Hi Minette, ITS SO GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU. Its sounds as if you have fully recovered and are "good to go". Seems as if you and I have had a time of it. I am still on the mend from the amniodorone toxicity and hope to be back to 100% in the very near future. I just have to get off the steroids - they are doing a number on me. Carleen and Phil and Patsy and Howard had dinner with us Sat. night ----Carleen looks wonderful and needless to say she and Phil looked like the weight of the world had been lifted from their shoulders. We had a good time and had lots of laughs. Hope to see you soon. Betty

Venice , FL USA - Thursday, January 31, 2002 at 19:12:36 (MST)What beautiful little girls. It looks like there mabe 2 sets of twins, are there? Or are they just cousins and look so much alike? My guess is Minette's because she was the last one to write in the guestbook. Minette I am so glad to hear you are doing better and caught your problem in time. Well today is my first day off on my new schedule of working Mon. Tues. and Wed. I am suppose to be off tomorrow, but I have to sub. So I go back to work tomorrow.

USA - Thursday, January 31, 2002 at 07:38:53 (MST)Dear Classmates,
Henrietta B. called me yesterday to inquire about my health and recent surgery. Yes, I had a second open heart by-pass surgery on Oct. 17th,2001 just eight months after the first one.. I'm hoping for a healthier 2002. It was quite a shock that this was necessary again, but I am "on the mend" and I feel very lucky to have caught this in time. My advice to everyone out there is to heed the warning signs such as chest pain and pain in the left arm. Sometimes the signs of impending heart attack can be rather subtle, especially for women. Thanks for your concern. I have new knees and now new plumbing around my heart, I have my car keys back, my plastic cards in hand, and I'm ready to travel again. My scare came while Larry and I were dancing on a paddle-wheel boat out on Lake Tahoe. At first I thought I was just out of condition, but later learned that I had another blockage and was facing a heart attack unless I had the operation.
I'm so happy about the great news about Carleen and Betty.

Woodbridge, VA USA - Wednesday, January 30, 2002 at 16:01:08 (MST)Why aren't you all helping me out here with the sequences of the Mt. Carmel weddings ----I don't know where my first marriage fits in, but I was married Aug. 14, 1959 in New Orleans. And honeymooned in Acapulco.
Patsy and Howard married the week before I did ---I think it was Aug. 6, 1959
Carleen and Phil the year before.
Gayle and Robert: If you are reading this ---who were your attendants ----we couldn't remember who was in your wedding. What year was it?

But something without film----well, that kind of baffles me!!!!!!!! But as soon as I feel better and can get John, the Mac-Medic, here I will send you a picture or two.

Breaux Bridge , LA USA - Monday, January 28, 2002 at 08:18:20 (MST) Betty I hope that you are feeling better. It takes a while to come back. It is always a long hard trip. I will pray for you.
I am glad that you liked my description of the parade in St. Fancisville.
Brenda, I found St. Francisville by accident. The circumstances were macabre. If you are interested in horror stories, I will send you the whole story. When I was a prosecutor, I had an early morning hearing at Angola. St. Francisville was the nearest point of civilization. I spent the night in that hotel by the lake that is filled with Audubon prints. The hearing was postponed until the afternoon and I wandered around the town. I was fascinated by the old court house and great old homes behind the court house. Later I took Lita to see it St. Francisville and we discovered all of the old Plantation homes, that surround St. Francisville.
To Carroll Comeaux, I say Gelina.
Boo I hope that you are doing better.

It looks like Marella is having her 15 minutes of fame on
the Cathedral/Carmel web site. I had forgotten about her.
I dated her after Gerald did and I think Kearney did also.
Perhaps "Honk, if you dated Marella" bumper stickers are
next. She was a good dancer and I thought she was cool.
Maybe her memoirs will come out in book form causing some of us to run for cover. Later.

Jennings, LA USA - Thursday, January 24, 2002 at 13:57:53 (MST)Gerald, we did live on Buchanan St. That brick building was our original home and Buchanan St. was originally a gravel road. Mt Carmel was always across the street, but there was no gym until I was in high school. After the gym was built, there was a statue of Mary on the corner and I used to walk to my voice lessons, passing that statue and reciting "ejaculations" (remember those?) all the way to earn the certain number of indulgences which I needed. When the First Baptist Church was built on the corner of Lee, we weren't even allowed to look in the windows of the church. I don't know what my Mother was afraid of. We used to walk to the Jefferson Theater to go to the movies (11 cents, I think). When I was at SLI, our family moved to Oakview Blvd., behind Our Lady of Fatima Church. There were seven children in my family, four boys and three girls. Only Floyd still lives in Lafayette.

Venice, FL USA - Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at 13:45:37 (MST)Let's see if I can remember to answer everyone's questions. Betty, Marella Credeur did not go to Mt. Carmel. In fact, I don't think she even lived in Lafayette. You might know, Gerald. I just remember her name as my brother dated her. Gerald, Stewart and his wife live in Cottonport. She is a nurse and he is probably retired. His horse won a race recently in Texas so he was happy about that. One of his daughters was on the cover of a Yoga magazine and looked like every other model I've ever seen. Doris, I began with water colors but soon moved to oils which I find much better for my style of painting, which is copying other artist's work. Some day I might get brave enought to paint my own work. Marshall, I was at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette yesterday and saw and spoke with Huey. He has hardly changed a bit since high school. Were you the baby of the family? My brother, Floyd, and I were trying to sort out your family and where you lived, etc.

I graduated in May, 1955 and was married in Sept. 1955. Pam was born Nov. 1956. and so on. Thanks for all the compliments on my painting. You are so right Brenda watercolor is a hard medium. I still have so much to learn. And it takes so much practice. I don't know if I told you guys. But I am cutting my work week to 3 days. So mabe I will have more time to paint. Brenda, do you do watercolors?

USA - Monday, January 21, 2002 at 17:38:00 (MST)Doris you are a great artist. Pat fell in love with the picture too. Let's have some more when you retire. Also the pictures you sent of Pam resemble you, we think. It's hard to believe she would babysit our kids.e Happy to see Carroll Comeaux's participation. I actually owe him for our marriage. He and I doubled dated in 1958. He had a date with Pat and I had a date with Marella Credeur. I was a Junior at SLI and Pat was a senior at Mount Carmel. It was love at first sight for me. It took her a little longer and we will celebrate 42 years Tuesday in Bolixi Mississippi. I wonder who has been married the longest?

I just thought I would drop a line (remember that phrase)
to tell you how much I enjoy your web site. Gerald Reaux
turned me on to it last year and I've been monitoring it
ever since. Most of you won't remember me just like Betty
didn't remember Ray Landry (also class of '55). But then
why should any female remember any guy who was a year
BEHIND them in school. (Hoo boy, I'll catch heck for that
statement) But Marshall and O.P. remembered me and I was
best man at Gerald and Pat's wedding so I'm not exactly
anonymous. I've been gone for almost 40 years working in
New Orleans while living in Bay St. Louis, MS. but since
retiring I have come back to Cajun land and enjoying every
minute. I've been holding back on writing in response to
your letters because it was rumored that the class of '56
was planning it's own site but it hasn't happened.
Till then, though, I will continue to enjoy your comments
and letters because it reminds me of how fortunate we were
to be at Cathedral/Carmel.
See you later.

He should be able to give you more details on the Abbeville conection. Raymond Landry is one year younger than us and was O.P.'s across the street buddy in High School. We all played basketball together. Also I wanted to notify everyone that if your message does not appear in your computer after you send it. Lafayette, La USA - Friday, January 18, 2002 at 18:58:55 (MST)Hi Gerald, Well, that is news to me too ----I had no idea that Harvey lived in Abbeville when we were in the 4th grade. Wonder if we went to the same school? Mrs. Grace Duhon was our 4th grade teacher-Abbeville Elementary---just a few short blocks South of Blacks. I don't think he could have lived across the street from us because we lived right across the street from Abbeville Elementary School - there were no homes right across the street just the school with a very large playing area. It would be interesting to talk to Harvey about this. I don't believe there are any class pictures of those years. Wonder if he remembers any of the other guys because I remember names and we could compare notes. Who is Ray Landry? Did he go to Cathedral with all of you? Betty

USA - Friday, January 18, 2002 at 12:02:31 (MST)Betty happy to hear that you have finally recovered. You remind me of J.J. We don't hear from him enough. When we took Shirley, O.P. and Harvey to Abbeville for the mini class reunion, Harvey mentioned to us that he lived in Abbeville when he was in the 4th grade. We tried to find the home he was in with no success, but he also mentioned that he lived across the street from you. All of us did not know that. Maybe you could fill us in if you are feeling well enough.

Lafayette, La USA - Friday, January 18, 2002 at 09:31:03 (MST)Brenda, this is how we "downsized": We had all the kids over to scavange for what they wanted in the basement several times before we got ready to move. We also forced some stuff on them like their old pictures, yearbooks, etc. Then we decided what of the big funiture we could use in the condo and put the rest up for "grabs" among the kids. Of course we tried to spread it evenly, but our bacheor son in San Diego got the short end of the stick (so we will remember that in our will). A few days before we moved, some of them came to get some of the big stuff. My son in MD paid our mover to ship his stuff to him. Then we had a "junkman" come in and take all the rest of the stuff to the dump. We could have had a big yard sale and made more than we paid him, but decided that we didn't want the trouble of the yard sale. Oh, by the way, we still have a 10x10 room at a mini Ustore place with some stuff that we are still trying to decide on how to part with it. Now, that all said, Shirley still has some shopping fun (not on ebay yet) buying "little" things for the Condo. But retired life is great!! I play with my computers and cameras, and she still likes to shop! Our favorite saying is "What a Life". The Lord has been good to us.

They are really lovely and your grandchild is so cute. I'm glad that you sent the pictures in. Betty, great to hear from you again. If you are at loose ends, check out Ebay.com. It's fun. I won a Grandfather clock and some Christmas Nutcrackers. Just think of anything in the world you'd like to have and type it in the Search space. They probably have it. At our age though, we should be getting rid of things and not getting anything else. O.P. and Shirley, you've recently gone from a big house to a garden home. How did you do it?

USA - Thursday, January 17, 2002 at 16:27:04 (MST)Hello - Brenda and Marshall thanks for your prayers and concern. Yes, I was very, very ill and from the looks of things have an extensive recovery time. I spent from Dec. 20th to Jan. 3, 2002 in the Univ. of Penn. Hospital. We were visiting Eliz. during the holidays. Some Christmas, huh. To make a long story short I had something called Amniodorone Toxicity ----amniodorone is the powerful (and wonderful if a person can tolerate it) heart drug I was on for the arrythymias. It was poisoning me. It effects ones lungs. I have to be on steroids for at least 6 months so you can see why I say this will be a long recovery time. Anyway, enough about me ---- hope all of you had a great holiday ----the gathering of the group at Blacks surely sounded like a lot of fun. O.P. I love your pictures. Brenda, I will have to check out the books on the cabin---hopefully one of these days we can all drive over and spend an afternoon with you there. Oh, by the way, does anyone know how Minette is doing. I keep forgetting to ask Patsy. Got a note from Doris and a call from Mary Alice last night. They are well. Since I am housebound again for a while I check the messages often ---its a great pasttime. Thanks again OP for setting this up for all of us to enjoy. Betty

Lafayette, La. USA - Wednesday, January 16, 2002 at 08:36:58 (MST)Brenda thanks for giving us news of Betty. Glad you are feeling better Betty. You have been an inention in my daily Masses ever since Doris, I guess it was, mentioned you were ill around Christmas time. I had no idea how serious your illness was. Glad you are keeping up with the site. And Pete I agree with Brenda, let us hear what is happening in your life. Like I told you in my personal e.mail to you, you came up in our discussions at Blacks in Abbeville, so I am sure eveyone is anxious to hear from you.
Marshall <larr1710@home.com>
Venice, FL USA - Tuesday, January 15, 2002 at 19:16:19 (MST)I hope that Pete becomes a contributor to this site. As you can tell, we have slow and fast days. J.J., how did you discover St. Francisville? The next time you are going to St. Francisville, let me know. Our little Zachary House is very near there and you could sit before the outdoor fireplace like you said you'd like to do earlier. By the way, the house has now been published in four hard bound architectural books and about six journals or magazines including the August issue of Esquire. The neatest coverage is in a book called The Cabin by Dale Mulfinger and Susan E. Davis. The book itself is so nice and has coverage on about thirty unique cabins in America. About family pictures, O.P., all of our family will be together in April for the wedding and I'll get a family picture taken then and send it in. By the way, Betty was VERY sick and has just recently been taken off oxygen. She is keeping up with this site, so maybe you could drop her a note here. Take care. Brenda

Now, how about all those family photos I was supposed to receive from all you guys and gals after the holidays???? Come on, get with it and send me some photos!!!

Woodbridge, VA USA - Sunday, January 13, 2002 at 05:05:12 (MST)Just looked in our year book to see if J.J. had won any literary awards. Found only Key Club, Sodality, Choir and Band. He was the only graduating senior to take his picture with a bow tie. He was a trend setter in high school. No wonder he has great pros.
Gerald Reaux <ggrpsr@aol.com>
Lafayette, La USA - Saturday, January 12, 2002 at 08:31:11 (MST)J.J. you are a great writer!!! I feel like I was at the parade. When you write your autobiography let me know I want to buy it!

Venice, FL USA - Friday, January 11, 2002 at 21:04:48 (MST) Looks like you all had a good time at the Mini Reunion in Lafayette. I am sorry that I missed it.
Lita and I have been wandering again. We sold our Airstream and have ordered a new camper. We have been having a good time.
Among the places that we saw was the Christmas parade in St. Francisville.. This is the second year that we have gone to this parade and both times the weather was horrible. Had a good time in spite of the weather. It is a small town parade, run the Chamber of Commerce and fueled by civic pride. The streets were lined with antique dealers like barkers on Bourbon St. looking to attract the unwary. St. Francisville is great muffoalta sandwiches eaten in a restaurant with a long table made out of 7 inch steel I beams; rain; 10 year old girls with there blue jeans wet to their knees stamping puddles to wet one another; people walking their dogs in the parade; young mothers with baby carriages; very old women smoking cigarettes and carrying on an animated conversation in throaty smokers voices; an antique boat, beautiful in is red restored mahogany finish, filled with children throwing candy; a very young and very short 300 pound back lady with a new born on her ample breast; I asked her "I see you brought the boss with you,"; She said: "You got that right, when she screams, every one my family listens"; three new Corvettes direct from the dealers and one old one lovingly restored; a tall old man with a weathered face, leaning over so that he could walk along with his 3 year old grandmother held his calloused finger; and a 4 year old riding on in the parade reluctant of through his arm full of candy, he refused to part up this bounty. This was a parade, why can't run on sentences parade.
Lita and I also went dry camping at a motor cross track near Hammond The motor cross track was noise, dust and parents encouraging their children to hurt them selves on a motor cycle. The park and the surrounding 100 acres are beautiful.

Larose, La USA - Friday, January 11, 2002 at 16:55:51 (MST)How are all of the sick people, Doris? Am anxious for Betty to get back online so that we'll know she's really better. Sorry to hear about Carleen's shingles. I've heard that they're so painful. Keep us posted. Happy New Year!

It was so good to see you all again. And thanks O.P. for the pictures and video, they are great. Sorry you couldn't come Brenda. And I am so sorry we didn't call Carleen. USA - Sunday, January 06, 2002 at 06:38:31 (MST)Happy to hear you made it safe and sound Marshall. I hope everyone else does the same. Pat and I had a blast visiting with all that came. Some bad news however, Donald Deshotels mother passed away on Wednesday. He was very close to her. They had a large family, five girls and five boys. She was 99. Let's keep her in our prayers.

Lafayette, La USA - Friday, January 04, 2002 at 09:37:55 (MST)Wasn't finished with my "message" and hit the wrong key..don't know which one, and "zap" my screen went blank and the part of the message I had typed appeared on the site! Usually we have a week of cold weather in the 50's and even 40's at night. Rarely does it freeze...but it does at times. The Pics are great O.P. With that Movie camera and sound, I'll have to learn to keep my mouth shut! I was wondering why Shirley was so quiet...she is around you all the time so she has learned! Enjoyed seeing everyone. I have seen some of the "camps" at Pecan Island, so I have some idea of what to expect o.p. when someone says they have a camp at Pecan Island!

Venice, FL USA - Thursday, January 03, 2002 at 20:09:58 (MST)Happy New Year! Thank you for getting the pictures of the mini-reunion up so quickly. It looks like everyone was having such a good time. I'm so sorry that I couldn't make the trip. Not only were the roads closed, but John got sick on the way home from California and stayed in bed all day yesterday. It was great to see that so many people were there; a nice beginning to 2002. Marshall, looks like the cold weather is headed your way. O.P. and Shirley, you must be used to it by now. Keep the pictures coming. Was Howard there?
Brenda <jatkin19321@home.com>
USA - Thursday, January 03, 2002 at 06:53:02 (MST)The Mini-Reunion was a great success. The company was great, the food was delicious, and the trip to Jerry Reaux's Pecan Island Camp (say Country Club) was terrific! I think it is safe to say all had a great time. If you missed all the photos there is a link below the big one on the front page and there is a link on the main page too. The video will be coming soon. Happy New Year!

Lafayette, LA USA - Thursday, January 03, 2002 at 05:26:26 (MST)Looks like roads will be O.K. for Abbeville trip today. The only roads closed seem to be those elevated Hwys...I-10 to Baton Rouge. Hope we get no more moisture tonight...I plan on leaving early tomorrow morning...90% of my trip is East before heading due south. Lots of elevated roads on the Eastern leg of that trip. Hope to see lots of ya in Abbeville about noon. The oysters are fantastic this year...as they usually are in LA. This will be my third serving since arriving :-) Might make trip to Pecan Gerald...will let you know when I get to Blacks.
Marshall <larr1710@home.com>
Venice , FL USA - Wednesday, January 02, 2002 at 08:47:17 (MST)Ok, guys and girls, today is the day for Blacks in Abbeville at 11:30am. Don't let a little dusting of white stuff make you miss this great event. See you all there.

Lafayette, LA USA - Wednesday, January 02, 2002 at 08:41:46 (MST)Yes, thanks Marshall, Patsy called me also. Betty certainly is in my prayers. I am glad she is with her daughter now. It is important to be near loved ones when something like this happens. Patsy and Howard and I may-----go tomorrow. I am still not sure. It depends on the weather. Patsy just sent me an e-mail and said she won't know until tomorrow morning. If there is no rain it will be ok. So if we don't show up you will know why. Especially for me since I am coming from Lake Charles.
Doris
USA - Tuesday, January 01, 2002 at 10:07:02 (MST)Donald has come a long way. I knew he could cook but he even served us at the table. Our wives eyes were getting big. We plan to leave Lafayette around 11:00 A.M. tomorrow morning. If anyone is interested we plan to go to Pecan Island after we eat and visit. We will make a caravan to my son's camp/home. It is only 30 minuits away well worth the drive. See you'll tomorrow. Happy New Years.

Lafayette, La USA - Tuesday, January 01, 2002 at 10:04:00 (MST)Got to a computer at my sister's house. I now know why I didn't like AOL. I get cut off every time I try to get on. Great gumbo at Donald's house. Better seeing so many of you again. After viewing the picture on our site O.P. I decided immediately on a New Years resolution!!! The pounds must go. Doris you mention Betty coming home! Did you all get the message that she was ill in PA? Patsy called me at my sister's house. Keep her in your prayers.

Venice, FL USA - Monday, December 31, 2001 at 12:24:51 (MST)Thanks for the directions Gerald. I might be able to make it on the 2nd.Charles has to do some work at Pam's house and I will probably be able to sneak away. I am hoping to get Betty to come. She is suppose to be coming home tomorrow from Pa. I'll e-mail Patsy too.

USA - Thursday, December 27, 2001 at 16:14:05 (MST)Brenda, I would take exit 101 which is the Carencro exit and proceed south along N. University which is Hwy. 182. Then turn right at Johnston St. which is 167. Stay on 167, approximately 25 miles, until you reach it's most southern point a tee intersection. Turn left go over the draw bridge in Abbeville and Black's oyster bar and restaurant is on your right, just across from St. Mary Magdeline (sp) Catholic Church where Marshall was stationed. The number at Black's is 337-893-4266 in case you get lost. Have a safe trip.

Venice, FL USA - Friday, December 21, 2001 at 21:15:58 (MST)O.P., John and I are going to California for Christmas, returning on Jan. 1, late at night. I will probably not know if we can make it on the 2nd until that morning. Abbeville sounds fine to me. We would just have to get directions. Keep me posted.

USA - Thursday, December 20, 2001 at 06:18:48 (MST)Brenda, we started the web site right after the 2000 reunion, the first message in the Guestbook was from me on June 4, 2000. Speaking of reunions, we are trying to have a "mini-reunion" this holiday season. We are trying to get together at Black's in Abbeville for lunch on Wed, Jan 2nd at about 11:30 am. Gerald, Marshall & I have now committed. We will be trying to get as many of you as we can to be there. Please let us know if any of you can make it. If any of you all would prefer, we can change it to a place in Lafayette. Let us know and "lets roll"!

USA - Wednesday, December 19, 2001 at 19:43:31 (MST)Oh I remember Bill Elder!! He moved to Hammond when we were still dating. But I didn't hear much from him after that. Than after I was married and living in Houma, I saw him on T.V. He was than an announcer for Channel 6 WDSU in New Orleans. I don't know if he ever was over here in Lake Charles, mabe so but that was way before we moved here. O.P. I sure do like the song you picked for the opening of the website, I hadn't heard it yet.
Doris
USA - Tuesday, December 18, 2001 at 19:31:16 (MST)Bill Elder! Had forgotten all about him. Wasn't he an announcer on Channel 7 in Lake Charles?

Venice, FL USA - Tuesday, December 18, 2001 at 16:05:59 (MST)I missed the party you all are referrig to ---guess we hadn't moved to Lafayette yet. Seems like there was a "whole lot of kissing goin on". First boy I ever kissed was Bill Elder - I didn't like it and he didn't either I guess cause the next thing I knew he was dating Doris!!!!!!! Doris, do you remember him? Suzanne told us (last summer I think) that he had a brain tumor. Doris, yes I am in Philadelphia---the weather is "crummy", cold, windy and rainy. I was going to NY with Eliz. yesterday to shop, etc. (while she worked) but unfortunately I got some kind of "bug" over the weekend and have been in bed since Sat. night. Luckily I feel so much better today. Has anyone heard anymore about Minette. I sent a note to Patsy, but she hasn't replied. She is probably really busy right now. I think Susan is due in for the holidays. Betty

USA - Tuesday, December 18, 2001 at 07:05:55 (MST)Go Saints???? Are you crazy Gerald? An onside kick after scoring a touchdown on the opening drive?? Give me a break...but come to think of it, it is Christmas! Yep I certainly remember Minne Mae Monteleon. Biggest mistake Hugh ever made not marrying her...but that is only my humble opinion.
Marshall <larr1710@home.com>
Venice, FL USA - Monday, December 17, 2001 at 21:14:32 (MST)Doris, you are right. It was Winnie Mae, how could I forget such an unusual name. "GO SAINTS"!
Gerald Reaux <ggrpsr@aol.com>
Lafayette, La USA - Monday, December 17, 2001 at 18:04:13 (MST)Gerald, I am sorry if I am totally confusing you. I reread your entry and you said "MARY MONTELEON" I thought you had said Betty Monteleon . As far as I know there was no Mary Monteleon, so it must have been Winnie. Sorry Guys!!!!!!!
Doris
USA - Monday, December 17, 2001 at 15:12:05 (MST)I've got news for you guys, that wasn't Betty Jane Monteleon, that was Winnie Mae Monteleon. Winnie was Pat's age and Betty was a year younger than us. I know because Winnie and I grew up together she was my neighbor. Betty was Winnie's cousin. For a while Betty lived down the street near Langlinais grocery, but than she moved to a house across the street from where Central School was. Winnie dated your brother Huey, Marshal, don't you remember? Winnie and Betty are Pete's cousins. That is how I remember of meeting Pete, through Winnie. And yes O.P. I do remember Ray's party very well.
Doris Provost
USA - Monday, December 17, 2001 at 15:06:31 (MST)Gerald, yes I remember my sister Pat's party. But I can't remember who I got to kiss on the porch. Yes, we had to stand on chairs or the swing. By the way, they were only one year older than us.
O. P. Ditch <op@opditch.com>
Woodbridge, VA USA - Monday, December 17, 2001 at 12:45:38 (MST)Well, since we are all remembering our first girl/boy things, I can remember the exact moment I realized boys weren't awful. I had been riding my bike around Carleen's neighborhood and Tommy Quyser was calling out to me from his porch. I thought he was repulsive until the next day at school when I walked by Janet's (I think it was Janet's) desk and she had a picture of Tommy on her desk. I asked her why and she said something like, "Isn't he dreamy?" I couldn't believe she thought so, but INSTANTLY, my life changed. I realized that he was dreamy and, in fact, boys weren't repulsive, and, in fact, most of them were dreamy. I've thought so ever since.
Brenda Atkinson
USA - Monday, December 17, 2001 at 09:42:06 (MST)The first girl/boy party I remember going to was at O.P.'s house. His sister Pat had a birthday and invited all here friends, they were much older than us. We played spin the bottle and Post Office. I remember going to the porch with Mary Monteleone standing on a swing to kiss her. She was much taller that I. Do you remember that O.P.?

Lafayette, La USA - Monday, December 17, 2001 at 07:07:57 (MST)Well, how about this. I don't remember the piped in music, and I don't remember the carroling either, nor Mooshemacks, nor "Peggy Sue Got Married." I don't have a selective memory.... I have none!! I take that back, I do remember our first boy/girl party at Ray Domengeaux's house when we all got to learn how to dance with Doris.

Woodbridge, VA USA - Monday, December 17, 2001 at 04:47:46 (MST)Great hearing from so many people all of a sudden! Talking about "mucky", just saw on national news that Sarasota, FL (23 miles north of me) was hotest spot in the country today...87 degrees! No Brenda I can't say I remember Bobby Muench from New Orleans. I went to St. Mary,KY for two years, and I was at Notre Dame in N.O. for six years...he is 59 and I will be 65 next month, so he probably got to Notre Dame the year I was ordained. You can tell our age with all this selective memory going on! However I do remember the music piped in downtown Lafaytte Doris...on Jefferson Street. I guess that would be politically incorrect today...you'd have to have one Christmas Carol, one Jewish song, one Quanza song, and one moment of silence of equal time for those who don't believe in music! I didn't know you grew up in Abbeville Betty! Glad to hear you all had a good day hunting Gerald. Of course if you can't get your limit of ducks on Pecan Island it usually means you warmed up with too much wine! But since it wasn't a cold day, that would not be an excuse anyway...of course if Vermilion Parish hasn't changed, no one needs the excuse of cold weather to have a drink :-)
Marshall <larr1710@home.com>
Venice, FL USA - Sunday, December 16, 2001 at 21:43:49 (MST)Betty, I am pretty sure it was when we were in high school, because I remember going during lunch hour, remember that? We would run down town to McCrory's and either Morgan & Lindsey's or was it Woolsworth and shop. I know Patsy & I went. We would do this instead of eating lunch. I didn't know about Minette's other heart attack either. Betty you must be in Pa. How's the weather up there? It is yukky over here. Hot and humid!!! So what's new, huh?
Doris
USA - Sunday, December 16, 2001 at 19:33:40 (MST)Doris, I have only a vague memory of caroling while in high school. That doesn't mean anything. John reminded me of a place we had gone a few months ago and I couldn't believe we had gone there. My memory is very selective. I do love to see movies of the 50's like "Peggy Sue Got Married." Those movies do bring back some great memories. Marshall, did you know our new bishop, Bishop Bobby Muench? Everyone seems to remember him at the seminary. He is 59 years old and lived in New Orleans. We are happy to get a bishop with roots in Louisiana. Hope all of you are enjoying the pre-Christmas festivities. Glad to have you back, Betty. Hope you enjoyed your trip. Take care everyone!

USA - Sunday, December 16, 2001 at 19:04:57 (MST)Marshall, I grew up in Abbeville and hadn't thought of Mushemacks in years---I don't know how to spell it correctly---it was pronunced "Mooshemacks". Doris, were we in high school when you heard the music from speakers, etc. I can't remember the speakers either. Betty

USA - Sunday, December 16, 2001 at 16:54:07 (MST)Hi "you all!" Best wishes for a happy, healthy holiday season. Saw Gaston Horaist at the Soundwaves Choral Group Christmas get together last evening, he reports that his sister, Minette Horaist Langlinais is on the mend after a second heart surgery, so please offer your prayers for her quick recovery. That wingding thing is eerie! In Wordperfect Corel 8, I just entered Q33NY in the Wingding "2" font, and got this: 8, 2 tall cylinder forms, 5 and 5. If you total 5, 5 and 8, you get 18. By adding 1 and 8 (for 18), you get 9, and by placing this total number (9) first, it translates to what looks like 911. I still think it's a hoax, however quite clever. Henrietta *:O)

Lafayette, LA USA - Sunday, December 16, 2001 at 08:49:08 (MST)Ok, my comments today are for Marshall and Doris. We had a good hunt Saturday in spite of the fact that it was warm and muggy. On the way to the duck blind a small doe jumped over a canal just in front of our boat. We don't hunt dear but many do in the marsh where we hunt ducks. After bringing our limit to the duck pluckers (they clean the ducks for $1.50 per duck) returned home and went to 4:00 P.M. mass at Cathedral. That is where our memories are best served. I do remember Christmas Caroling from Mary Margaret's home. But I do not remember the speakers on poles in downtown Lafayette. I lived very near the intersection of Johnston and Stewart St, where we would play touch football in the street. Tommy Gardner (Red's cousin) was the the QB still lives there. He is about five years older than us and a confirmed bachelor. He was at Cathedral for our mass during the reunion. He goes to mass every day. Tough act to follow. I hope everyone has a safe and holy Christmas and if any of you are here during the holidays, please give us a call. The boiled crawfish were delious last night.
Gerald Reaux <ggrpsr@aol.com>
Lafayette, La. USA - Sunday, December 16, 2001 at 08:01:10 (MST)Talking about memories. As I was getting ready to go xmas shopping this morning I was reminded how much I love this time of the year and always have. I remember how I loved to shop in downtown Lafayette at Xmas time when the streets were all decorated and there was Xmas Carols being played from speakers on the light poles. Does anyone else remember that? Also who can remember going Caroling? I am pretty sure one time we went together with you boys. We all met at Mary Elizabeth's house. I know Rickey, and I am sure you O.P. and Gerald were along too. We caroled at someones house and they gave us money and we went to Borden's and bought hot chocolate. Were you there Brenda? Remember we were carrying candles? I hope someone else remember's this and it is not a figment of my imagination. Anyway I hope all of you have a very very Merry and Blessed Christmas. It is a wonderful time of the year!!
Doris
USA - Saturday, December 15, 2001 at 16:55:59 (MST)Gerald you brought back many fond memories about duck hunting. My first assignment was in Abbeville. I used to go duck hunting in the morning and be in my classroom on time for class...naturally with my limit of ducks. One morning it even included an eight point buck! Luckily we had buck shot in the boat. When we would go to Pecan Island, we always had fresh duck gumbo waiting for us at the camp! I never asked, but I am SURE the ducks were frozen from last season :-) Having Black's across the street from the rectory was too tempting for weight control! It was called "Mismacks" (Sp?) at that time...no alcoholic beverages and sat probably 25 people at the most...open only in months with "R" in them. Richard's was the only place serving boiled crawfish. I used to go eat with them after correcting tests late at night...after the crowd left. There the DID serve beer, and LOTS of it. Good luck with hunting. I haven't had wild duck and smoke sausage gumbo in probably 20 years!

Venice, FL USA - Friday, December 14, 2001 at 17:07:45 (MST)The Q33NY discussion remindes me what my dad would say about all of this. "That's a lot of sugar for a dime". I am happy to note that we have Brenda, Marshall and O.P. to clear us up on this issue. Tomorrow is opening day for duck season (second split). I will pick up my 12 year old grandson this afternoon and we will drive to Pecan Island. We will probably stop along the way at Black's in Abbeville to eat either raw oysters or boiled crawfish. Life is tough but somebody has to take you transplants place.

Lafayette, La USA - Friday, December 14, 2001 at 07:25:48 (MST)I wish I had the time to fool around on the computor like you RETIRED guys do. Well mabe someday. I am toiling with the idea of retiring this year, but I am afraid I will miss being with the kids too much. Those little rascals with their hugs and kisses get to you. I guess it is because none of my grandchildren have ever been close enough for me to go get for the day or so. I don't have the time to fool around too much on the computor, but I take the time to check this website. It makes me feel so close to you guys. Thanks again O.P.

Woodbridge, VA USA - Thursday, December 13, 2001 at 19:10:20 (MST)Of course Brenda, those KUDOS are only valid if the Q33NY routing number is bogus! If it really was the routing number, then there is a weird coincidence with the images of the icons in Wingding and the WTC fiasco. Only one of my pilot friends responded to my request for info on routing numbers. His opinion was that the Q33NY is bogus...rendering Brenda's theory applicable.
Marshall <larr1710@home.com>
Venice, FL USA - Thursday, December 13, 2001 at 18:05:40 (MST)Move over O.P., we have a new computer Guru. Fantastic Brenda...what a creative mind you have! I guess I was not curious enough to check out the Wingdings font to see that it was all icons! I am sure someone did exactly what you said in your paragraph below! Thanks for solving the mystery. How about that Gerald? Satisfy you?
Marshall <larr1710@home.com>
Venice, FL USA - Thursday, December 13, 2001 at 17:11:59 (MST)I think I know how that Wingding message was made. If you type your all of your ABC's in caps and numbers 1-9, and then put them in a Wingding font, you can see how someone selected the various icons that they did. The Wingding font is all icons for letters and numbers and you can chose which ever letters or numbers you want to send whatever message you want in pictures. Try it.
Brenda
USA - Thursday, December 13, 2001 at 15:51:48 (MST)Thanks O.P. You gave me an idea. I have a couple of relatives who fly for commerical air lines. They might know about the routing number of the plane that hit the WTC. I also have military friends who are pilots...but I am sure you have more of those than I do! Wonder if they would know? About the Holidays, you took the "print right off my finger tips." I was just getting ready to send out my holiday schedule to all on line. I always go home from 22nd Dec thru 4 Jan...or there abouts. This year it will be from 23rd Dec thru the 4th. I will be staying with my sister Celine at 1301 W. St. Mary Blvd..just around the block from Betty's. The phone number there is: 235-0256. If I am not visiting family or friends, I'll be eating raw oysters in Abbeville :-)
Marshall <larr1710@home.com>
venice, FL USA - Thursday, December 13, 2001 at 04:40:16 (MST)Marshall, I don't think that situation is a "computer" issue. Those Wingdings were programmed many years ago. I think we need to see if the flight callsign was really that "Q33NY". Is there somewhere on the web that we can confirm that? Like maybe the FBI (fbi.gov) site or something? I looked there but didn't find anything of that detail. While I was there, I read that interesting Indictment of Moussauie (sp?). On another issue. Marshall, I heard tonight, through the grapevine, that you might be in Lafayette at the end of the month. Shirley & I will be there also from Dec 27th to Jan 4th. Maybe we can all get together. Some of us are going to the Redskins/Saints game in N.O. on Dec 30th. Maybe we can have a "mini" reunion on another day while we are there?

Woodbridge, VA USA - Wednesday, December 12, 2001 at 15:59:48 (MST)I agree Brenda, it's weird to say the least! O.P. you're the computer guru! Do you think someone concockted this? How would you go about "creating" it to come out the way it does?
Marshall <larr1710@home.com>
Venice, LA USA - Wednesday, December 12, 2001 at 15:13:41 (MST)Gerald, no, it is not Rickey Nelson. Shirley and I first thought it sounded like him too. That's why I picked that song to throw you off. So, if you can't get it, I will have to tell everyone who it is. The song is "The Fool", and it is sung by "Sanford Clark". I don't remember him, he sounds like Rickey Nelson to me, but I do remember hearing that the song in the 50s. Ok, I will have to find another song for you all to guess. This one will have to get the girls involved.

Woodbridge, VA USA - Wednesday, December 12, 2001 at 08:01:07 (MST)Marshall, that little excercize is otherworldly, isn't it? I've sent it to a few people and am anxious to hear what they think.

USA - Wednesday, December 12, 2001 at 07:17:14 (MST)Gerald in "airplane tower talk", Q33NY was reportedly the routing number of the first plane that hit the WTC. I think I might have called it the plane flight number in my first trnasmition...sorry about that. I have no proof that it was the routing number either...I'm just passing along was was sent to me. What are we to make of it? I guess that is a very individualistic question and decision.
Marshall <larr1710@home.com>
Venice, FL USA - Tuesday, December 11, 2001 at 19:24:17 (MST)Marshall where did you get this? We can't understand what all of that means. Was that really the flight number that hit the WTC. Enlighten us! My guess for the artist is Rickey Nelson. Don't know the name of the song, never heard it.
Gerald Reaux <ggrpsr@aol.com>
Lafayette, La USA - Tuesday, December 11, 2001 at 17:25:24 (MST)Doris I have no idea who originally discovered the "trick"...but it was sent to me by a friend. I am sure it had to be discovered by accident...but I am computer illerate, so I really don't know.
Marshall <Larr1710@home.com>
Venice, FL USA - Tuesday, December 11, 2001 at 17:07:22 (MST)OHMIGOSH,Marshall, that's Something Huh? How did you discover that?
Doris
USA - Tuesday, December 11, 2001 at 15:23:15 (MST)O.P., where in the world are you getting that music? I never heard of this last one. The first one I remember, but as far as for the name of the artist that recorded it forget that. That wasn't among my most important things to remember then or now as a matter of fact. I probably could tell you all the words of the songs from back than, but not the artist. So I guess this is not the contest for me. Oh how I remember "T-Mout", I DID NOT like her very much. I hated anything to do with P.E. and she was our P.E. teacher. And guess what ! After I was married ,don't I find out that she is a good friend of my mother-in-law. She even came to visit us over here in Lake Charles with Mrs. Provost. LORDY!! How the past comes back to haunt you.
Doris
USA - Tuesday, December 11, 2001 at 06:11:35 (MST)Want to try something really strange? Go to your word processor on a fresh page. Type in Q33NY in CAPS...which is the flight # of one of the planes that hit the WTC. Hightlight it. Then change the Font size to 48 and change the actual font style to "Wingdings"...you'll be surprised.

Venice, FL USA - Monday, December 10, 2001 at 20:36:40 (MST)Miss Mouton! I had forgotten all about her. Didn't she teach us in the first grade guys? She was the girls baskeball coach too wasn't she?
Marshall <larr1710@home.com>
Venice, FL USA - Monday, December 10, 2001 at 20:29:57 (MST)Betty, do you think it is the girls' time to reminisce? When I think of that un-airconditioned convent in the summer, when the sisters wore those long, gabardine habits, covered from head to toe with layers of clothing, I can't understand how they stood it. I remember Jackie Richardson being kept at the blackboard for what seemed like hours by a nun (maybe Sr. Juliana) because she thought Jackie was not getting the problem purposefully. I also remember slamming Avis' hand in the school's front doors; accidently, of course, (though I don't know if Avis believes that to this day). I also remember Mother Delores calling me out of line to ask me about something someone had accused me of. I went into this long explanation about Miss Mouton, whom I was sure had accused me, only to have Mother Delores say that she was sorry to hear that I was also in trouble with Miss Mouton, but that it was something I had said to Sr. Dennis!!! (And Avis called me and Mary Anthony "goody two-shoes")!

Baton Rouge LA, USA - Monday, December 10, 2001 at 20:21:08 (MST)O.P.----Never mind ---the song just played in the pop-up window for the first time - usually I just got the pop-up window but no music. Its a good song, but I don't remember ever having heard it before. BRENDA that website is just great. Thanks for letting us know about it. Betty

USA - Monday, December 10, 2001 at 11:45:05 (MST)Brenda, I can't believe she couldn't remember us ---remember how she blessed Jackie Richardson out that one day for the way she walked in her boots ---it was memorable to me. And poor Sr. Wilfred when she was in a PMS period and almost went beserk over the way Patsy was pronouncing "curtail" ---it was so bad Mother Dolores sent someone upstairs to call her down to the office. Our class was over her office. Overall Sr. Wilfred was nice, but boy that day she absolutely lost it!!!!!! O. P. are you all trying to guess a certain song? Betty

USA - Monday, December 10, 2001 at 10:12:05 (MST)If you want a nice treat, check out the following website which is a virtual tour of the decorated Whitehouse. http://www.whitehouse.gov/holiday/ I am enjoying the music, O.P., but I could never guess those titles the way Gerald can. I was much more into the ballad type songs like: "Blue Velvet," "You Belong to Me" by people like Peggy Lee, "They Tried to Tell Us We're Too Young," by Nat King Cole, and those of that type--really romantic ones. One station on the cable network plays all of those old songs and I LOVE having them play in the background while I'm at home. Betty, I wrote to Sr. Ann Carmel a few years ago when she was featured in the newspaper. She wrote back to me a few times, but I'm ashamed to say she was the last one to write. I saw Sr. Juliana a few years ago and she couldn't remember any of us!! I was shocked. We surely remember her well. Don't forget to check out the Whitehouse website.

Baton Rouge LA, USA - Monday, December 10, 2001 at 06:56:02 (MST)Gerald, you are getting antsy. Shirley says you are getting these because your folks had a juke box in the restaurant. Not fair. How come the girls are not catching any of these? they are not even guessing!!!

Woodbridge, VA USA - Sunday, December 09, 2001 at 18:13:35 (MST)Is it "teenagers". This is from research and less than 7 days, I think. So lets have another tune, I'am probably disqualified.

Lafayette, La USA - Sunday, December 09, 2001 at 17:34:20 (MST)SORRY Gerald, try again. It's not the "Heartbreakers". But it does end with an "s". he he he he

Woodbridge, VA USA - Sunday, December 09, 2001 at 15:43:25 (MST)Is it "Frankie Lymon and the heartbreakers"? Marshall I hope my senior memory doesn't effect my research.

Lafayette, La USA - Sunday, December 09, 2001 at 07:01:03 (MST)So much for Senior Memory Gerald! Ha!

Venice, FL USA - Saturday, December 08, 2001 at 21:00:09 (MST)O.P. I finally got the music. Its really "fun" to read all the messages and listen to the 50s music. Jerry Lee Lewis is singing "Come on Over Baby" or "Shakin" or whatever the name was!!!!!!! Makes you tap your toe.
BRENDA-----I received a pamphlet from the Motherhouse yesterday. It shows a picture of Sr. Ann Carmel. Some of her artwork is in the Cathedral gift shot Remember her? Do you know if Sr. Juliana is still alive? Last year she was mentioned in the Christmas pamplet, but not this year. I have lots of masses said through the year through the sisters ---I guess that is why they send me that pamphlet.
MARSHALL, I saw Huey and his wife at mass at 4 PM ---saw them as they were going to communion----didn't get a chance to talk to them. Betty

USA - Saturday, December 08, 2001 at 20:36:14 (MST)Nice try Gerald. But you only got half of the Artists on this song. "Frankie Lymon and the ..............". Maybe you can do some "research" after the 7 day period and get the rest of it. YEN YEN YEN YEN YEN

Woodbridge, VA USA - Saturday, December 08, 2001 at 09:43:47 (MST)OP, Thanks. I went to the Mac-Medic for a lesson this morning and he showed me what to do, but Realtime said it couldn't be downloaded at this time. So I will try again later and/or contact aol. If the Mac-Medic couldn't do it I don't guess it was doable right now. I think I didn't spell delimma correctly ---it "looks" wrong. Betty

USA - Friday, December 07, 2001 at 15:51:00 (MST)Marshall, thanks for that website. They do have a ton of information. BRENDA, did you go to the website Marshall recommended? The stem cell reality check questions are very informative. I too am hoping they can use the placenta cells and achieve the same thing---think of all the terribly ill people this could help---it could be a godsend for your grandchildren.I'll have to do more reading because I am having a moral delimma over this.
Mary Alice was in Lafayette yesterday and she stopped by for a short visit. She told me to tell you all hello. She is doing fine.
We are going to Philadelphia next Wednesday so I want to wish all of you a JOYOUS CHRISTMAS. Betty

USA - Friday, December 07, 2001 at 14:05:20 (MST)O.P. nice try to trick us. My latest "guess that tune" is "Why do fools fall in love" by Frankie Lyman who was 14 years old when HE recorded that song. This was from my senior memory with no research.
Gerald Reaux <ggrpsr@aol.com>
Lafayette, La USA - Friday, December 07, 2001 at 08:34:14 (MST)The comments about stem cell research really interest me. I surely wish the stem cells from placentas would be valuable for research and show as much promise as the other stem cells. When it hits home like it does for us, it's so hard not to wish they could develop ways to treat our grandchildren and others we love who are suffering from some of the illnesses which might be helped from the research. Our oldest grandchild (Lauren, 11) has a really bad case of Juvenile Diabetes. Her little brother (Mikey) is being tested for Cystic Fibrosis right now. The life expectancy for both diseases is very poor. But a lot of people are also waiting for cures so we can wait with them.

Baton Rouge LA, USA - Thursday, December 06, 2001 at 17:31:27 (MST)Betty, since you use AOL, you should contact AOL help line, and tell them you are trying to access RealPlayer content (audio). They should be able to tell you what to do allu might have to give them the address of our site so they can see what the audio/music content is.

USA - Wednesday, December 05, 2001 at 19:55:41 (MST)Thanks for your confidence Betty. However the topic of Stem Cell Research is a little too complicated to deal with in this format. For anyone who is interested, I suggest that you go to www.nccbuscc.org That is the Office of the Catholic Bishops. Click on "Topics & Search" Then type in "Stem Cell Research". You'll get TONS of information. Hope this helps.

Venice, FL USA - Wednesday, December 05, 2001 at 19:19:08 (MST)Brenda, In answer to your question, our Christmas gatherings have really dwindled through the years. Since Elizabeth moved up north we usually go up there. I haven't taken a single decoration out this year (doesn't that sound like Scrooge) and I used to LOVE to decorate the house, etc. Since we are going up to Philadelphia next week it just didn't seem worth the effort. We don't even have grandchildren as most of you do to liven things up. I keep hoping. Life is so fluid and nothing stays the same does it?
What do you all think of this stem cell research? I haven't read a whole lot on the subject and just wondered how you all felt about it.
Marshall let us hear from you on this.

Lafayette, La. USA - Wednesday, December 05, 2001 at 15:49:26 (MST)OK, lets have another song and we could guess the name and the artist. I wonder if we have better memories than those Mount Carmel girls?

Lafayette, La USA - Wednesday, December 05, 2001 at 13:51:40 (MST)Ok, here are the new rules..... No "research" for the first 7 days. You gotta get it from your "senior memory". After 7 days you can guess based on your "research". How's that? I guess J.J. has to rule on the rules?
O. P. Ditch <op@opditch.com>
Woodbridge, VA USA - Wednesday, December 05, 2001 at 07:37:56 (MST)Gerald I think that judgement...cheating or not...comes under the jurisdiction of J.J.! In my view, it is not cheating because O.P. did not eleminate research in the "rules of the game!"
Marshall <larr1710@home.com>
Venice, FL USA - Wednesday, December 05, 2001 at 05:42:26 (MST)O.P. remember I bought a CD in San Diego that we played on your lap top. Well guess what, Honky Tonk was one of the songs on it. I retrived it from my SUV and read the label. I guess that could be considered partial cheating. We will need Marshalls ruleing on this one. Is that Elvis and his band in the picture you posted? "Raunchy" must have been what we smelled like when we returned home after danceing all night to that good old 50's music. By the way I have enjoyed the web site you sent me www.fiftiesweb.com/music.htm.
Gerald Reaux <ggrpsr@aol.com>
Lafayette, La USA - Tuesday, December 04, 2001 at 07:33:23 (MST)Gerald, you must be cheating, somehow. But I thought it was called "Raunchy", until I looked at the CD label. Wasn't there a tune called "Raunchy" back then? Didn't sound something like that? I been searching on the internet, but can't seem to find the right one I am looking for. Gerald, our music expert, what do you know about "Raunchy"?

Woodbridge, VA USA - Tuesday, December 04, 2001 at 06:18:07 (MST)Obviously I meant '56 or '57. I have no idea who the "Rock n Roll" group is. I was living in the middle of the woods in St. Mary, KY. I bet you can't even find it on the map! It's near Lebanon. They were still destroying Stills making home brew in those days!

Venice, LA USA - Tuesday, December 04, 2001 at 03:59:50 (MST)"See Ya Later Alligator"! My God, I don't think I've heard that song since '96 or '97...which I guess is the year it came out!
Marshall <larr1710@home.com>
Venice, FL USA - Tuesday, December 04, 2001 at 03:56:11 (MST)OK. My guess is Honky Tonk (part 2) by Bill Dogget. Is this a contest or something to increase interest in the class web site. I like both. Yesterday was our annual Christmas picture with all of our grandchildren. This is our sixth year. It is amazing how they change so rapidly. We will get a copy on Dec. 14th which I will sent to our web master. You know the one that has all these games for us to enjoy.

Lafayette, La. USA - Monday, December 03, 2001 at 09:25:15 (MST)Brenda, do you still sing? In a bad part of D.C. I heard the following on street corner of the young and hopeless. "God is great. Larose, La USA - Monday, December 03, 2001 at 01:34:02 (MST)Someone has to get things started again on this website so I will. Is anything different in your life this Christmas than the past ones? For the first time since we were married, we are not spending Christmas at home. We are going to California to visit our oldest son and his family. Usually, all of our children and their familes come to visit us at Christmas, but this year no one is coming because they are all coming to our family wedding in April, so we decided to visit one of them. It will surely be easier for the two of us to fly than for all of them to fly home with small children and all of the Santa Claus presents they have to bring. I guess they'll all see how much easier this will be and that will mark the end of our family Christmasses here. I hope all of you are enjoying some Christmas spirit. I am. Being retired from deadlines on projects, etc. for the first time that I can remember, has given me such a spirit of freedom and I am enjoying each day, anticipating the season, with Christmas music, decorations, even shopping. I wish this year were not such a sad Christmas for the thousands of families who lost a loved one in September and for the families with soldier overseas. I certainly hope all of you are doing well and staying healthy. Let's hear from you.
