Also, do you remember Jack's by the courthouse, Shamrock ice cream parlor and Massa's bakery across the street?

Anyway Marshall is coming in for Christmas and we are planning a dinner "dutch treat" at Don's Downtown for 6 PM that evening. We have a bunch of people coming and would like you and Lita to make it. There will be most of the people from the reunion both girls and boys. If ya'll can make it let me know. I have to let Don's know about how many will attend so they can set up tables. It is strictly a happening, very casual, nothing special. Marshall didn't come to the reunion so I think everyone want to see him. Please come and take a break from all you "work". Greetings. Lita and I have been pretty well isolated on Grand Isle. I am the plumber, carpenter, cabinet maker, janitor and painter. I do not do roofs. The house on Grand Isle is down to studs and ceiling joists. We have one bathroom working and we have water and recently got electricity. You can not hire any one to work. The ones that are available are available because they are charge too much and have priced themselves out of the market. It will be March or April until we finish. But only then if we are lucky. Both of my sons had extensive damage to their houses on Grand Isle and have to do their own work. My oldest bought a damaged camp and is working in it. He will rent it and get great tax breaks. We have been living in our camper. I am sore. It has been a long time since I have worked this hard. Lita an I surfaced on the 20th to celebrate or 46th anniversary. Neither one of us thought that it would have lasted this long. In fact, neither one of us thought that we would have lived this long. We are in Larose for Christmas and all are pledged to be there except my youngest. He is off shore. Lafayette Sanatarium. I was born there and had my tonsil taken out. I avoided hospitals until I was an adult. Now I seem to be their sole support. What is going on on the third?

The Lafayette Sanitarium was THE HOSPITAL in Lafayette. Didn't your sisters work there, Marshall? My first three children were born there. The Lafayette Medical Group had an office building on the corner in front of the hospital. I know Carleen remembers because she spent a long time recouperating from her accident in that hospital. The new hospital (Lafayette General) was opened around 1963 or 64 but I think that the doctors offices had moved to Coolege Blvd. a few years before that. Most of the old doctors have either retired or have died. We don't have physicians like that any more. Some of their sons have become doctors and practice here. I don't remember the Azalia Courts.

OK I have another one for ya'll. The Azalia Court across from Cathedral. I can remember we used to go there and get treats like candy and other things when the candy store wasn't open. I can also remember another occasion when Gerald bet someone he could eat an entire loaf of bread. He won but had to go the the courts to buy some Tums to settle his stomac. I was there all during our school years. How about the Lafayette Sanatouium (?) across the street from school. Now it's Lafayette General. I remember I had my appendix taken out there by Dr. Don Willimas when I was in the 5th grade. It was where the ball players went to get their physicals. I remember Billy Trotter went ther with a broken arm during football pratice. Brumby Sessions went there when he broke his nose during a baseball practice. He had a bad hop by the ball and it hit him in the nose. Lots of memories. I told Barbara that we really are getting old when we start talking about those old times. I think OP is right when he says that you can tell you are getting old when Happy Hour means a nap.

I hope the room can hold all those people. My plan is this. We will have drinks and conservation from 6 to 6:30 and then order dinner. That way the waitress can get all the orders adn we can visit some more. My plans have changed and I will go to Arkansas from the day after Christmas to the Friday before New Year's day. I just spoke to my sister Martha and she said that her classmates have been helping those Mt. Carmel sisters with money and food and are getting together a Christmas basket to give to them. Maybe after Christmas we can do something for them also.

Good morning. I just read the messages about the old sisters of Mt. Carmel and if you girls want to invite them to our "happening" you are more than welcome. I just have to know how many. Of course someone will have to pick up their tab for the evening. I think it would be a good time to get to see them and them to see ysll. Just a thought. I'm sre by now everyone is finished with the shopping. Barbara anb I find it easy. All we do is write checks or give cash. Our "little" ones would rather get something for themselvess. At least that is what they tell us. Later

Brenda, I didn't know Mother Dorothy had died. I did see that Sr. Gail Gallagher had died on the same day as Avis. The thought occured to me if they met each other on the way to heaven. I don't know if the trees in Lafayette or in Baton Rouge are as pretty this year as they are over here in the Woodlands. Everytime I go somewhere I have a hard time keeping my eye on the road. The trees here are just simply ablaze with color. The yellows and reds are just simply beautiful. The other day, on a cold, dreary, drizzley day I looked down the street, from my front window, and could have sworn the sun was out streaming through the leaves of three trees. The leaves on the trees were bright yellow. I don't know why some years we have such beautiful Autumn leaves and some years we don't. Someone said the other day it may be an indication of a Cold Winter to come. I am glad to hear Julian is doing better. My daughter,Pam, tried to get him to peform our Renewal of Marriage Vows for our 50th Anniversary, but it was at the time he was so sick.

Out of the clear blue sky (except it's raining), I received two Christmas card from the most unexpected sources. One was from Sister Ann Carmel Segura, O.Carm. Mine must be the only address she has. Anyway, she and 8 other retired sisters evacuated to Lafayette, and live next to Leo-Seton school. They hope to return to N.O. in about a year. She asked for prayers for Mother Dorothy, Sr. Gail Gallagher and Sr. Stella Marie Sellers who have died recently. Her address is: 500 St. Leo St., Lafayette, LA 70506. The other card was from Jim Broussard. O.P., do you remember him from the Newman Club? He said that he had retired and moved back to Lafayette from Los Angeles where he has been living for about 25 years. He is one of the nicest people I've ever known.

You guys. Who says the memory goes with age Wouldn't you like to be able to talk to some of the brothers that were there at the time. I bet they could tell som tall tales. Unfortunately that time has passed and we missed it. I think Bro. Edwin is the only on around that was there when we were there. He is at DeLaSall and I think we should one day a bunch of go visit him there. We don't have much time left. I tried to get him to come to the Big Reunion but he declined. He is in a wheelchair. He has had a stroke much like Barbara's. His right side I think has been affected. Anybody remembr Chic Webb. What was the girl he was dating while he coached us. I remember she was quiet a looker. She lived somewhere on the north side of town. What is KC something? I thank Bro. Ambrose for teaching me typing. Gerald should tell ua about some of the basketball trips he took with the high school team and the college team I understand they make quiet a story..

Yep I remember 6 man football behind the school. Wasn't Gerald Gerami's brother one of our studs? Melvin you are probably the only one old enough to remember that? I also remember playing both ways...offense and defense, I was a linebacker! Also practice twice a day in AUGUST..WITH NO WATER! We used to drink Pepto Bismo!! Now by law they have to give them water every 15 mins! They don't make them like they used to! OH! No face masks on helmets either!!! I was one of the first to get one because I broke my nose! A single clearn plastic bar across the front. Then the next year I think it was that face masks were required. Gerald, Larry could kick the ball over the Coulee! I was field goal kicker...we never kick one that I remember and back up extra point kicker...I remember kicking one in a Jamboree!!! Larry must have been sick?

Tiss the season for good old memory joging. Definitely not golf. Suzanne, I must have been 12 or 13 and returned home at about 14. I remember Daniel and I playing in the show with you and Gayle. I seem to remember the 6 man football and the times we played soccer on the playground. I think the Brothers from France brought that game to us but it did not stick. Again I remember Marshall kicking like a little bowling ball. Larry has me flaborgasted. "1950 Isenberg Hall dedication program" and "K.C.D. President". I have no clue. Please someone help us.

Oh, I forgot to mention, my older brother Melvin just told me that he played 6 man football for Cathedral and he remembers playing in a game that they beat Lafayette High 99 to 6. He got to play after it was 50 to nothing. This must have been in the 40s, I guess, before the war.

Larry I seem to remember 6 man football. I think we played in phy. ed. I remember my football days. I played center and was on defense because that is when we went both offense and defense. Well I was standing after a play not really playing attention when Chomper came and gave me a forearm across the mouth and cracked all my front teeth. Well that wss the end of my football days. I loved the sport but my teeth were worth more than that. Anyway I wasn't very good at it. I guess I just wasn't mean enough. I do remember how you used to boom the football but I don't remember Marshall kicking. Remember Bro. Ambrose and his tape. He would give you a six inch piece of tape to tape up your whole leg. Boy was he tight.

O.P., that tribute to all soldiers was beautifully done. How do I send it to my grandchildren? All of this reminiscing reminds me the I did something new this year and everyone seems to have enjoyed it. I e-mailed all of my children and my brothers and sisters and asked them to tell me about their early memories of Christmas. It was so much fun reading about my siblings memories because it stirred up my own. I was surprised that my children didn't mention any of the things that I thought (hoped) they would, but each had their own memories. Try it; you might enjoy it! Gerald, I believe they say: Mais Heaux! Heaux! Heaux!

Gardiner right around the corner from you house wasn't it? If I'm mistaken correct me please. If I remember your dad did deliver for my ded didn't he? Again correct me. I hadn't heard about Julian yet. Thanks for the update. I don't guess he will be at the Jan.3rd. dinner. I will check and see if he is out of the hospital yet. I do remember going the the SP playground behind the Brown News Building to play ball. I think it was baseball or softball. I think we were city champs that year. So many memories so little memory. Good tribute to the troops O.P. Thanks. Yep we had a great softball team Gerald...the City of Lafayette Little league. I remember those days really well. I also remember the football days...Larry Miller and I were kickers. Coach Boo Jones and Les Kennedy. Tommy Quoyser had ashma (sp?) and every time he ran over 20 yds the managers had to bring oxygen onto the field! I played guard and full back when we went to the single wing and they needed a blocking back...I remember the older guys coaching...and I remember Glenn coaching all of you in basketball, but not me!!! Oh well...maybe the cobwebs will clear! My the way, I just got word that Julian had a set back recently and had to be re-admitted to Lafayette General. He will begin rehabilitation therapy next week. When I was 12 my dad was in a terrible auto accident driving a Blue's Laundry van. He was hurt so bad that Lafayette did not have the medical capability to save his life. At the 11th hour my family decided to send him to Charity in N.O. and they saved his life. He was our first basketball Coach and a great one. In those days the older boys would participate in helping guide the young athletes. I also remember you being the pitcher on the softball team. You guys remember the touch football team? I think we have a picture somewhere in this web site. Help O.P. Sadie Hawkins is a blur for me and I think I was living with Daniel at the time so maybe no one asked us. Those were the good days. I don't remember who I married but I do remember that the "ring" was one of those plastic rings that people used to put around their chicken's leg. And you also got a "marriage certificate" ----for years I had a scrap book with that in it, but in one of the military moves (right before the Viet Nam War) a lot of my books, etc. were lost. Do you all remember those chicken rings and the certificate. I didn't move to Lafayette until the 9th grade so I don't know anything about the kitchen at Lafayette High. OK. here's another memory jogger. Does anyone remember the day camps that were held at Lafayette High in the summer? There wasn't a gym at that time.I think the city sponsored them. I remember having a chariot contest which I never won but it was fun. Like you, Marshall, I haven't thought about this stuff in years. The best memory that I share with my children is the aroma of burning leaves in the fall. We had two huge pecan trees in the front yard and it was my job to rake the leaves into piles and burn them.(can't do that now) I would have three or four piles going at the same time. I don't think those poor players had a gym of their own. I am not sure if Lafayette High had their gym then, but most probably they did. I wish I had a picture of our first, class basketball team. I remember Marshall and Daniel was on it and we played a game in Breaux Bridge aginst St Bernard. That was the first game I played in. Sue, the gym was designed for a parish in Alamogordo, N.M., but the pastor died and the new pastor put it on hold. The board of the B.R. CYO is looking at it now. The cold weather we've been having is a good indicator of what it would be like. It might prove impractical unless the perfect place is found, like in California--then you have to worry about earthquakes. I thought the glass backboards would stir up some questions. Rickey's memory is always pretty good, we took typing in our Freshman year, I think. So in the early 50's the gym was being built. That's 55 years ago, wow. They designed it to have stands on both sidelines and behind with a stage in the front. Some smart person asked that a see through backboard be built so that fans sitting facing the stage could see the game without interference. I believe they were the first one's installed in the State for High School. All other teams would come to the gym and marvel at them. Most of the schools had those simi-circle, fan shaped cheap backboards. We were so fortunate to have a palace like that to play in and the brothers took real good care of it. How about picking a date for the mini-reunion Rickey and let us know. Don's downtown would be more appropriate.

Betty I'll answer your question about Venice,LA...I put in the wrong state! I do that regularly on my snail mail! My worse FOPA was when a Marine clerk put my address as AL instead of LA when I first entered the Military and I had to file an income tax form for AL to get my money back!!!!

Rickey, it has always bothered me that they didn't preserve the Mt. Carmel School, but money is the driving force of everything these days and I guess the poor nuns needed the funds. The diocese should have purchased the property and used it for a retreat center or teenage meeting place---in August they could have used it to house the nuns that were evacuated from in and around New Orleans. At least we can drive by and see the buildings - I'm surprised Perry didn't tear Mt. Carmel down when they built his new church. The Baptist Church has quite a facility in and around our old school.
Lafayette has been very slow to save old historic things - particularly the oak trees. Remember those beautiful oaks around Toby's and the White Hut at 4 corners. Now is just an ugly, trashy paved corner parking lot.
Meeting the Mt. Carmel group for lunch - gotta run.Betty

I MIS-READ Gerald's note ------the word was BACKBOARD ---- NOT BLACKBOARD as I thought------------thanks for all the information. Was it made out glass of very strong plastic? Anyway, you think those are the same ones up there since the fifties?!!!!!!!! Lunch sounds good when Marshall is in Rickey. Just let us know the day and time. Betty

Op is you tiome clock working. I just read your messge to Betty about the backboard and it was much too early for you to be up. Old people like you should get a lot of sleep.I remember how "advanced" the glass backboard was in our new gym. I can still remember watching the gym go up while in typing class with Bro. Ambrose. We were way ahead of our time then. Now we and the girles from Mt. Carmel don't have a school. I wish that had never happened. Take care and watch all the Christmas traffic out there.

Betty, I'm sure Gerald will fill in with his story about the glass "BACKBOARDS" at the Cathedral Gym. I think they would have been called "high tech" back then, but the words "high tech" weren't even invented way back then. So that shows you how much we were ahead of the pack. But here is a picture of a glass backboard basketball goal:

I'll be in Lafayette from the 23rd of Dec. thru the 4th of Jan. The 28th is our family re-union, so that's out. Meetings with Ordination class and other groups are still in the planning stage! Would love to see as many of you as possible...so the mini reunion sounds the best...Que sera, sera!!!

I just got an e-mail from Marshall and he said he thought that a meal at either Don's would be great. I think Don's downtown would be more central to all of us. It will be a Dutch Treat meal. Any of the girls who would like to attend will also welcomed. This will be a husband and wife affair. Let me know if you are insterested and I will set up the date and time later when I find out if anyone is insterested. Marshall also suggested that we meet at noon to avoid all the Christmas Parties. I don't know when he will be in but I do know he is coming in for Christmas. Of course it will have to fit into his schedule because he is VERY BUSY while he is here. Let me know somnething. I will meet with him either way.

Well I just got a e-mail from OP asking me why I hadn't written to the class page. I guess I should do what he asked because he has done so much for me. We spent about 2 hours on the phone working with the computer and straightening a few things out. Finally he got to where he thought I could handle it. What's going on with all you guys. I heard from Marshall and he said he is coming during the Christmas holidays. Maybe the ones in town like Harvey, Donald, and Harvey and anyone else he is reading this can get together with him. He said he would call me if he could fit me into his schedule. The has so many people to visit I am luckey he can make time for me. I feel honored. Thanks Marshall... Let's hear from you all sometimes soon. Bye.

Welcome back Suzanne and Rickey. The more the merrier. I have the pictures covered O.P. Don't worry. Just finished playing golf and will attend my grandson's basketball game at St. Puis tonight. Life is good. Last Thursday I watched him play at the Cathedral gym. Have not returned there since graduation, what a thrill to see those glass backboards again.

Hey Rickey G. and Suzanne ----glad that you are back online. Billy and I and Carleen and Phil went to the Casino in Charenton last night. Had a delightful evening. We saw the Dolly Parton show. Its amazing to see that 60ish lady jumping around on stage. She is a tiny woman (except for her __?__s), has a wasp waistline and wears 5" looking heels. It was a great show and the dinner at Mr. Lester's restaurant was very, very good. And to top it off Carleen and I won a little money playing the slots. I didn't win as much as Carleen----she knows how to pick the slot machines----she must have a sixth sense or something.

I just wanted to say what a remarkable and beautiful woman Avis was. Her funeral was a wonderful celebration of her life. Her two daughter's gave a commendation as did her brother Stephen and Jackie Richardson. Father said that Avis had planned it all. We certainly will miss her.

I was just double checking the messages. I posted a message this afternoon about 2 or 3 that our classmate and dear friend, Avis, died this morning. For some reason it must not have gone through. Please check the Advertiser tomorrow for her obituary. A graveside service will be held here in Lafayette Wednesday. I hope this message goes through. Betty

Maugie called me about 1:45 this afternoon to tell me that Avis died this morning. She asked me to inform everyone. Funeral services will be in Houston at St. Cecilia Church Tuesday. Wednesday there will be a graveside service at the cemetery on Johnston Street where Paul, her husband, is buried. No one knows the time of that service yet. I imagine it will be in the Advertiser in the morning. This is a sad day because we have all lost a dear friend. Betty
