Marshall, I don't recall any four legged animal mascot at Mt. Carmel ----Brenda,
Doris was there one?
Betty
USA - Saturday, August 31, 2002 at 20:28:25 (EDT)Betty you brought up the "Tiger", which of course is the Mascot of Cathedral/Carmel NOW and has always been the Mascot of Cathedral. I was wondering, did Mt. Carmel ever have a Mascot prior to the merger? I know the Scapular was always visible whenever the Mt.Carmel logo appeared anywhere, but was there ever an "Animal" Mascot for the School...other than the boys who hung around!!!!

Venice, FL USA - Saturday, August 31, 2002 at 09:35:25 (EDT)Doris, I'm not sure I understand. What do you mean that you keep your journal in the documents on your computer. Don't you have a book which you were given? How is it in your computer?
Brenda
USA - Friday, August 30, 2002 at 22:57:20 (EDT)Doris, Elizabeth gave me a similar book that she wants me to fill out for the coming baby. Its been lots of fun. I, too, have started writing about my early childhood in Abbeville and through graduation from Mt. Carmel. The more I write of my early childhood the more things I remember. Its been fun so far. There are places for pictures so I have to get busy and start pulling out old photo albums. The baby is due Nov. 27 so I am really going to have to get busy when I get home. Betty

USA - Friday, August 30, 2002 at 14:21:48 (EDT)Brenda, my daughter in-law, Crispin, gave me a book sometime ago, it is called "To Our Children's Children" Preserving Family Histories for Generations to Come. This little book is a help to any grandparent who wants to write a journal for your grandchildren. It is full of helpful questions that bring back wonderful memories. Anyway I have started a journal for my grandchildren to someday read. It is a lot of fun. The book is written by Bob Greene and published by doubleday. I keep the journal in my documents on my computor and whenever I have a few minutes I pull out the book and answer a few of the questions. That and this webpage is a lot of fun.

USA - Friday, August 30, 2002 at 13:19:34 (EDT)We also haven't heard from J.J. in a long time. I checked the archives which are posted at the end of the message page. Do yourself a favor and read the letters from Avis. What promise for our website they held! There were also letters from Robert and others whom we don't hear from any more. I am really enjoying the memories which all of you are sharing. Whenever I go to Lafayette, I have to drive through all of the old places where I used to ride my bicycle or walk. We shopped at Langlinais Grocery store, treated ourselves at Kellers, Bordon's and Shamrock's, walked to the Cathedral for Thursday morning mass, and went to the Jefferson Theater, all within a few blocks of our house. Rickey's right. Our children and grandchildren won't have those experiences.
Brenda
USA - Friday, August 30, 2002 at 08:36:31 (EDT)Gerald I drive with a guy who said he ate many meals at your parents resturant while he was in College. He said he had fond memories of that place. I finally remembered going to the resturant after a lot of searching of my memory. Doris I don't remember going home with you girls. How could I forget that. Those times seem like a million years away. We really had it made then. I just wish our kids could have a little bit of what we had then. I think we could raise our kids with a little more comfort. Life for a kid is so hard for this gereration. We haven't heard from Marshall in a while. I guess he is just sitting back reading all of these messages. Hey guys do you remember the most favorite contest we use to have in school. I remember the tickets used to sell for five cents. You could be either the Hatfield or the McCoys. That was one of the contest. We held them every year. It's funny what our memories can bring up.

Lafayette, La USA - Friday, August 30, 2002 at 06:22:09 (EDT)O.P. I like the tiger. Has it been there a long time? I just noticed it.
Betty
USA - Thursday, August 29, 2002 at 20:49:06 (EDT)In those days, many students would buy a meal ticket for $5.00 mostly on Monday's. That was money their parents gave them when they went home for the weekend. They could eat all week on that ticket. A plate lunch was 65 cents, a T-bone steak with all the trimings was the same price. A large sirloin was $1.00. Of course that included ice tea. I was very lucky to have that place. I would walk from home to the Restaurant and then to S.L.I. What a life.

Lafayette, La. USA - Thursday, August 29, 2002 at 20:18:40 (EDT)Yes, Sue I did have a garage sale. It went great. I still have furniture to sell though. Didn't want to get rid of that too quick. I am packing slowly. I don't mind that really. That way I know what is going into the boxes. We always had the co. pack for us before and it is a mess when you go to unpack. All the reminsing is fun isn't it. We probably all can stand to do some of that walking now.
Doris
USA - Thursday, August 29, 2002 at 19:36:04 (EDT)Did we walk!!! We walked to school in the morning, home for lunch, back to school for 1 o'clock and home again at 3 o'clock. One time we thought we would cut through the grave yard and there was some wierdo half dressed doing who knows what. You have never seen two little girls run so fast and we never did that again. One of the reasons we walked with you, Doris (besides your great company)was because you had to walk by Cathedral. I think we were all in good shape from all that walking, don't you? Gerald, I remember your Mom and Dads place. They fed a lot of students. How's the packing coming, Doris? Are you having a garage sale?
Sue
USA - Thursday, August 29, 2002 at 19:28:09 (EDT)I too remember walking everywhere when I was young. We even walked to the Municipal Swimming Pool where the water was BROWN. (No wonder there was a polio epidemic in Lafayette.) Our family had an old car which was handed down to the oldest child at home when I was in high school. I got it in my senior year and Mt. Carmel girls went many places in that old car. I also got many parking tickets on the SLI campus when I drove it to SLI. I have no idea where I was supposed to park, but I don't think I ever parked there.
Brenda
USA - Thursday, August 29, 2002 at 19:18:29 (EDT)You are right Rickey, I remember walking everywhere. My mother never let me drive her car, so I HAD to walk. I was a junior in high school and Howard Langlinais taught me how to drive. I remember walking to the Nona theater from my house, now you know that was far!!! Rickey, do you remember Sue, Gayle and I use to walk home after school everyday and you would ride your bike along with us sometimes to tell us the latest news from Cathedral, like who was going to be on the Homecoming court!!! My brothers use to walk to SLI from our house on Congress St. Things were so differant than. We went to Scotland a couple of years ago and the people over there walk everywhere they want to go. Gasoline is so high there the people can't afford to have cars. Our grandchildren didn't miss having a car at all when they lived there. They took the bus everywhere they wanted to go. Things seem to be a lot safer over there too. One thing, the kids can't get their drivers liscence until they are 17.
Doris
USA - Thursday, August 29, 2002 at 10:52:21 (EDT)Gerald I don't ever remember you Dad's resturant being across from the Roof Garden. I guess my memory is not as good as I thought it was. I remember going to Harvey's house and to Lefty's house. You were right when you said we walked everywhere. I remember going to school and I wasn't allowed to go into Antler's. That's the one place my dad wouldn't let me go. I don't know why nothing ever happened there. I used to walk to the airport and look at the airplanes and to the Pat theater at four corners. The kids now wouldn't do that. It was a different time we were safer.

Harvey
USA - Wednesday, August 28, 2002 at 18:33:29 (EDT)Happy Birthday Carleen. I remember when your mother would have us over for those little dancing parties. I can't name all who were there, but seems like Doris, Janet and OP were. Those were the good days. Rickey, your memory is good. My parents opened their first restaurent on Oak Ave. next to the old Veron's grocery store at the corner of Gordon St. Then they moved to the new restaurent across from the Roof Garden. They were in business for about 12 years early 50's to middle 60's. Harvey and Lefty would walk to the old restaurent to play pin ball and join me for a walk to all of our basketball games. In those days we walked everywhere. Jack's, Bordens, Kellers, Church, School and Antlers Pool Hall.
Gerald Reaux <ggrpsr@aol.com>
Lafayette, La. USA - Wednesday, August 28, 2002 at 11:58:05 (EDT)Gerald I do remember a lot of things about Reaux's Resturant. I don't remember it being across from Voorhies but down the street from Salooms Dress Shop. I can remember how you used to play the pinball machines and how I envied you going to the resturant and having your mother cook you a steak. Boy what memories. Harvey it will be nice to have you back in town. You and Gerald will be able to live at the golf course. I do remember Jimmy Broussard. He was a tall guy. He was kinda on the slow side. I don't think he graudated with us. There were two Jimmy Broussard's. On was the twin of Jerry and he was a year ahead of us. Anyone heard anything about Harold Latolais? How is his wife doing. Seems to me I heard that he is managing a gold course in Jennings. I would be nice to see him again. How about Roland Trahan? He is in New Orleans but I haven't seen him since graduation. Any body care to invite Bro. Albert to the next reunion? Seems like we should invite some of our teachers to the 50th at least those who are still alive. Just a thought. Until next time.

Lafayette, La USA - Sunday, August 25, 2002 at 21:52:21 (EDT)Wow!!! Did that 8th grade picture bring back a flood of memories. I wonder why I was wearing a long sleeve shirt. My mother must have made me do it. I hated wearing long sleeves, knickers, and sandels.Gerald, unknown in the fifth row-Jimmy Hebert??? I believe I have the same picture. I am going to pull out all my old year books and pictures when I get to Lafayette. I have officially entered the old age stage. Dr has put me on BP medication. Its not very high, but he felt it needed to be reduced somewhat. On Sept 4 I see a vascular surgeon for more tests. All my bood work was normal except hypertension. Gerald, does the warrenty begin to wear out at 65???????????????????????
Looking forward to my visit. In fact,I am really thinking seriously about moving back to Lafayette. Doris, the Woodlands is a really nice place. I think you will be happy . When I was in the Insurance business we used to have meetings in the Woodlands area.

USA - Sunday, August 25, 2002 at 13:24:05 (EDT)I too was very curious about the Palace Restuarant. I asked an old timer over here and he told me it was located on University just before Pinhook on the left. Near where the Dairy Queen was located. This was in 1953 and ironically my Uncle had that same resturant prior to Nolan Simon owning it. Does anyone remember Reaux's cafe across from the old Voorhies Roof Garden.

Woodbridge, VA USA - Saturday, August 24, 2002 at 19:24:15 (EDT)O.P., you mentioned that you archived some of the old stuff from this website. Is it possible to read any of it? If so, how would I go about reading some of the original messages? Betty, I too was thinking about J.J. I hope he is traveling and enjoying himself since he is not writing on this site. Doris, I hope everything works out for the sale of your house. When Elizabeth and her husband bought a new house after they got married, the owners opted to repair the things the inspector found. It must have been to their advantage. Sue, why did you have that 8th grade picture of the Cathedral boys? Enjoyed seeing those immature guys and then see some of them in their recent photographs as mature men. It's so difficult to realize that most of them are all old enough to retire and have reached that wise old age of 65.

Woodbridge, VA USA - Saturday, August 24, 2002 at 15:06:00 (EDT)Betty, I am in the process of moving the web site to a new server with more disk space. There may be some interruption of the guestbook in the next day or so. If you submit something and it doesn't show up, be patient, and let me know via direct email. The new server should have all the same capabilities...... if I do it right. But there might be some temporary loss of comments along the way.

Lafayette, La USA - Friday, August 23, 2002 at 14:26:19 (MDT)Sue, that is MSN (Microsoft) that is messsing with your address book. Take a look at the picture of our 8th Grade on the front page. Woodbridge, VA USA - Friday, August 23, 2002 at 12:21:40 (MDT)Yes, Sue I did send you an e-mail. I wanted you to have my e-mail address for your address book. I am leary of putting it on this website, so I was sending it to you via e-mail. Well we are getting down to the nitty gritty of the sale. Our house had some discrepancies that the purchasers want us to fix. We are contemplating either fixing them or giving them money to fix or just refusing. Please pray that we make the right decission. They are asking pretty much!!! We will know more by the week-end.

Doris, did you send me an e-mail? I got something from cdprovost and deleted it. I wasn't sure where it really came from. Guess you're packing for the big move. I've been thinking about you. Are you downsizing? Take care!

USA - Thursday, August 22, 2002 at 20:04:57 (MDT)Good to hear from Larry and Sue. Larry, we had a great time golfing at Acadian Hills Wednesday morning. The course was in surpriseingly good shape considering all the rain we have been getting. When Harvey and Carroll get here I will call you. Sue, OP checked out our computer and found no viruses. He did caution us to screen all of our e mails carefully. Especially the attachments which contain the virus. We received one this morning that said it was from OP and it was not. So I did not download it. Someone must not like us to enjoy ourselves.
Gerald Reaux <ggrpsr@aol.com>
Lafayette, La USA - Thursday, August 22, 2002 at 11:17:56 (MDT)Sorry Larry, I'm not spreading viruses these days. I got a bunch too but I do know not to open anything I don't recognize. My problem isn't a virus, it's the AOL people. I've been checking every morning and the address book isn't back yet. OP, (the pro) checked it out and he says that sometimes this happens and I may or may not get it back. The bad thing is I can't put any addresses back until the little message that tells me they are looking for the addresses clears the screen. I guess it will work itself out.
Sue
USA - Thursday, August 22, 2002 at 07:35:03 (MDT) Ok you guys; I had the same thing happen to me. My computer was sending out viruses , and I was receiving some (LOTS) from people on my AOL instant messanger list??? Ok this is what I did to get rid of this.It may get a little complicated for some of you but here it is.
go to www.symantec.com and run a securitu check on your computer. it is FREE. See how many files are infected. I had to download a "FIX". I had to use
W32.Klez removal tool. just follow the instructions and it will work. Mine got rid of this.

Lafayette la, USA - Thursday, August 22, 2002 at 07:24:15 (MDT)Sue as you can see my e-mail address hasn't changed lately. I had a talk with OP last night and he told me I had better watch someone to mess up my computer. Don't download anything from anyone you don't know. I fact someone has gotten all of our e-mail addresses and can download a virus. We really don't stand a chance. Hey everyone OP and I are planning a cruise to the Panama Canel next year. Anyone insterested on coming with us. We should have a blast. All of you who wanted to come to Alaska with us can now make the trip. I think we are going to plan it in April before hurricane season. Let either myself or OP know. Have a great day.

Do you have a new e-mail address. I can't retreive my address book. OP says it isn't a virus and AOL will do this from time to time so I don't know when I'll get it back. Is anybody else having this trouble? I had to write everybody's address down on a piece of paper. What's yours?

USA - Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at 19:31:53 (MDT)Just a note to say ditto on seeing "Fat Greek Wedding"---It's the kind of movie that makes us realize how different we are---and APPRECIATE IT. With a few cultural changes (food, accent, clothes, etc.) it could have been "Fat Cajun Wedding". The ability to laugh at ourselves and to accept ourselves as we really are is one of the strongest characteristics we cajuns can brag about---When other people find out what really makes us tick, (fun, fun, fun) they usually join in. I LOVED the movie!

Iron River, Wi USA - Tuesday, August 20, 2002 at 16:02:46 (MDT)Well we went to The Woodlands this week-end and after looking for 2 days bought the first house we looked at 3 weeks ago. It hadn't been sold so I think it was just meant to be ours. I can't wait to be living near my children again. We also baptized the baby this week-end. My son wouldn't let any of us put a baptismal dress on his BOY so the baby got baptized bare feet in just the slip of the dress. That was as far as Mitch let us go with the dress. Matt didn't seem to care though he smiled through the whole thing.Shea Baby!!!!.
We will be moving Sept. 20. Thanks for all your prayers. I love you guys!!!

I'm sure you will be able to tell me how to solve the problem, right OP? Until then I can still send these messages. The message on the screen says that the computer still has the addresses and it is trying to get them back to me but so far nothing has happened.

USA - Sunday, August 18, 2002 at 20:30:42 (MDT) Ok you guys; I'm sneaking in here, because i always read all you chats. I had this e-mail virus. My son Paul , in the navy sent me this and it works. DO_IT
I got the virus, but fixed it this morning. Go to symantec.com and look for the W32.Sircam.Worm removal tool. Follow the directions for removal. Mine worked best by booting up in the safe mode. to do this you have to reboot and then when the ME menu comes up hit cntl+alt+del and the reboot this will take you into the menu for restart, select safe mode then go to where the fix was located and double click. start it, it will remove the virus.

Venice, FL USA - Saturday, August 17, 2002 at 18:35:00 (MDT)OK yall. I have no idea what you all are talking about. Could this stupid virus delete all of my address book? I can't seem to retreive it. Henrietta, would you care to come over and have coffee some morning soon and maybe you could rescue me. Gerald, maybe your son could send us all that message. HELP!
Sue
USA - Saturday, August 17, 2002 at 17:53:11 (MDT)Anxious to hear what you find out O.P. I tried entering the "0" address a long time ago...I forgot what it was now. However I kept getting "invalid" entry!

Venice, FL USA - Friday, August 16, 2002 at 06:03:57 (MDT)Ok, this is what my computer expert friend says about the 00000 email address in your address book.
Yes ... this make sense to me ...
at work I use !00000 ... I think ... I will look tomorrow to see how I set it up ...
O. P. Ditch <op@opditch.com>
Woodbridge, VA USA - Thursday, August 15, 2002 at 20:30:26 (MDT)Henrietta, this sounds pretty good. I have emailed a friend of mine to see what he thinks about it. I'll let you know what he says. In the meantime, it wouldn't hurt to try it I think.
O. P. Ditch <op@opditch.com>
Woodbridge, VA USA - Thursday, August 15, 2002 at 18:46:27 (MDT)Reading about the viruses via e-mail. A friend advised us to put something
nosensical, like several digits beginning in "0" or "1" as your first entry in your address book. Then if a virus arrives via e-mail, I understand it goes to
your address book and runs down the list spreading the virus. However, if your
nonsensical digit address is listed first, it stops there because the virus can
only travel to the next address in your address book after it has transmitted
to the first. So, if no one has that digit-type address, the virus stops there.
Does this make sense, O.P.? Henrietta

Lafayette, LA USA - Thursday, August 15, 2002 at 18:35:02 (MDT)OP You are so smart!!!!! Well, you totally lost me so I will take my laptop to the MacMedic because all of this seems like a foreign language. Betty

USA - Thursday, August 15, 2002 at 18:12:22 (MDT)My son Raymond sent us an e mail that seems to have cured our computer. Don't ask me to explain what it did or if it will stay that way, because I have no clue. This is tough on senior citizens. Thanks for all the birthday wishes.

Lafayette, La. USA - Thursday, August 15, 2002 at 13:21:25 (MDT)Ok, in reference to the "Happy ......." viruses. You may think that YOU are not sending them, but you might be and you don't know it. The way these viruses work is that they run from automatic executibles that come into you as attachments. Then they automaticaly execute themselves and send out emails to everyone in your address book without you knowing it. They have come to me with different names and different extensions. Some are .SCR, PIF, EXE or some don't even have extensions. You need to look in your email attachments folders to find them and delete them. Some of you may need to change the display mode of your Windows Explorer programs. This may be over some of your heads technically to do. You may need to get someone more computer literate to come and check your machine. Some of you may even have to get virus software to clean your hard drives off.

San Diego, CA USA - Thursday, August 15, 2002 at 11:28:59 (MDT)I have been getting a lot of thos Happy Assumption e-mails - probably 6 at least and I have deleted them all. One came from Doris and she said she never sent it - wonder what sicko is doing this. Betty I didn't open any of the attachments so I don't know what it is. I would have opened Doris's but I had received about 4 from "unknown" addresses and I thought something was "fishy".
Betty
USA - Thursday, August 15, 2002 at 07:24:58 (MDT)Hey, don't blame me. I didn't send Happy Assumption to anyone. I don't know where it came from but it's not from me. I don't use any of those names anymore. It might be a virus and can crash your computers. As you can see my new address is nothing like the other two you guys got. Anyway things are going well with the book. It's starting to sell well. Barbara has several speaking engagements so far. One in New Orleans and her son is trying to get one in Biloxi MS. Happy birthday Gerald. I quit having and celebrating birthdays. I can't find anything to celebrate getting older. I got a call from OP yesterday and he said he could get use of the climate. I don't think he would ever leave the D.C. area. All of his grandkids and children are within a five hour drive. Hope this finds everyone well.
Rickey <Rickey36@aol.com>
Lafayette, La USA - Thursday, August 15, 2002 at 05:46:18 (MDT)Sue I have been getting that "happy assumption" virus also. Mine comes in with the address rickey_guiterez@hotmail.com My virus program catches it every time before I open it. I was going to give Rickey and Barb a call if it came thru again. I don't know enough about computers to know if it is on their hard drive or what???
Marshall <larr1710@comcast.net>
Venice, FL USA - Thursday, August 15, 2002 at 04:49:37 (MDT)Sue, OP sent me an e mail from Calfornia and suspected that "have a new assumption" was a virus and to delete it from my hard drive if I find it. I looked for it and could not find it. Maybe you should do the same. It's hard to believe computers get sick.

Iron River, Wi USA - Wednesday, August 14, 2002 at 09:17:11 (MDT)Brenda, I hope not! But you know that was the first thing Charles said "If we move to Houston, you know you won't be able to run to Lafayette at the drop of a hat!" Well, mabe if I know far enough in advance I can schedule a visit to my daughter's at the same time, huh.
Doris
USA - Monday, August 12, 2002 at 20:33:16 (MDT)Happy birthday Gerald. Two more months and I will join th 65 club. The doctor feels that my leg problem is probably caused by poor circulation; however, I have to get a whole bunch of tests before any kind of treatment can begin, if any. I did quit smoking two weeks ago and as the doctor said it has helped tremendously. I played three rounds of golf recently and had no pain, although it did not help my game. Thanks for the stem cell info.
Harvey
USA - Monday, August 12, 2002 at 16:10:59 (MDT)Happy 65th Birthday,Gerald! Good things happen when you turn 65. Doris, I know you're happy that you've sold your house, but does it mean that you won't be able to come to our mini-reunions? You were so faithful! Maybe you can keep tabs on Avis and keep us informed. Harvey, let us know what you find out about your leg problem. Marshall, I thought about you this weekend. An article about the little Cajun saint was featured in the Morning Advocate Saturday. Check it out online.
Brenda
USA - Monday, August 12, 2002 at 15:05:31 (MDT)Harvey, do you think the pain in your lower legs is caused by poor circulation. I just read about some research where they inject your own stem cells into your legs and new blood vessels are created thus improving circulation. I'll send you the article via e-mail. Hope they find the cause of your problem. Betty

USA - Monday, August 12, 2002 at 07:34:35 (MDT)You are right about Camp Merryhill belonging to the K.C. Gerald, but no I was never a counselor there. Yep you can un-bury St. Joseph now Doris...he's done his job! You can hand it on to someone else in the future who might be having problems their house. You'd be surprised how many non-catholics become "believers" when their house is not selling and they are getting short on money!!!
Marshall <larr1710@comcast.net>
Venice, FL USA - Monday, August 12, 2002 at 04:48:03 (MDT)Happy Birthday, Gerald. I know you must have had a great one with all your children around. Guess what y'all! We signed a contract on our house!! So it looks like we go to the Woodlands the end of this week and look for a house over there. Chuck has been looking for us and has a few he wants us to look at. I will be glad to get into a smaller house and not have so much to clean. My daughter-in-law wants me to get rid of all our old furniture and start all over.RIGHT!! She is getting so excited, and has all these decorating ideas. It will be so good to be near my children. I just can imagine what it is like. My children have all been living away from us since they were out of college. Marshall, does St. Joseph stay buried? Or can I resurrect him? I understand the people who are buying our house are not catholic, I am sure they will wonder why I have a statue buried in my flower garden. Thanks for the prayers.
Doris
USA - Sunday, August 11, 2002 at 21:09:22 (MDT)Good to hear from you Harvey. We will definitely play golf when you arrive. Maybe Carroll will be here and we can call Donald and play our regular game. I believe OP is on his way to visit his son in San Diego. The last time they visited was the 9/11 tragedy and we were with them. Visited with Carlene and Phil during lunch today at Edie's they look great. We were there with most of our family celebrating my 65th birthday. One of our granddaughters just returned from a Christian camp in Tyler Texas. It's called Pine Cove. It reminded me of when OP, Ray, Red, maybe Marshall and I were counselers at Camp Merryhill. It was quite an experience. Does anyone recall that? I believe it was a Knights of Columbus sponsered facility near Alexandria, La.
Gerald Reaux <ggrpsr@aol.com>
Lafayette, La. USA - Sunday, August 11, 2002 at 19:35:50 (MDT)OP, how about them Redskins!!!!! You had better have a little talk with Mr Spurrier about running up the score. Too early to begin doing that-its played a little different in the pros. Although I personally think his way of doing things is great. You are supposed to try to score every time you have the ball-right? I wish them Cowboys had him. The Houston Texans are going to give some teams tough games. I have been up in Dallas for a little while-spending some time with my son. Gerald , will be in La around Sept 15 and plan to stay thru Oct. Looking forward to a little golf-hopefully in cooler weather. I have been having some pain in the lower portion of both my legs after walking . Seeing the Dr this thursday. Hope we can clear this up before my La trip.
Harvey

USA - Wednesday, August 07, 2002 at 05:34:37 (MDT)Brenda, Suzie, my youngest daughter is in graduate school a LSU and lives alone in an apartment. She is very afrid to go out alone. It really is a terrible feeling for her and I worry. I think I'll suggest those self defense classes they're offering. She has spent a lot of time here this summer but school starts in a few weeks. One of the girls killed was in graduate school with her.It doesn't matter how old they are, I still worry. Where is everybody? It's been so quiet. I guess we're all lazy in this heat. Who has a scanner over here? I have a wonderful picture of the 8th grade Cathedral class. I must have been in love with Ray and Gene Cella at the time because their heads a circled. Yall can have fun with this one.

Venice, FL USA - Tuesday, August 06, 2002 at 19:02:42 (MDT)We do have a dilemma over here. The city is providing a safety night at a large park to give women pointers on how to avoid the serial killer. At the same time, we are being urged to remain indoors to avoid the West Nile Virus spread by mosquito bites. What to do?
Brenda
USA - Tuesday, August 06, 2002 at 17:06:04 (MDT)I asked OP about Boris and he said he didn't know who it is. I love a mystery. He said it was probably someone who was surfing and came upon the web site. Seems a little far fetched because I can't find things when I know where to look. He is right about one thing it is a great web site. I really enjoy knowing what the class is doing. Brenda, you go girl. We need a leader. I'm gaad you took on the chore. You will be great. Hey class if you want the book and fill out the order blank I'll be glad to send you a book. It's Barbara's best on so far. Well keep in touch.

USA - Friday, August 02, 2002 at 17:22:00 (MDT)Brenda, if you mean am I home from Texas the answer is yes. I've been back for a couple weeks now. Billy wanted to go to the D-Day Museum so Carleen, Phil and Billy and I went to New Orleans early yesterday morning. The museum is very, very interesting and we enjoyed it. Then we had a wonderful dinner at Commander's Palace. Even though it was a short trip we had a good time ---its always fun to go to New Orleans. We stayed at the Wyndham right on the river and I could just sit and watch the ships on the river from the room. It doesn't take much to entertain me!!!!!!! What is happening with those awful murders, Brenda? Do they seem to be making any progress in solving them. Its so horrible to think there is a serial killer luring around. Betty

USA - Friday, August 02, 2002 at 12:54:31 (MDT)Now, now Brenda don't be so hard on us. It's vacation time. We just returned from Hot Springs Village visiting with our second son Raymond. He rented deck boats while we were there. Beautiful country. Doris did you bury St. Joseph near the dog. I hope not. My daughter sold her home not too long ago and was able to get a "bridge loan". Don't know much about it but she was able to move into her new home before she sold her existing one. Sue heard you read again last Sunday, good job. HELLO HARVEY are you there. I have been playing golf twice a week. Sometime I walk and sometime I ride. It depends on the foursome. Looks like we all will be medicare eligable this year. Better enjoy life while we can. We will be visiting with Daniel and Erline this weekend in Lake Jackson Texas at a Reaux 80th birthday party/family gettogether. I think he is still working full time. Will keep in touch thanks for reminding me Brenda.

Venice, FL USA - Thursday, August 01, 2002 at 22:05:22 (MDT)I was wondering why it was so quiet. Who is Boris?????? I've been playing on Google, Brenda. Everything you've always wanted to know about everything. We're going to Rome at Thanksgiving with the choir from St. Marys so I've been checking out our hotels and places to see in Assisi. Yvonne (my sister) is in the bell choir and she needed a room-mate so I get to go with her. I can't wait. Doris, what's happening with your house? Marshall, sounds like you have a wonderful life. Who else saw OP and Shirley in New York?
Sue
USA - Thursday, August 01, 2002 at 20:51:27 (MDT)Well we have had a lot of people looking at the house and have had two offers, but they were both less, than we want for it. It is still early in the game so we are holding out. We really don't have a deadline to sell. One of the offers was suppose to come back this afternoon, but I don't think they came, I will know more tomorrow. We have to take the dog and leave everytime the house is shown. It is a pain, because we get tired of just riding around with the dog. I would park the car somewhere and walk him, but it is so hot. Fri. we had three showings. And they always stay for about 30 to 45 min. looking. I felt like I had been on a trip. Well if the Lord wants us to sell we will. The only bad thing is we can't really look for a house in Houston until we have a contract over here, and we can't get rid of furniture and things until we know how big a house we are going into. But I am sure everything will work out, I am not worried. I know I have your prayers. Thanks.
Doris
USA - Thursday, August 01, 2002 at 20:37:04 (MDT)Brenda! I didn't know you were so PASSIVE! Ha! My company is in Miami and we have been playing phone tag since Friday...do don't know if he or they will come after all...Archbishop John Favalora of Miami and Msgr. You would love Ebay.com. Check it out. Marshall, have you had any more company visiting in Fla.? Betty, are you home yet? Henrietta, do you know Boris? O.P., how is your family doing? Gerald, haven't heard from you in a long while. Harvey, you seem to travel a lot. Rickey, guess those new books are flying off the shelves. Now, if you, Rosella, Avis, Janet, Alice, Minette, Cile, Patsy, Maugie, June, Darryl, Pete, Howard, Robert, Daniel, and any others are reading this web site without leaving us a note, please consider saying hello. - Monday, July 29, 2002 at 00:35:53 (MDT)O.P., we are all so sorry to hear about Melvin's wife's death. Betty noticed it in the paper and informed all of us. I guess you didn't hear about it until later as you and Shirley were in New York. We will remember all of your family in prayer. Take care.
Brenda <jatkin19321@cox.net>
USA - Sunday, July 28, 2002 at 20:39:23 (MDT)Brenda, while we were in NYC, there was a power outage here at the Condo and so Shirley's computer did not reboot. I have to fix that so it reboots all the way. I was running short of disk space on the web server and are now running some of them from home. Sorry, but you should be able to get the other photos again. If not, let me know which ones you can't get. We were just lucky to be out side when they did the outdoor segments. They had heard of me before because I have emailed them about the Bush2004 site and mailed them stickers and such too.

Woodbridge, VA USA - Sunday, July 28, 2002 at 18:21:59 (MDT)O.P. I checked out your family web site and saw your photos from New York. How did you and Shirley manage to get your pictures taken with the hosts of the Fox and Friends show? It looks like you all were having a great time! By the way, maybe it's just my computer, but I can no longer open some of the pictures on the Home Page of this web site. Can you check them out?
Brenda <jatkin19321@cox.net>
USA - Sunday, July 28, 2002 at 09:31:26 (MDT)Ok, we are wrapping it up here in NYC. Yes Sue, we saw two broadway shows and did the doubledecker bus tour. You can see all my photos on my family web site http://www.opditch.com . We saw the show 42nd Street, and also Thouroughly Modern Millie. We also went to Ground Zero (WTC) - what a sad thing to see. After seeing all that rubble on tv, it is all gone now. Just about all that is standing is a steel beam cross and a flagpole. You can see that in my pictures. We are leaving this morning via Amtrak train.

Woodbridge, VA USA - Sunday, July 28, 2002 at 06:11:04 (MDT)I hope those of you who didn't see OP on Friday tuned in today. That was you in the yellow shirt and white baseball cap! We could see you better today. I bet y'all are having a wonderful time in the big city. What else have you done for fun over there?
Sue
USA - Saturday, July 27, 2002 at 09:10:02 (MDT)Would you believe I forgot to watch Fox and Friends. OP called me that night and asked me if I had seen him and when I told him know I think he was a little disappointed. I completely forgot. Brenda who is Martha? I don't remember your family. I know that there was Stewart but I've forgotten the rest of your family. Hey gang do you remember a play we were in in grammer school? It was Treasure Island. I remember I played a pirate in the play. It was on the stage in the old Mt. Carmel Auditorium. I forgot who else was in the play. I had only one speaking part. "Oh, know you don't John Silver take this Black Spot" funny the things you remember. Way to go Sue. Seems like you have gotten this thing down pat. Not on to bigger and better things on the computer.

Lafayette, La USA - Saturday, July 27, 2002 at 06:32:15 (MDT)Just wanted everyone to know that I saw O.P. and Shirley in NY at 6:10 PM our time at http://www.earthlink.com/usa/newyork/timessquare/. He sent me an instant message and asked me to try and see them. He called me on his cell phone and I asked him to raise his hand and he did. Is this high tech or what.

Lafayette, La. USA - Saturday, July 27, 2002 at 05:39:44 (MDT)O.P., not only did I see you on Fox and Friends, but I got a little of you and your sign on tape. Bt the way, Martha told me that our Dad had a peculiar devotion to Charlene, the Cajun saint. She said that he used to visit her grave regularly. That was the first time I ever heard that. Speaking of Martha, she recently received an international award in Canada for her work with the Blind here in Louisiana.

Zachary, LA USA - Thursday, July 25, 2002 at 21:27:22 (MDT)I started the book at 4 p.m. Barbara and finished it at 9:30 p.m. Great job! It far exceded my expectations. It is very well written and the stories are extremely inspirational. The fact that Charlene played a very important part in my life recently, I'm sure had some influence on the effect the book had on me. I have no doubt that we have a Cajun Saint!

Woodbridge, VA USA - Thursday, July 25, 2002 at 04:56:03 (MDT)Brenda, you are right that is Sue next to Wilhemina and Rosemary next to Barbara. There were two missing from the picture. We sure were crowded in that classroom, remember we were sitting practaclly on top of the radiators? We just came back from Houston. We went to see the Lion King. It was fantastic. I always marvel at such creative people who can put on a stage production such as this. Totally Awsome!!!

Woodbridge, VA USA - Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at 05:52:01 (MDT)OP. Betty says to ask you why the 8th grade picture isn't popping up on my screen. Is there somethig I can do to find it or maybe this computer can't get pop up pictures.
Sue
USA - Monday, July 22, 2002 at 16:19:10 (MDT)Suzanne, that is one of the limitations of that Internet Appliance you have, it can't see the "popup windows". I have added the picture to the links on the first page so you can see it.

Brenda
USA - Monday, July 22, 2002 at 06:44:30 (MDT)Doris, you did a great job identifying our pictures. However, I think Suzanne is standing next to Wilhelmina and Rosemary is next to Barbara Duhon. I also think that it might be Jeanette next to Suzanne and Jackie Richardson some place else. Who is the world was Nina Claire Mouton? I don't remember her at all. Did we think it peculiar that we had an Ena Claire and a Nina Claire? Thanks for supplying the picture, Rosemary. It does remind me that I have something kin to Altzheimers as I never can remember anything.

USA - Sunday, July 21, 2002 at 19:36:39 (MDT)DORIS, you really did some work!!!! Forty-two in one class---were you all in one room? I can't imagine having 42 desks in those small rooms. How did yall stand up in the aisles when called on? Seems as if the Fire Dept. would have objected to that arrangement!!!!!! Thanks for the names. I will copy this and then look at the picture. Betty

USA - Sunday, July 21, 2002 at 19:32:25 (MDT)About our Eigth Grade Graduation picture. I happen to have a '51 yearbook. There was 42 in our Class and the picture shows just 40. Was there 2 missing?
Here are the names that I came up with, comparing them to the names and pictures in the yearbook. Row 1. Barbara Daigle, Margaret Riehl, Gayle Robicheaux, Del Rita Foreman, Ena Claire Landry, Joan Elmer, Brenda Meaux, Minette Horaist, Carleen Cates, Nina Claire Mouton(I thought it was Martin, but the book says Mouton), Janet Declouet, Maugie Landry, Janet Crume
Row.2 Pearl Dugas, Catherine Mouton, Jaqueline Mouton, Gayle Arceneaux, Patricia Nelson, Lorraine Duhon, Pauline Dronet, Doris Landry, Patsy Acord, Mary Anthony Trappey, Sylvia Dore, Halina Koziell, Virginia Badeaux, Rosella Granadas. Row 3. Jackie Mequet, Jeanette LeBlanc, Henrietta Bertrand, Wilhelmina LeBlanc, (Don't know), Jackie Richardson, Madeline Krauss, Mary Elizabeth Lemmon, Barbara Duhon, ( Don't know ) Beverly Mouton, Avis Moore, Mary Elizabeth Webb. Now I can't find Mary Alice Guchereau, Suzanne --Where are you Sue???? Genevieve Cates, and Rosemary Judice. Which one are you Rosemary? Since you sent this in I know you can tell me.
I probably am wrong with these names . Anyone else has any ideas? Boy that was a big class. No wonder we drove those nuns wild. That was Sister Ann Carmel, poor thing.

USA - Sunday, July 21, 2002 at 19:05:19 (MDT)WalMart has Crawfish Betty...boiled in 5 lb bags and frozen...packed by "Bernard's" in New Orleans I think...Cajun Seasoned..not bad. They also have the tails frozen..distributed by Bernard's but processed in China...cleaned to perfection without any of the "black thing" in them!
The New England Clam bake always had weinners with the potatoes and corn, so I started adding them. Like my brother Hugh, I'm a hot dog nut!!! A weinner with mustard, chopped onions, sweet relish and chili sauce is MUCH better than steak! As we say in Philosophy: "De Gustebus Non Disputandum Est"...taste cannot be disputed.
I always boil the potatoes, corn and weiners separate from the crawfish, shrimp, crab or lobster. Thank God I just ate! I'm getting hungry just talking about it! Ha!
Marshall <larr1710@comcast.net>
Venice, FL USA - Sunday, July 21, 2002 at 18:22:08 (MDT)Marshall, Brenda said you were a good cook and the food was delicious. Billy and I love boiled shrimp so I cook them regularly, but I never heard of putting weiners in the pot ---I'll have to try that. Can you get crawfish down there?
Betty
USA - Sunday, July 21, 2002 at 14:00:07 (MDT)Brenda, I am going to have to get Carleen and Patsy over here to help me figure out who all the girls are----I, of course, was not in that picture. I didn't arrive til the next year. If they do come over, I'll send you the names as they appear in the picture. I think the older I get the more I look like my mother---except she had black hair and brown eyes and I had green eyes like my daddy. That comparison would be fun I think. Betty
Betty
USA - Sunday, July 21, 2002 at 12:13:38 (MDT)Doris, you gave me an idea when you mentioned that Rosella looks like her mother. I think I look just like my mother and, I'll bet most of us look like a parent. Wouldn't it be interesting to see pictures of us beside a picture of that parent? About the 8th grade graduation picture, I can't identify half of them. I didn't realize that we had many more classmates in the 8th grade than when we graduated.
Brenda <jatkin19321@cox.net>
USA - Sunday, July 21, 2002 at 10:42:54 (MDT)Thanks so much Brenda and O.P. for sharing these pictures with us. It does mean so much for us who can't go to these occasions to see them on the webpage. I am usually there, but this time I couldn't make it and I realize now how good it is to see what went on. I am so sorry I didn't get to see Rosella. She reminds me of her mother in these pictures. Marshall your place is beautiful!!!

USA - Sunday, July 21, 2002 at 07:37:39 (MDT)All the work at the Retreat Center is done by volunteers Betty. I "manage" the landscapping people. In his "Rule Book", St. Benedict said: "One becomes a Monk when he does enough work to 'earn his keep'!" So I guess I'm a Monk. The "big" pots are on the stove, so I was cooking Boiled Shrimp (16/20 lb) and corn, potatoes and weiners...Crawfish Ettouffee followed the next day!!!

Venice, FL USA - Saturday, July 20, 2002 at 21:42:48 (MDT)BRENDA, I just looked at the pictures and loved them. It looks like yall were really having fun. I am so sorry I missed seeing Rosella. MARSHALL, what were you cooking? That is a nice picture of you and Brenda. The grounds are really pretty as Brenda mentioned. That must take a lot of work!!!!! Thanks again for taking the time to send the pictures, Brenda, and thanks to you, O.P., for setting it up for us to see them. Betty

Woodbridge, VA USA - Saturday, July 20, 2002 at 19:00:37 (MDT)Well Doris, I scanned and sent about 15 pictures to O.P. from Rosella's luncheon. I took an individual picture of each one of our class mates and some candid shots which included Rosella's sister. I also sent some pictures of our trip to Marshall's in Venice, Fla. Look at the scenery behind the people in the pictures to see how pretty the retreat center grounds are. Marshall is the one responsible for the landscaping and upkeep. Maybe I should have sent O.P. the originals because I never think the scanned pictures are as clear as the originals. Hope you have time to put them on the web site, O.P. Thanks for your trouble.

USA - Saturday, July 20, 2002 at 18:25:13 (MDT)Yes, Sue as a matter of fact, as I go through things I make two piles, one to give away and one to sell at garage sale. But we can't have a sale until we see what we are moving into and what furniture we will not be using. And we don't want to get a house over there until we have a contract on this one.
Doris <cdprovost@cox-internet.com>
USA - Saturday, July 20, 2002 at 11:15:27 (MDT)Hey Doris, have you thought of a giant garage sale? You could probably make enough to pay for your move. It's surprising what people will buy. It is a lot of work and people were arriving before the sun came up but I sure got rid of a lot of junk and people paid me for it.
Sue
USA - Friday, July 19, 2002 at 21:04:47 (MDT)I brought my film to be developed today and will scan pictures tomorrow of Rosella's luncheon and our visit to Marshall's home. Marshall seems to love company and is a great cook and wonderful host. We even went swimming in his pool. Hope all of my pictures come out. We'll see.

USA - Thursday, July 18, 2002 at 20:30:53 (MDT)Doris, I was going to tell you about burying the St. Joseph statue, but Marshall beat me to it. One of Eliz.'s friends in D.C. buried one and she sold her condo in a week. I had never heard about the little plastic statue so she sent me one. Be sure to keep us posted.

USA - Thursday, July 18, 2002 at 18:03:20 (MDT)Doris, you have to invite your kids over to collect some of their inheritance a little early. In fact, we had to invite them over several times, as we came to realize just how much we had to "downsize" to.

Woodbridge, VA USA - Thursday, July 18, 2002 at 10:56:22 (MDT)OK, I just went and buried him. I will let you know how it works. Crossroads gave me a little prayer and all to go with him. Boy, this getting ready to move is some work. And I know we haven't even begun to start with the big stuff. It's getting rid of stuff you have accumulated in 25 years of living in one place. O.P. I am sure you know what I mean.

Venice, FL USA - Tuesday, July 16, 2002 at 20:09:27 (MDT)We just wanted to say hello to all of you who aren't enjoying a few days in Florida. As soon as the pictures are developed, you'll get to see how lovely this place is. Marshall says that he LOVES company and Brenda says the trip is well worth it to get to this southern part of Florida. John, Fr. Jerome Dugas and Brenda are visiting Marshall and will be until tomorrow. There certainly is a lot of activity on the website, we're happy to see. Doris, we can't believe you are moving to Texas, but your new surroundings sound great. Betty, hope you come home soon. Sue, the website is fun, isn't it? Ditto Marshall..
you'll come!!!!

Anyway Ed and I still can't get over the fact that we had our old schools in common. He is a lawer over here. He went to S.L.I. (was then, at least). But like I said he is six years younger than we are so probably none of you remember Ed. Yes, Sue this is fun huh. Please say some prayers for us that we sell and get a good price for our house and that the buy over there is the right thing to do. I feel that if I put it in the Lord's hands it will be.

How long has your daughter been in the decorating business? She must be pretty busy. I love to shop for fabric and trims in Houston, lot of places. Thanks for the compliment, Gerald. Reading at mass is my most favorite thing to do. Did you know that Julien is no longer on the staff at St. Marys? He has some big job with the diocese and his boss was the priest from Broussard. He will be serving as deacon at the weekend masses and handeling the interviews for weddings and that's all. He's a great person and we are going to miss him. Bye for now! Sue

I would have a hard time leaving this place after 39 years. I don't want to think about my next one. Sue I heard you read at 11:00 o'clock Mass Sunday. The Sisters taught you well. Julian was the deacon and as always takes care of everything. Carroll it has been raining over here for several days. I was lucky to get 18 holes in Saturday. Brenda I noticed that the Blue Runners were playing at the Blue Moon Saloom in Lafayette last week. Is that Floyd's boys? Harvey try to stay dry. You need to return to Cajun Country when Carroll does.

Lafayette, La USA - Monday, July 15, 2002 at 14:59:12 (MDT)Hi Gang,
Just a few comments after checking the website which I very much enjoy.
We (class of '56) had a Fonti in our class, nicknamed "Didi" or "Dede" but I don't remember which year in high school---it must have been junior at least because there was a big joke going around that two drunk azalea bushes jumped
in front of his car in front of the orphanage on St. Mary Blvd. Idon't think he graduated with us--I don't have my yearbook here in the northland.
Also of note--the latest Advertiser cookbook contains a picture of my daughter, Carrie, who was on the cover of the '65 issue--Godfather Kearney Leger please take note and Carrie sends her love. Also, Bruce, I know you're reading this so send me a line or two--I've lost your e-mail address.
Gerry, the back is holding up but the game isn't---but you'll have to wait till October to start collecting the cash--I've got more to say to you and bruce but I don't want to clutter up the website. O.P., thanks loads for your work. Bye.

Ed said he remembers me being on the Homecoming court and that is when I was a senior, so I guessed his brother was in our class, mabe he was a Jr. at the time. I don't know.I wish I had my year book to see if Ann Fonti was in it. O.P. the Woodlands is a community North of Houston on Hiway 45. It is really a wonderful place to live. It is like what it is called "Woodlands" with bike paths and walk-ways winding through it. Sue my daughter-in-law has started an enterior decorating buisness and wants me to help her with window treatments and things, should be fun.

We got 4 and l/2 inches yesterday in just a matter of hours (we were in Fredericksburg at mass when the downpour occurred. It looks like the sky is going to open up again this morning. We leave for Houston tomorrow--will be home Friday. OP, The Woodlands. Texas, is a VERY, VERY nice place to live---its between Houston and Conroe, Texas. Patsy and Doris can give you more specifics since some of their children live there. SUE, I'll be happy to mail O.P. the pictures for you ---I think I still have his address---I don't have a scanner. Sounds like your Fla. vacation was great - I'm "jealous". Patsy asked me to post this note. Avis called her yesterday. She had finished this chemo session and was feeling fairly good. The doctors were going to decide if they were going to operate on her ---I am sure she or one of her daughters will let Patsy know. Please remember her in your prayers.

USA - Sunday, July 14, 2002 at 19:46:59 (MDT)Hey Guys, Do any of you boys remember someone who graduated with you, with the last name of Fonti, I think his first name is Gary. Anyway his younger brother, Ed, lives next door to me. We have been neighbors for seven years and just discovered today that we both went to the same school. He also has a sister Ann Fonti that was a freshman at Mt. Carmel when we were seniors.
Ed was a little sixth grader when we were seniors. Both of us couldn't get over the coinsidence. I have some other news we are putting our house up for sale here in Lake Charles and are moving either to or near the Woodlands to be near our boys. When we went last week-end they convinced us that we need to move there since I am now retired. It is very hard to get use to, because we have such dear friends here in Lake Charles. We have lived here for 25 years. Longer than we have ever lived anywhere. But family does come first when you get to be our age. And that is where my grandbabies are, so that is reason enough right there.

Betty hope everything is going well in Texas. How is Avis doing? Haven't heard from her is quiet a while. Hope she is still feeling good. Haven't heard from Mary Elizabeth since we left Georgia. I guess I will have to call her. Brenda if you are insterested in the book Barbara's sister will be handling her book at her gift shop located on Perkins Road. It's called Hannan & Company. It's worth the trip to see it. If you go be sure to tell her you know me and Barbara;. It won't help with the price but it will make me look better with her.All you other people in the Lafayette area you can purchase the book at either Acadian Religious or at Crossroads Bookstore. USA - Tuesday, July 09, 2002 at 08:18:13 (MDT)Today Patsy, Henrietta, Rosemary, June, Carleen, Jackie, Cile, and I met Rosella and her younger sister at Don's for lunch. She looked wonderful and we were all so happy to see her after 42 years. We took a lot of pictures which we'll send soon. (It's difficult to use up a whole role in order to get them developed.) Rosella brought a beautiful vase which she had made herself in a pottery class she is taking. Jackie won it in a drawing. June is out of the hospital and on the mend after a pretty bad accident. We missed all of those who couldn't be there and are anxious for the next excuse we'll have to get together. Thanks to Patsy and her committee for calling everyone.

USA - Monday, July 08, 2002 at 19:58:29 (MDT)Brenda, I think the water will be down by the time we come home. I think we only cross the Guadeloupe twice - once at Comfort and the other at Seguin---that is on I-10 East from here. The pictures we have seen today of the devestation is just absolutely horrible. We are getting our second thunderstorm of the day right now. Its time for all of this to stop. Its either feast or famine in this part of Texas when it comes to rain. I'll look for your pictures. Betty

I certainly feel for the people who are suffering because of the water. I'm relieved that you and Billy are high and dry. I sent six pictures that I took at the mini-reunion. No kidding she is now thinking it was her jaw. She has had TMJ a while back. The doctor wants her to go see a Gastro Dr. but she is convinced it is her jaw. Oh well who am I to argue. It's not happening to me. All of you have been great through this ordeal. I am thankful for all the prayers and Marshall the Masses she was remembered in. On the lighter side I agree with Gerald that we could use the rain they are having in Texas. It's been dry and HOT over here. A nice evening shower would be nice or even a down right gully washer. No word from Sue lately I think she is a little scared of the computer. Get after her girls.

Lafayette, La USA - Friday, July 05, 2002 at 16:18:45 (MDT)Hello from water logged San Antonio. I am in an area which does not flood. However, lots of people were not as lucky. The flood waters have resulted in seven deaths so far and it's still raining. Many dramatic rescues have taken place, which I watched live on TV. Water is rushing over the Medina and Canyon Lake spillways today(a first) and areas downstream from these lakes are being evacuated. The Hill Country seems to be worst hit;however, the flooding is widespread. Betty, glad to hear that your place has been spared. Rickey, I hope Barbara is ok.

We are here in Kerrville. The flooding around the Hill Country and San Antonio is just awful. We have had 20 inches of rain here at the ranch since Sunday. We are up on a hill and far away from the creek ---thank goodness.
I hope Harvey is O.K. in San Antonio.

Rickey, I was just rereading some of the old messages in the Guestbook. Where is Zia's resturant? You mentioned that you brought O.P. and Shirley there when they were in Lafayette. I want to get down to the bottom of all this. She is feeling fine. She must be because she is fixing herself up. I called Suzanne yesterday and asked her how she was doing with the computer. She told me she hadn't had time to get on it but she would. She called me back and told me she had 5 messages. After awhile she said she could see where this would become additive. I guess it will take a little time to get up enough courage to get on the web page. Thanks for all of the prayers for Barbara. She is a very special lady.

Lafayette, La USA - Monday, July 01, 2002 at 07:27:01 (MDT)Sorry to hear about Barbara. Hope she will recover. Happy to hear about Suzanne. I wonder if we could get Gayle on line. You never know. Last I heard Robert was saying she was kicking and screaming to learn this stuff.

USA - Sunday, June 30, 2002 at 11:44:55 (MDT)Suzanne, please, be a regular contributor like Doris, Betty, Henerietta, and me. I think Patsy and others read the messages, but we can't get them to say anything. The boys have many more contributors than we do and so we can use another good woman. Sorry you won't be at Don's on the 8th. Can't wait to see Rosella after 47 years.

Now you have to find your phototgraph albums and send OP some pictures. I won't be able to make the luncheon for Rosella either. We are going to Texas next Thursday. Betty

USA - Saturday, June 29, 2002 at 14:27:08 (MDT)I put Barbara back in the hospital this morning after leaving Sue's house. Maybe it was because we spent so much time in the bedroom but I'm just fattering myself. She knows my capabalities. Seriously she had the same pain in ther chest and jaw that she had had before. The ER doctor said her blood emzines were ok but they wanted to keep her overnight and observe her. Her doctor isn't taking calls this weekend so we have to see a doctor that hasn't seen her before. Right now she is feeling fine.
Hey, let's make Sue feel welcome. She really doesn't know what this web page is like. She is in for a big surprise. I know I enjoy reading all about you folks. Marshall I tried to put your address in my computer but you changed it and I see your new one on the web page. I will change it when I get half a chance. I did tell Sue about Rozella but she said she wouldn't be in town on the day she will be here. I'm sure she will tell us more about it later. Well I have to get back to the hospita. See ya.
Rickey <prkg36@aol.com>
Lafayette, La USA - Saturday, June 29, 2002 at 14:09:13 (MDT)Welcome to Suzanne!! I just got a call from Rickey again this afternoon early. He had to put Barbara back in the hospital (Laf General). She started having those chest pains again. I'll let you know what happens, or Rickey might put a note here later tonight as soon as he can.

lafayette, la USA - Saturday, June 29, 2002 at 09:33:19 (MDT)Well it's nice to be back from vacation. A lot has happened since the last time I was on the computer. It's nice to be back on my regular computer. OP couldn't stand me not being on a computer so he sent me one. Now that I won't be using it I will give it to Suzanne so she can get on with all of you girls. Her screen name is IM2Sassy13. I guess it fits. I'll let you know when I connet it up. She is talking about having another plug put into her house for the computer. About the trip it's no use to try to explain it to you on how beautiful it was. You just can't explain the beauty of Alaska. It's a trip of a lifetime. I have always wanted to go but never figured I would make it. Thanks OP. Doris how did you find Mary Elizabeth? We tried to find your son but he wasn't listed in information. It's a good thing you didn't try to find her house because she really lives in the sticks. Way back in the forest. I guess you would call it a forest. Her place is wonderful. She seems really happy. The house fits her. If we were to have a reunion at her house half of us wouldn't ever be seen again. It was nict to see her again. She lived only three doors from me while we were in school. She and Barbara hit it off great. On the way back after traveling so far I told Barbara that I must have been insane to want to do all that driving. Speaking of Barbara I just got her out of the hospital yesterday again. She was having Chest Pains and so the doctor put her in and did an angioplast. She went into spasm and treatened to shut down so all he could do was the baloon. He had planned on doing radiation on her. Anyway she is out and feeling fine. Notice my new screen name.
OP couldn't stand me not being on the web so he sent me a computer. Now that I don't need it any longer I will give it to Suzanne. Her screen name is going to be IM2Sassy13. Fits doesn't it. I will install it just as soon as I can contact her. Well I have gone on long enough so Adios for now.

USA - Wednesday, June 26, 2002 at 12:03:52 (MDT)Thanks Doris. I have been reacking my brain. I remember Jerry amd Jimmy Broussard. They were two years older than us, I think. Jerry played football and Jimmy played in a band. I don't know about O.P. do you think he can recognize himself? Let's see if he can. Ha, ha.
Gerald Reaux <ggrpsr@aol.com>
Lafayette, La USA - Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at 18:40:08 (MDT)Gerald, It is Jimmy and Jerry Broussard. I think they were a year older than we were. They went to Cathedral. They were twins, but really didn't look alike. They lived near Jeanette, Janet, Carleen and Tommy. I had a few dates with Jerry and Gayle dated Jimmy for a while, way,way back when!! I am not sure if that is O.P. or not. I wanted O.P. to respond if he remembered. To me it looks like him. Jeanette couldn't remember.
Doris
USA - Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at 07:31:00 (MDT)I really enjoyed those oldie's sent in by Doris. I can only recognize one guy, Bradley. Is that really O.P. and who is Jimmy and Jerry? Can anyone help me with my fading young memory.

USA - Saturday, June 22, 2002 at 10:46:26 (MDT)Doris, thanks for scanning Jeanette's pictures and sending them to O.P. Those are great. If my memory serves me correctly, I think the picture of Patsy, Carlenn and I was taken in New Orleans in one of the 25 cent booths. I believe we had all gone to New Orleans in a school bus for a basketball tournament and we stayed at the Montleone Hotel. Patsy and Carleen is this correct? Betty

USA - Friday, June 21, 2002 at 08:48:38 (MDT)Hi Guys, We just returned from North Carolina this afternoon. Had a wonderful trip. It was so good to see Jared again. I talked to Mary Elizabeth. Rickey she said you had just left two days before. That you all had tried to call Jared to see if I was there yet. By the way that was him listed in Drexel. We got in on Fri. afternoon. I called her Sat. evening. She was busy on Sun. and was leaving Mon. morning for Texas, so I didn't get to go to her house. We came home by way of the Smoky Mountains Park, drove on highway 441. It was beautiful. But O.P. I have got to admit not as breathtaking as your pictures of Alaska. I too couldn't get the videos. I got the audio, but not the pictures. I will try again tomorrow and also send you the pictures of the Zachary reunion. You know what I did!!! I lost two rolls of exposed film I took of Biltmore Estates and Chimney Rock. Makes me sick. I just can't find them anywhere. I'll have to have Jared go back and take more pictures for me. Thank God we all made it back home safely. I know you guys must have had a wonderful trip.

USA - Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at 21:04:25 (MDT)Settling in after a month away from San Antonio. Had a great trip to Lafayette. Gerald, thanks for including me in the golf outings-really had a great time, although my golf game, at this point in time, sucks. Just returned from a bay fishing trip off the Texas coast with my son, daughter, and son-in-law. Went out in an airboat. If you havn't experienced an airboat, I suggest you try it-exciting to say the least. We mopped up on redfish, trout, and black drum. OP your Alaskan pictures are awesome!!!! Brings back a lot of memories-was there a week after the big earthquake in the 60's. Quite a mess. Hope every one had a great Father's Day-I know I did.

USA - Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at 15:45:07 (MDT)Question: Is anyone else besides Marshall having trouble getting the videos from my Alaska trip? I would expect that those of you who are still on 56K dialup would have problems, but those of you on DSL or Cable Internet connections should be able to get them. Let me know if you are having trouble with the first one "the Whitepass Train Ride".

Woodbridge, VA USA - Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at 05:24:28 (MDT)Great pictures Betty. I wish us guys could get together like you girls do. Maybe next time O.P. gets to Lafayette. It will probably be at the golf course, however. Harvey visited for several weeks and we played golf with Donald and Carroll he went home June 10. I was expecting a comment from him when he returned. Maybe later? I just sent O.P. a digital photo with an old friend. I am sure most of you remember him. Let's keep in touch.

Lafayette, La USA - Monday, June 17, 2002 at 14:21:35 (MDT)Gerald just sent me a picture he and Pat took of Fr. Calais. You can see the picture in the Current Photo Album above. Here are Gerald's comments: Last Thursday Pat and I were having dinner with old friends and we ran into Father Calais, who was also having dinner with some of his former students from Abbeville. We asked one of them to take a picture with my Jam Cam and viola. He married us 42 years ago and is probably the most loved priest in the diocese. He is retired and had a passion for golf until he had an operation on both knees. He taught religion to Pat at Mount Carmel when he was first ordained. Please show him to the rest of the class. Thanks, Gerald.

USA - Sunday, June 16, 2002 at 16:34:36 (MDT)Betty, you really are a great photographer! I love the pictures. It's too bad that we didn't have anyone to take pictures of all ten of us at the same time. When Doris sends her pictures, we may have one or two of all of us as she has a camera with a delay whatever and tried to get us all in one picture. Cile and I took some pictures also and when I finish my roll, I will send them in. We advertised this website the whole day and maybe we got some new viewers. I hope Jeanette gets on line soon. Avis and Janet, are you reading this message? Write to us, if you are. We missed all of you who couldn't be there. Turns out that there are four artists in the class. If we lived nearer to each other, we could get together and paint. I'll work on that.

Atlantic Ocean, USA - Sunday, June 02, 2002 at 12:08:17 (MDT)O.P., I really enjoyed the travelogue to Vancouver and Seattle on your website. Washington is so different from the southern states that it would make sense for Americans to see the U.S. before they travel to other countries. It looked chilly up there. That's different also. I got a letter from Avis and she sounds so positive about her future, no matter what it is. She is a real inspiration. She cannot come to our mini-reunion and so we'll take pictures and send them to you to put on the website. By the way, I also heard from Rosella, Helina, and Del Rita among others who wrote to me. We have not laid eyes on those three in 42 years!!!

Seattle , WA USA - Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at 08:11:58 (MDT)Thanks for all the messages for Barbara. She is feeling fine but a little tired after the trip. OP and Shirley are great hosts. I would recommend all of you to make at least one trip and let them show you a good time. We went to a play last night. The play was State Fair. Back to Barbara. The doctor said they found blockage or 70-80 percent where she had a stint put in 4 years age. He said he hopes he doesn't have to go back in until the new stint comes on the market. The new ones don't clog up. He found another small one at the bottom of her heart but said he wouldn't worry about it. I think she was looking forward to the trip as much as I was. Again thanks for all the wishes and prayers.

He had just visited Stewart Meaux at a camp ground somewhere and asked me about our class. I told him about the class web site and he seemed interested in trying to set up one for his class. Harvey picked me up and met Kirk and neither one knew the other. We have all changed so much. Played golf with Harvey, Donald and Terry Veron. He was one of those Cathedral/Lafayette High students like Gene Cella, Brumby Sessions and Charlie Arceneaux. Had a great time.

His computer is in the trunk of his car ready for the trip to Virginia, so he asked me to relay news about Barbara to all of you. Barbara is still in the Hospital, but the doctor said she did not have a heart attack. It was probably just nerves...she completed her book and was packing for the trip and it all just got the best of her. They will do an angiogram tomorrow to be sure, but the cardiologist said he would buy pizza for the entire ICU staff if it was negative!

USA - Monday, May 20, 2002 at 17:19:28 (MDT)I just got a phone call from Rickey. This morning, they were just getting on their way on their trip up here and NC. So keep her in your prayers.

Larose, La USA - Saturday, May 18, 2002 at 21:12:27 (MDT)Betty, Stephen is the architect and he is the first one on the left. The other guys are our sons-in-law. Johnny decided that he would not take the t.v. job for a lot of reasons and I certainly hope, if they remain in California, that he regains his peace of mind and love of the area like he had before. The "registrations" are coming in for the mini-reunion over here. I should have included a blank for those who wish they would never hear from us again so we could stop bugging them with reunion invitations. O.P., I think it's time to change the picture.

Venice, FL - Thursday, May 16, 2002 at 18:13:53 (MDT)Gee, thanks for all of those sweet remarks about my family picture. Something unexpected has happened since the wedding. Our oldest son, pictured on the far right, works for a television station in Los Angeles. He works behind the scene as the Production/Promotion manager. Anyway, when he came for the wedding, he saw how much his children loved being with their cousins, and grandparents, and he has so many friends here, that he decided to MOVE BACK!!! He sent resumes to the local stations (without telling us) and one tv station had an opening right away. Johnny arrived two days ago to interview and they put him IN FRONT of the camera as a co-anchor person. He has never done that before, and we are too old to suffer through the nerves, etc. that goes along with seeing your child beginning in such a public way. He will be here for a week and then they will decide. Maybe some of you can relate to what we are going through. I think I'm going to have a stroke!

Venice, FL USA - Monday, May 13, 2002 at 16:50:56 (MDT)Just heard from Rosella who said that she will be coming to a family reunion this summer. (I don't know if she meant to Lafayette or Baton Rouge.) I told her that if she could spare time for a lunch one of those days, five to eight girls would meet her at Don's. Wouldn't it be wonderful to see her again after 40 years? I'd also like to wish all of the Mothers out there a very happy Mother's Day. Mother's are really something. Recently, I watched a mother bird sit absolutely still on her nest 24 hours a day for at least a week, if not longer. She was the same bird who flew away every time we opened our patio door while she was building her nest. Motherhood really does do miraculous things.

USA - Thursday, May 09, 2002 at 12:52:06 (MDT)Doris sorry I didn't respond earlier. I was waiting for the picture to be posted! I looked everywhere except the "current photo" file. I found it when I was looking at Brenda's pictures of the wedding and spotted it. I must admit the little fellow does have personality...in fact he looks like his grandma! Beautiful wedding pics Brenda.
Marshall <larr1710@comcast.net>
Venice, FL USA - Tuesday, May 07, 2002 at 10:41:24 (MDT)O.P., that was quick! Elizabeth's husband's name is Danny Winchester and he's from Alexandria, LA. The reason I sent two pictures of the grandchildren is because one is the Before the Reception picture and the other is After. The little flower girl, Grace, is in her slip, as her dress was unrecognizable at that point. Our oldest granddaughter, Lauren, is not in the pictures as she was a Jr. Bridesmaid and was not in these pictures(unfortunately). We are now recovered from the wedding and I am looking forward to a mini-reunion of the Mt. Carmel Class of '55, on June 8, over here. Doris, I finally located your newest grandson's picture. He's a fine baby. And, as usual, thanks O.P.!!!!
Brenda <jatkin19321@cox.net>
USA - Tuesday, May 07, 2002 at 08:39:52 (MDT)Ok, Brenda sent in some new pictures of her youngest daughter's wedding. One is in the Current photos above, and the others are on Brenda's Family Gallery page. Enjoy :)

Woodbridge, VA USA - Monday, May 06, 2002 at 09:26:48 (MDT)Doris you are probably right about your fiberglass pool never having to be re-
fiberglassed. I bought an old house...built in '78! Gelkote (not sure of spelling)the final "shiney" finish to fiberglass had not yet been invented. So the coloration would wear off exposing the raw fiberglass...which is basically brown. There is no structural damage, only cosmetic. When this happened they would paint over it. The paint would last maybe 5 years with all the chemicals in a pool. So with the old pools, they re-fiberglass and then Gelkote it... and that finish lasts for life. They are even doing this to cement pools here in FL. Smoother surface, lifetime and easier to clean.
Marshall <larr1710@comcast.net>
Venice, FL USA - Monday, May 06, 2002 at 04:55:26 (MDT)Marshall, tell me about your pool. I didn't know you had to have a fiberglass pool re-fiberglassed. We have one and they told us that it was guaranteed for life. We have been having it since 1986 and haven't had any trouble. What happened to yours?
Doris
USA - Sunday, May 05, 2002 at 17:59:06 (MDT)My apologies! We single people live a very selfish life...we can always have things our way, and not only that, but the way we want them! Also I am having my pool re-fiberglassed, so I have all this time on my hands watching these guys work. "I" could have done it in half the time! Ha! So to keep my controlling self out of their way, I bought five new books to keep me busy...when I get tired reading... I come check out the computer. I usually don't have this much time to bug you O.P. Take courage you guys with kids and grandkids, your place in heaven will be MUCH higher than us selfish bachlors!

Venice, FL USA - Sunday, May 05, 2002 at 09:50:25 (MDT)Ok, Marshall, yes you were ahead of me. We have our three older grandchildren spending the weekend here at the condo. I have had competition for the computer room with them sleeping in it. Also, we have to shuffle the chairs around because they are always on Shirley's computer playing games. Doris, Matt looks like he will make a good Hockey Goalie!!, ooops, a cute goalie that is.
O. P. Ditch <op@opditch.com>
Woodbridge, VA USA - Sunday, May 05, 2002 at 07:05:55 (MDT)I am afraid we are ahead of O.P. I am sorry I meant to say WHEN you see the picture of my new grandson you will not say he looks like a wet rat. I really had just sent the picture to O.P. We didn't give him a chance to put the picture on the website.
Doris
USA - Sunday, May 05, 2002 at 06:45:50 (MDT)I think we've set a milestone on our web site Doris! For the first time, we are ahead of O.P.or am I too computer illerate to find the pictures of your new grandson?

Doris
USA - Saturday, May 04, 2002 at 17:53:38 (MDT)Thanks, Marshall, for the prayers of Thanksgiving. We have a lot to be thankful for. Nine beautiful, healthy grandchildren!!! I just sent O.P. the picture of our new Provost addition. By the way, Patsy just sent me an e-mail saying that Janet is married. She is now Mrs. Tom Whiteside. I am happy for her.
Doris
USA - Saturday, May 04, 2002 at 15:38:34 (MDT)Congrads Doris. Waiting for pictures. I got in trouble with a mother when I was first ordained by saying that "all new born babies look like wet rats!" So I've learned to say: "I stopped by the nursery on my way to visit you, and I must admit that he/she is the cutest new born I have ever seen!" Called Politically Correct! It sounds like your new grandson is extremely healthy, and Mom is doing well! That's what's important. Promised prayers of Thanksgiving.

Lafayette, LA USA - Thursday, May 02, 2002 at 16:27:41 (MDT)Rickey, thank you for sending me that address. I am having trouble replying to your letter. It keeps coming back saying I have the wrong address even when I'm using your letter to reply. Anyway, thank you. O.P., I didn't realize that you all lived in the area of the terrible storms. I'm so sorry that your area got that bad weather. Those poor people who lost their lives!
Brenda
USA - Tuesday, April 30, 2002 at 07:24:45 (MDT)Doris, thanks for thinking about us. The storm passed right over us, but we were lucky and only had heavy rain, wind and a little small hail. I think after it passed over our area, it crossed over the warm Potomac River and picked up strength. That is why the tornado touched down just across the river in La Plata, MD. We were very fortunate. It really damaged a catholic church and school in La Plata. I made Shirley get under the Dinning room table while I was the lookout. Of course all the time she was yelling at me to get under the table too. But it never got bad enough, thank the Lord.

USA - Sunday, April 28, 2002 at 11:12:42 (MDT)I was so sorry to have to miss the luncheon and miss seeing Avis and Sharon. Actualy, I missed seeing the two Jackies, Maugie, and Minette. (I had seen the others recently.) Seeing the pictures on the webpage is a pretty good substitute. Thanks for all of your hard work, Betty. Taking the pictures, scanning them and sending them are all a pretty good deal of work. Thanks also to O.P. that we have this way of staying close to our old friends. There's nothing like old friends, who aren't actually that old!

I just put a map in the Current Photo Gallery that shows Morganton very close to Marion where Mary Elizabeth Lives. They are in the west near Asheville and Charlotte. Woodbridge, VA USA - Saturday, April 27, 2002 at 08:08:29 (MDT)Doris maybe on your way up or coming back you could stop and see Mary Elizabeth in Marion Ga. That is around Ashville N.C. Barbara and I are on our way to OP's at the end of May and will stop there for a short while. It will be nice seeing her. She lived just three doors down from my house on Johnston St. I haven't seen her since graduation. I spoke to her and she said she would get on the computer but hasn't yet. Sure wish I could see Avis today. Maybe Barbara and I will drop in to say hello to her. I hope ya'll won't mind. Guess she is feeling better if she can travel. Doris you will love the country going to N.C. It's beautiful.

lafayete, la USA - Saturday, April 27, 2002 at 06:51:45 (MDT)True and False Pat! O.P. does ask the question: "Where's Pat" along with the pictures of your trip! But I seriously think many in the class agree with him it would HELP Gerald's image to have you next to him! Ha! I know how you feel about pictures...remember I have five sisters! When we were younger and tried to take family photos, the film would be out dated waiting for all of them to "make themselves presentable" for the picture.

Venice, FL USA - Saturday, April 27, 2002 at 06:46:21 (MDT)O.P. Where in N.C. is your son living? Our youngest, the one who just fininshed college in Nov. has been working in Fayetteville with a company who does contract forestry for the Government. He just took a job with the State of N.C. as a Forester. He will be living in Morganton. We are excited for him. I know it is far away from us, but all of our other children are spread out except for the 2 in The Woodlands. We are going in June to bring his furniture and junk he accumilated during college and dumped on us when he finished school. We have never been in that part of the country and are excited to go.

First I must tell you I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to take pictures of everyone else, hate to have pictures of myself. I think it is just a "woman" thing - maybe we don't like to see how we really look, not sure. If OP put you up to this, no more "rolo's" for him, ha. Pat

There is a small meat market, Bernhards, in Ingram, Texas---that is between Kerrville and Hunt---who smoke delicious turkeys and they mail them out if you ever want to order one---they make delicious jerkey also.
Avis called Carleen Thursday night---she is coming to Lafayette and we are all going to meet at Don's Seafood Hut on Johnston tomorrow for lunch. I will take my camera and take some pictures. Betty

Venice, FL USA - Friday, April 26, 2002 at 08:22:38 (MDT)I had occaision to call Avis yesterday and spoke to her. She said her first atwo chemo's didn't shrink the cancer. She will have another one I think she said that she was going to have it on the 29th. I told her we would all keep her in our prayers. She sounded a little low, which is understanndable. I did speak to Mary Elizabeth this morning and told her about the web page and she said she would check it out at her son's house this evening. I told her to get her computer and get on the stick. Betty, the ranch sounds like a little bit of heaven. I know you and Billy enyoy it.

I love the beach, but we don't get to Fla. much anymore (since I've been so sick)------plus Billy really doesn't like the beach. Elizabeth and I used to go a lot, but since she moved to Philadelphia that changed things!!!! Have fun at the festival.

USA - Wednesday, April 24, 2002 at 12:51:02 (MDT)We sure have an interesting array of messages lately. Gloria, thanks for contributing. Tell Darrell to contact me when he comes to Lafayette and we can play some dominos with Donald. Harvey we will definitely play golf. We have grown to a fivesome, so we will have to play wolf. Betty the description of your place sounds like it came straight out of a travel guide, very beautiful. We just returned from a three day vacation at Perdido Bay in Gulf Shores Ala. The weather was perfect, not too hot and not too cold. We also missed the spring breakers, that was a relief. We did however visit the Flora Bama bar and witnessed three sky divers that landed right on the beach behind the facility. In case anyone is interested this weekend is festivals International in Lafayette. The web page is www.festivalinternational.com. We can't wait.

Venice, FL USA - Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at 20:37:19 (MDT)HARVEY, yes the Hill Country is great. We love it there and try to get to Kerrville at least once a month. Our place is Northwest of Kerrville on the road to Harper, Texas. I guess its about 10+ miles from town. Kerrville is growing so much they actually have traffic jams in town now. We had a place closer in, but subdivisions popped up all around so Billy sold it and wanted to move further out. Its very peaceful out there. We have friends who have condos on those lakes and that is also very beautiful and peaceful. Do you still go to the lake area? A friend just bought a condo at Horseshoe Bay ---have you ever played golf at Horseshoe Bay? Billy loves the courses there - Apple Rock, Slick Rock and Ramrock. He said Ramrock is one of the prettiest courses he's played. All you golfers should give it a try!!!!
MARSHALL, Hunt is West of Kerrville and we are Northwest of the town ---so its not too far away at all. We have friends who live in Hunt and Billy's brother, Rodney and his wife, live just past Hunt on the Guadaloupe River. That is one really pretty body of water with all the huge cypress trees on the banks. How could you shoot those poor little deer. We have so many deer they practically sit on the porch. We have less now because Billy has removed most of the cedar trees and they don't have as much cover. I have feeders all around so I do a lot of deer watching. Its amazing to watch their pecking order!!! We are surrounded by 2 huge ranches so we have lots of wildlife roaming around.

Venice, FL USA - Monday, April 22, 2002 at 21:33:49 (MDT)Betty, looks like a great place in Kerrville. How far out of town is your place? I used to visit Kerrville quite often when I was in the insurance business. I love the Hill Country. Had a townhome on Lake LBJ near Kingsland/Marble Falls. Would go up there every weekend. It was like being on continual vacation. There was always something to do, you were never bored. Nice golf courses around Kerrville. Doris, I really enjoyed your paintings-you're good, and you are absolutely correct about OP. OP, we thank you. Not many people would spend the time and effort needed to create such a creative site. Gerald,I will visiting Lafayette MAY 13 thru June 10. Looking forward to my visit and a lot of golf. Carroll, when are you planning to head north? I would like to spend more time but have an off shore fishing set up in June.

I'm sure she won't mind me telling everyone. AND ANOTHER BIT OF "BABY NEWS" ---I am finally going to a grandmother---Elizabeth is pregnant and the baby is due November 27. Stella, NC USA - Monday, April 22, 2002 at 07:11:13 (MDT)Betty all this happened on Friday morning. That is the morning I was in a wreck and it took the police about 45 minutes to get to the accident. The accident was on South College at about noon and the traffic was backed up and the cars were going by in one lane and I thought there would be another wreck because people wouldn't let anyone get in line. Anyway no one was hurt and everything was cleared up and we fnally got home.

Lafayette, La USA - Sunday, April 21, 2002 at 08:19:23 (MDT)Betty, the wedding was yesterday and today, I am exhausted. I did not go to sleep last night, nor the night before, so today, I feel like a walking zombie. It's 8 a.m. and I had to bring one group to the airport for 7. Anyway, we had a great time with all of the children and grandchildren here for a WEEK! Everyone, all 18 of us, had a part in the wedding. The couple looked like two dolls and the wedding was just what she wanted. Actually, the priest who married them never had them say their vows. I don't know if he forgot or that's the way he does things. He just said, "I, Elizabeth, take you, Danny, to be my..." and repeated it for the groom. They never had a chance to say anything. He is a Jesuit cousin of ours and I don't think he does many weddings. He may have gotten nervous or something. Marshall, Father Dugas was also there and looked terrible. I didn't get a chance to speak to him as he left after the Mass. Anyway, our house is loaded with presents and flowers all over the place. I just wish you could enjoy everything as it is happening instead of everyone being under so much stress and being so busy. Now, if Patsy will send me the names and addresses of our classmates, I'll have to get busy on our day at the Zachary House on June 8.

USA - Saturday, April 20, 2002 at 19:27:16 (MDT)Hey gang. The picture OP showed of his dessert was MUCH bigger than it looked. I ordered some bread pudding and took over half of it home because I had had enough. Shirley asked OP if he was going to eat it all and he said"yep". He is like me because I love sweets also. I can't wait to see what he eats on the cruise. I'm sure by now everyone has heard about the big goings on in Lafayette. Someone wrote to the police and told them there were 25 bombs planted in and around Lafayette set to go off on the 25th of May. There was also some letters sent with the message that the positions of the bombs was hidden in books at the Public Library and Barns and Noble and in the other bookstores in Lafayette. We will just have to wait and see. Hope all of you are fine.

Breaux bridge, la USA - Thursday, April 18, 2002 at 09:05:33 (MDT)Linden, I am the webmaster for this web site. I used to have a web site design business, so it was real easy for me to do this. In your case, the best solution is to find a classmate that is working in the web business and he/she should be able to do it easily also. The next best solution is not an easy one and that is trying to learn how to do all this web stuff yourself. It is not something I can explain in email, or over the phone. If you have never created a web site yourself, but are fairly "web savy" you might be able to go to MNS.com and go to "Communities" and try to set up a "Community" web site and discussion group which also has email and web mixed into it. I hope these suggestions are helpful.

Erath, LA USA - Wednesday, April 17, 2002 at 07:52:29 (MDT)Gerald, It was O.P.'s mother who was a wonderful seamstress. My mother sewed, but just for me. Thanks for the compliments on the paintings. I too love "Brandon and Kara". I have done quite a few of the grandchildren, but like a fool I gave them to their parents without making prints. Pennye's children came out especially good. It is so much fun painting them. Of course these are not for sale but for the mere pleasure of painting my grandchildren. I forgot if I mentioned it, but I am retiring from teaching in May. So now I can paint whenever, in fact I plan on taking two classes starting in the fall. It is so much fun.

USA - Tuesday, April 16, 2002 at 16:45:07 (MDT)I am the niece of the late John Lawrence Fabacher, Jr. My uncle died in the early 1980s, leaving behind a daughter named Jennifer, then aged 13. Jennifer has never lived in Louisiana and has lost touch with our family over the years. Quite accidentally, I found my aunt's website on the internet while doing some reseach on my ancestry.
My uncle graduated from Cathedral Carmel in 1948. Jennifer would like to obtain a copy of any yearbooks during the years in which her father attended CC. She has a "John Wall of Fame" hall in her home and she is missing photos of her father during his early years.
I know this site is for classmates of 1955 but I thought maybe someone would know someone who attended CC during the years 1944 thru 1948. Any assistance you can give us would be appreciated.

Lafayette, LA USA - Tuesday, April 16, 2002 at 16:12:29 (MDT)Nice water colors Doris. Our favorite is Kara Brandon, however Pat personally likes Evening Shadows and I like Morning Has Broken. The Grandmas House struck my memory. I can remember your mother as a seamstrist and I believe O.P.'s mother was one two. Could you two get back to me on this, it's buging me.

Lafayette, La. USA - Tuesday, April 16, 2002 at 05:36:04 (MDT)Thanks Doris and O.P. for the extra picutres. I like "Dry Docked" the best of all...but I think you can be proud of them all Doris. Last week I had a picutre framed at this new Gallery. They have a machine which "mats" a picture etc and makes it look like it is an oil done on canvas! Really neat process.

I emailed Rickey their phone number. Also, I just put some more of Doris' paintings in her Gallery page at the link at the top of this page. She now has 15 paintings on the page. Just click on the first one then use the right arrow to page through each of them one at a time. :)

Venice, FL USA - Saturday, April 13, 2002 at 11:07:33 (MDT)Boy, what a respose. Mary Elizabeth is flying IN a plane. She said she really loves it and she intends to get on the website just as soon as she can get her computer over to North Carolina. She is still single. I didn't ask her if she was dating but I did ask her if she was still single. She seems to be having too much fun to get married. Doris she lives in Marion N.C. That's around Ashville in the western part of the state. Barbara and I plan on stopping when we go to OP and Shirley's in late May. Avis said she still hasn't gotten on the computer but will later. Like I said she sounded real good. I guess she has her plate full for now. I can't wait to see Mary Elizabeth. She lived right down the street from me. It was she and Dale Gaudet and myself that lived in the neighobrhood. It's great to have Carleen on the website. You go girl. Doris her husband did die. I spoke to Suzanne and told her that OP is going to give her this computer when I can get back on my old one. I can't use it because Barbara is afraid we will pick up a virus and ruin her book. It shouldn't be long. Barbara saw Sue yesterday and she was all excited about the new computer. Now it will be up to you girls to teach her how to use it.

Lafayette, La USA - Saturday, April 13, 2002 at 05:07:22 (MDT)That's alright Carleen, we can thank all of our parents too, or we wouldn't be here enjoying each others companionship. Hope you are having fun in Tex. I agree with Brenda, O.P. you certainly have done something wonderful for us. I am sure I speak for all of us who keep up with the website, that it is the most wonderful thing that has happened to us. Marshall, about the art show. I wasn't the featured artist, so I could only put a certain number in the show. No I have a lot more paintings. The girls saw them over here at my house when they came. I still have more than that, but I have sold some and some are so bad they are under the BED!!! Rickey where in North Carolina is Mary Elizabeth? I have a son in Fayetteville. Is she married or single? I thought her husband had died, am I right? Come on now Rickey you have to let us know ALL the details.

Who would have thought that Mary Elizabeth would be flying planes. Did I understand that she is a pilot? I wonder if Avis reads the messages in this site. Do you know? USA - Thursday, April 11, 2002 at 15:27:14 (MDT)Hi ya'll. Just spoke to Mary Elizabeth Lemmon by phone. I have been thinking about her for a long time and looked up her number and called her. She is now at her "beach house" in North Carolina. She told me how beautiful it is up there. It's on a lake and the front of the house faces the Blue Ridge Moutains. He house is also on a lake and she said she has a 22 foot pntoon boat. She said we should have our 50th reunion there. She sounds great. She said she spends her time flying in WW11 airplanes. She is a member of the Comenrative Air Force. She said she got active while living in Midland Tx. I am also a member so we had a lot to talk about. She promised to get on the web site. I just spoke to Avis and she seems to be in very good spirits. She said she just got finished with her second round of chemo and is scheduled for test after. She said to thank everybody for all their prayers and notes.

Lafayette, LA USA - Thursday, April 11, 2002 at 14:36:40 (MDT)We really had a great time Tuesday. Doris' paintings were worth the trip to Lake Charles and the art show was very impressive. Isn't it something that the next day we can see pictures taken of the trip? Modern technology is something! We are now thinking of getting the class mates together in June at the Zachary House. If any of you Mt. Carmel girls are reading this, spread the word. You'll be getting information about the day around the first week in May. Anyway, thanks to Betty, we were able to get together this week and are now enjoying the pictures.
Brenda <Jatkin19321@cox.net>
USA - Thursday, April 11, 2002 at 07:35:10 (MDT)Doris had you already sold 6 of your paintings when the art exhibit picture was taken, or did you have other water colors on other boards? You had 11 on Our Site and only 5 at the art exhibit. Thanks for taking the pictures Betty. It's amazing how many of you made it all the way to Lake Charles for the showing. I wonder if that kind of bonding still exists among classmates in this day and age? Thanks O.P. for posting them so quickly.

I notice you got a new toy too O.P.! Printed names on each of the 'characters'. Looking forward to seeing more pictures of Doris's art exhibit. Tell Barbara to send me an autographed copy of her book Rickey and I'll send her the payment! I never pass up an opportunity to say: "The checks in the mail!" Also Darrell, if you are reading this, give Ray Domengeaux a call...225-272-7472 or cell 603-5467. When he saw your picture on The Site he said that he keeps forgetting to call you...so he probably still has forgotten to call. I think you guys even live close to each other in Baton Rouge.

Venice, FL USA - Wednesday, April 10, 2002 at 06:43:58 (MDT)Hi Gang. Boy it was nice to have OP here for so long. I did get to spend quiet a lot of time with him. I showed he and Shirley what good food waslike. On Sunday I brought he and Shirley to Zea/s for lunch. They said it was the best meal they had the whole time they were here. If OP dares he will put the picture of the dessert he got after his meal and the plate of what was left after he ate. I couldn't even eat all of mine. I don't know if ya'll are aware but OP and I have known each other since we were 3 years old, at least cthat's what his mother said, and with her memory I wouldn't doubt it. We have had a long and lasting friendship all of our lives.
For all of you that are insterested Barbara is putting the finishing touches on her new book. It looks like better than 250 pages with 50 plus pictures. I am looking forward to it coming out so we can be finished with it. It is really pulling her down. She is very tired at night.
Marshall I do enjoy all of your comments.

USA - Tuesday, April 09, 2002 at 06:52:01 (MDT)Well, we spent the night last night in Mobile, AL. We had a lot of rain coming out of LA, but it stopped in Mississippi. The front went through here during the night. I forgot to mention that we also bought one of Doris's paintings of 9-11 and her Daughter brought it to us in Lafayette. I can't wait to hang it up in my computer room at home. Hello Darrell!!!! OR, is it just Gloria reading the mail??? Maybe we should hear from Gloria, and tell us what Darrell is doing?

Mobile, AL USA - Tuesday, April 09, 2002 at 04:08:18 (MDT)Well, we will be on our way back to Virginia this morning. We had a good visit to Lafayette. Got a good sitter for my brother Roland, thanks to Pat & Gerald for the recommendation. I got to play golf with Gerald and Donald, I also saw Darrell. Come on Darrell, let the others know you are reading this by leaving a note once in a while!! We had some good Lunches with Rickey & Barbara, and they took me around to take picture s of the pelicans. Shirley got to see her sick brother, Dr. LeBlanc, and he took us to see the Bird Santuary at Lake Martin. We even went to Abbeville to have lunch with Shirley's brother a couple of times. So we got to do a lot of things even though we spent a lot of time with my brother Roland. He is getting better each day, but it will be a long recovery. We have to fight the rain today and go around the closed I-10, but we will take our time and stop when we get tired. Talk to you all along the way.

Lafayette, LA USA - Monday, April 08, 2002 at 07:54:59 (MDT)Gerald, I can't say that I have ever heard of Father Alfred Pampalon! My favorite for the recovery programs is Francis Thompson and his "Hound of Heaven." If you've never read it, do yourself a favor. Be sure you get the commentary on it too. No he is not a "declared" saint of the Church, but that's mistake not his!

Venice, FL USA - Sunday, April 07, 2002 at 11:45:54 (MDT)It's so nice to read different comments daily on our web page. I want to wish everyone a happy Divine Mercy Sunday. Don't know much about it except that if you go to confession and receive communion without sin today all of your past sins will be forgiven. Boy do I need that! I must say that Father "Manny" Fernandez must be a very holy man to be able to instill the Holy Spirit into so many people. I cried like a baby and fell back just like everyone else. While we were there I read an article about Venerable Father Alfred Pampalon, known for his favored intercession, and adopted as the patron of drug addicts and alcoholics. Marshall probably is aware of him but I was not.

Lafayette, La. USA - Sunday, April 07, 2002 at 08:47:28 (MDT)BRENDA, Sr. Dulce said a prayer and just rubbed her hands up and down my leg and foot. It was amazing because the first time I went I could hardly go up and down the steps and by the end of our time together there was a marked improvement - I could go up the steps with more ease. I really thought I'd had a stroke or something because I could hardly lift my left leg.
Betty
USA - Saturday, April 06, 2002 at 20:15:24 (MST)Betty, I have heard about Sr. Dulce. John knows more about her than I do as he works in the Soup Kitchen on Mondays where she goes to church. We don't really know anything about her healing ministry. What did she do to improve your walking? My "blue" dog is the one I told you about. He is recovering from his heartworm treatments after nearly dying twice. He's a great dog and very sweet. O.P., happy to hear of your brother's improvment. Are you and Shirley still in Lafayette? Darryl, if you are reading these letters, I wish you'd just write: "Hello." It's great to know that you are a reader also. Betty, I haven't had a chance to find out about Sr. Juliana yet. Maybe I'll know by Tuesday. Avis, if you are reading these messages, please drop us a note. No one writes like you do and all of us would LOVE to hear from you.
Brenda <jatkin19321@cox.net>
USA - Saturday, April 06, 2002 at 19:54:49 (MST)There is also a healing nun in Baton Rouge.---Sr. Dulce. I can't remember the name of the church where she has her little office and chapel set up. I went to her twice right after my last hospital stay because I could hardly lift my left leg. After 2 visits with her - two weeks in a row ---I was walking just fine. Brenda, have you ever heard of Sr. Dulce (spanish for sweet)---its the Catholic church sort of in the back of the Methodist church downtown toward I-10. BRENDA, do you have another dog??? Where did this one come from? Marshall is right---it could have happened on the morning of the wedding when Eliz. was in her dress -----I shudder at the thought. I had to do some minor repair on my dress the night of my Eliz's wedding and it almost did me in!!!!!!!!! Did it get on your carpet? I'll see you Tuesday morning here at my house around 8:30 a.m.

USA - Saturday, April 06, 2002 at 13:13:24 (MST)This is the first time I have to write down things to respond to on the site! Yes Betty Ray and Jane (I had called her June in my first message; but that's Roy Domengeaux's wife) did arrive here 5 hours later than expected. However that was good because it "forced" them to spend the night! Ray and I talked tell 1 a.m. We had not seen each other in over 20 years I'm sure. They left this afternoon at about 12:30 p.m.
Thanks for the address to check e.mail remotely O.P. I didn't try it yet but will. I have not been away from my computer since comcast too over. I went to a Charismatic Retreat for just priests once O.P. My neck still hurts..after 30 years...from them laying on of hands and trying to get me to speak in tongues! That is definately NOT my Gift! Neither have I ever been "slain" in the Spirit, as you describe as "falling on the floor!" I guess I just don't have enough Faith...give me time, I'm getting there.
Worse yet Brenda, the dog could have gotten tangled up on the wedding dress! What a mess that would have been!
By the way neither Ray nor Jane are interested in computers...don't even want one in their house! I planted the seed by showing them all of the Family Photos but some one else will have to fertilize them!!!

Venice, FL USA - Saturday, April 06, 2002 at 11:11:39 (MST)Hey Guys, I just wanted to tell you I talked to Avis the other night. She said that she is feeling as well as can be expected, in fact sometimes even better than she expected. She has been taking chemo this week and so far no ill affects. But she said that they tell her usually it is a week or so after chemo when she will start to really feel bad. She said she was a lector in church last Sun. She is living alone and just has friends drive her to the Dr. and back for her treatments. Otherwise she is going about her usual life so far. We just have to keep praying. O.P. I have heard so much about Fr. Manning, one day I would love to see him. Both my daughter, Pam, and my daughter-in-law, Roxanne have been to see him and they tell me what an experience it is. I know Pam's spiritual life has definitely changed for the better. You know I believe that if we can be healed spiritually and mentally that physical healing will come. Also if we can gratuitously accept the will of God we can overcome anything. Accepting God's will is just so hard sometimes.
Doris
USA - Saturday, April 06, 2002 at 11:06:40 (MST)Lots of activity here. Now if we could just see a note from Darrell Girouard in this guestbook. I know he reads it, but he needs to learn how to type too. Betty, my brother is doing a little better each day. He is getting a better attitude and seems to be seeing slightly better. We took him to the priest that does spiritual healing in Berwick. Fr. Manny was quite an experience. We all got up on the alter and received the Holy Sprit. When I was laying on my back, I could see this light shining through my closed eyes, it was like I was seeing the "Light of the World", the Holy Spirit. Really something. My brother said later, after a long drawn out discussion about what he felt, that he actually saw Shirley "appear" to him and tell him that he was going to see a miracale. Shirley is the one who set the trip up from a suggestion by her neice. Gerald & Pat Reaux were there too. Pat almost fell back even before Fr. Manny came to her. Oh, before I forget, Marshall, you can use http://mail2web.com to check your email when you are away. All you need to know is your email address and your password.

Lafayette, LA USA - Saturday, April 06, 2002 at 09:06:00 (MST)I am now the proud owner of a authentic Blue Dog. No, not one of the paintings from the famous Louisiana artist, but a genuine blue dog. My new big English Spaniel, who is white (I mean blue) with brown spots and freckles, is now blue because he chewed up a pen and now has a blue face and legs and is blue wherever he licked himself. It was an EraseMate pen and I would have done better trying to rub it off him. Instead, I put him in the bathtub and managed to give him a blue sheen all over. Anyway, that's what's keeping me busy with two weeks to go before our daughter, Elizabeth's, wedding. Come to think of it, it could really have been worse if he happened to chew it up on her wedding day!

USA - Saturday, April 06, 2002 at 07:49:20 (MST)Marshall, those nuns could come up with some cruel and unusual punishments!!!!!That had to be humiliating for a young person ---could you carry a tune? ---I never could so I know I would have been devestated if I had to do something like that. Plus when I was young I was so shy that would have added to the stress. What had you done? I was always very obedient so I didn't get punished often!!!!! Did Ray and his wife ever arrive? Seems like you have a "party" house---sounds like fun. I let people smoke in my house also - not that many of them do anymore. I have been to some homes where people have actually asked smokers to either put it out or go outside ---first time that happened was about 10 years ago and I absolutely couldn't believe they would do that to a guest in their home. The "guest" never accepted another invitation from them!!!!! We all know smoking is bad for you, but it was enjoyable. Carleen and I were talking about that very subject just the other day. We are all looking forward to our trip to visit Doris and go to the Art Exhibit where her work will be exhibited. We do that next Tuesday. O.P. I'll take some pictures. I'm glad you took the picture of Darryl's mother. I didn't know that either. How is your brother doing? Betty

USA - Saturday, April 06, 2002 at 07:05:59 (MST)Beautiful family Donald. Thanks for the pictures. Got a call from Ray Domeangeaux on his Cell phone from his car about 1:30 p.m. They were in a traffic jam on Hwy 1 North of Key Largo! They were in traffic jams all the way from LA to St. Pete on their trip from LA at the beginning of the week. I'll have dinner ready for them when they arrive tonight...whatever time! I have a strange feeling this will be their last trip to FL in a l-o-o-n-n-g time! I could feel his frustration over the phone. I'll try to cheer them up with boiled shrimp and black angus rib eyes! They are still smokers! My house is a "smoker's house" by the way...just in case your addiction is keeping you away! I also have a full Bar! Even though I work WITH alcoholics and drug addicts...I don't impose the ban on good normal folks like yourselves! And I wouldn't DARE try to get them to stop smoking! Lost a good friend last week from Lung cancer. Only three weeks from diagnosis till death! So if any of you out there are still smoking...you might want to try stopping! If I could do it, anybody can!

Well, I just put some pictures on line of our great golf match yesterday here in Lafayette. They are linked from the front page. Gerald really taught me some things and we were victorious, but only by one stroke. Darrell said he read that I was in Lafayette from the web site, so he called me and came to meet us at the golf course after we played. Lafayette , LA USA - Friday, April 05, 2002 at 05:54:08 (MST)Betty when you were talking about the sisters "making" someone go to the Black Board, for some unknown reason it reminded me of "a" punishment I got once when I was in the First or Second Grade. We didn't go to Cathedral till the 3rd grade in those days. I had to sing "over the radio" in front of the Senior Girls class! I think it was in Sr. Bonaventure's class. I remember we were scared to death of her! The "micro phone" was a portion of a "tin can" attached to a broom stick for a stand! Does anyone else remember this kind of punishment or am I having a senior moment? By the way, Ray and June Domengeaux are coming by tomorrow for dinner! I'll try to get them interested in THE SITE! I don't think I have seen them online to date!

Venicd, FL USA - Thursday, April 04, 2002 at 19:35:39 (MST)Doris, I just assume she died because under this "In Memory Of" section, I see Andy Acord's name with the masses I had ordered for her at the time of her death. Brenda, would you check with your friend, her niece? Don't you think she was probably in her early 30s when she taught us or do you all think she was younger. That was 50 years ago so she could have been in her 80s. I remember her pretty blue eyes and the time she and Jackie Richardson went head to head and Jackie had on those boots and she sauntered up to the blackboard when Sr. Juliana "ordered" her to get up there. Do yall remember that?
Betty <esunday1208@aol.com>
USA - Thursday, April 04, 2002 at 18:23:21 (MST)Betty, our two son's were born there one in early 61 and the other later 62. The Red Tide incident was not reported due to a request from the Fort Walden tourest people. It was great duty. Brenda, I remember now we would call the Bluerunner spouse "Dynamo" for she could type at a very rapid rate. O.P. and I concluded our golf match today 1 up. Donald gave him some family pictures that he will share with us shortly.

USA - Thursday, April 04, 2002 at 16:51:17 (MST)Gerald, it was interesting to read how they handled the Red Tide in 1962 ---DON'T TALK----I was in
Fort Walton, Fla. in the late spring of 1962 (I remember because it was right before we moved to Rochester, Minn.) and I don't remember reading about the Red Tide or seeing it while there---perhaps it happened later in that year. What nice duty that was ---how long were you stationed there?
This is for the Mt. Carmel gals --- I just got my Cong. of OLOMt.Carmel newsletter---and under the "In Memory of" section they list Sr. Juliana Danos, O.Carm.----Isn't this Sr. Juliana who taught us Algebra in the 9th grade? Brenda, did you know Sr. Juliana's last name. Betty
Betty <esunday1208@aol.com>
USA - Thursday, April 04, 2002 at 13:45:53 (MST)Gerald, Mark Meaux's wife's name was "Donna," not "Diane." He is the leader of the Bluerunners. They have two CD's out, but I don't know the names of the CD's.

USA - Wednesday, April 03, 2002 at 18:09:10 (MST)Wow! I love all this activity. Let me start with Marshall/Betty. In 1962 Pat and I were stationed at Eglin AFB. I was the Sanitary and Industerial Hygene Engineer for the base. They sent me to field #9 (Hulbert Field) to investigate a fish kill on the beach near where they had Bomark Missel Sites. I was so young and really did not know what caused the fish kill, so we obtained air samples and determined that the air was slightly acid and the waters were very red. Needless to say I had to cram read until I found something about Red Tide and sure enough that's what it was. The tourist commission in Fort Walden asked us to keep the findings confidential and so we did. It was thought by them that it was a spill of some kind from the Bomark testing they were wrong. Brenda, when I worked for the Lafayette Utilities System we had a secretary named Diane Meaux. She was married to one of the musicians playing for the Bluerunners I think he still does. What a small world. O.P. and I will be playing Golf with Donald Deshotels and Doug Ashy tomorrow morning. First time he has had a chance to play since he has been here. What a good brother.

Lafayette, La. USA - Wednesday, April 03, 2002 at 09:29:07 (MST)O.P., thanks for the photo gallery. I can't believe that there were so many painted pelicans in Lafayette. Who is responsible for that exhibit? Lafayette has really interesting events which we read about over here in Baton Rouge. I am married to the original party-pooper who doesn't like to go to festivals, etc., so I don't go to many of them, I enjoyed seeing your slides. By the way, have any of you heard of a Lafayette group called, "The Bluerunners"? Two of my nephews are in that band and they are up for some music award. They come to Baton Rouge occasionally, but they don't begin playing until around 10 p.m., way past the time we would be out. Hope all of you are enjoying the beauty of Spring.

USA - Wednesday, April 03, 2002 at 07:29:22 (MST)Good morning Betty! Yep I was refering to teenagers in my comments about teaching. They want to be SO UNIQUE that they all dress alike and act alike! Ha! Thanks for your concern about our beaches. The Black Water is down by the FL Keys. It's and 8 hour drive from here to Key West, the furthest Key South, so that will give you some idea about how far South that is from me. We do get the Red Tide (both the Black Tide and Red Tide is algae) off our coasts. In the water it kills lots of fish by extracting Oxygen from the water. The beaches are lined with dead fish (which they clean up almost every morning), and you have trouble breathing and your eyes burn. Other than these small inconveniences, it is not harmful to humans. Usually the Red Tide hangs around for about a week at a time. Not bad, unless you are a tourist and it happens the week you are in FL! The other 52 weeks make it all worthwile. Kind of like a Hurricane! The weather is beautiful right before and right after!

Venice, FL USA - Wednesday, April 03, 2002 at 05:53:32 (MST)DORIS, that conversation you had with the little boy was adorable ----what an imagination he has. Does he always ask you questions like that? We are all looking forward to the trip to LC next Tuesday. MARSHALL, I am sure it is easier to deal with young children ---teenagers (and I guess you were referring to teenagers) are a handful. Oh, I know what I wanted to ask you, Marshall,----is that black water they keep talking about off the coast near you----have you seen it? It sounds ugly. Hope it doesn't mess up your beaches. Betty

Venice, FL USA - Monday, April 01, 2002 at 18:09:09 (MST)Hope all of you had a very Happy Easter. We had a wonderful one. We were in the Woodlands for Easter. Charles and the boys went to the Houston Open and us girls just hung out, can you believe by the pool. Chuck had heated the pool were it really wasn't cold to get in. Jared surprised us by coming in from North Carolina. And Pam and Jenni had come with us. It is so nice to have two children who have big houses living near each other so we can all get together. Just Pennye, (the one from Fla.) wasn't there. We filled a whole pew in church. Our little two year old was soo good in church, we were so proud of him. Marshall, I have something funny to tell you. I was teaching my little 4 yr. old students the true meaning of Easter, before we started in on the Easter Bunny and I had told them how the "Bad Men" had killed Jesus on the cross and laid him in a little cave sort-of and rolled a big stone over the door and of course that after 3 days when they went back to check on Jesus He wasn't there. Well there really was no definite response from them. But a couple of days after one little boy came up to me and asked."Ms. Doris, you know when Jesus was in that cave? Well did he have a flashlight?" I thought that was good thinking, of course I really wanted to laugh, but didn't and I responded "No, Jesus is God and God can see everything even in the dark". "Well, then" he replied "Does Jesus have lights in his eyes?" These are the things that really make you wonder what goes through their little minds, huh?

USA - Saturday, March 30, 2002 at 17:32:47 (MST)Marshall, sure they cater to the consumer, but why do you think they had a Jewish presentation and not a Christan one----if people like "us" would let them know we weren't too happy perhaps we could get the ball rolling-----all of my Jewish friends have Easter baskets and chocolate bunnies for their children. Perhaps there are just more Jewish people down where you live. The Florida sunshine sounds wonderful ---it is cloudy and gloomy here today and will be tomorrow too. Betty

USA - Saturday, March 30, 2002 at 09:18:04 (MST)Good Morning all! I wish all of you could be here in FL where it is absolutely beautiful TODAY, and will be Tomorrow, and THE NEXT DAY, and THE NEXT :-) I don't think the Big Cooperations are who we should blame Betty! They only cater to the Consumer. It's kind of like "Put Christ back in CHRISTmas" We have taken the Ressurected Christ out of Easter and replaced him with the Rabbit! WE PRIESTS are probably as responsible, if not MORE RESPONSIBLE than any other Christians for allowing this to happen. We'll have to wait, watching from above (Hopefully) how well we have trained the next generation!

USA - Friday, March 29, 2002 at 17:46:15 (MST)I hope all of you have a very happy Easter and peaceful Easter season. It is so beautiful this time of year, it is easy to think of the beauty of this holy season. We are going on a field trip on April 9 to see the art exhibit in Lake Charles, which includes some of Doris'paintings. We'll have to take some more pictures to show what these Mt. Carmel "girls" are up to these days. If you wawnt more information about the trip, drop me a letter.

On another table was a setup for the Christian Celebration of Easter with books about Bunny Rabbits and Eggs! How sad!

Venice, FL USA - Friday, March 29, 2002 at 08:51:54 (MST)Thanks for all the recommendations on sitters. I'm sure we will find one in those you all suggested. My brother got a good report from a followup MRI, they found no new problems. He had a good day yesterday with the therapy and that report seems to have picked up his spirits. So he was working harder at recovery.
O. P. Ditch <op@opditch.com>
Lafayette , LA USA - Friday, March 29, 2002 at 05:10:02 (MST)OP I don't know of any volunteer sitters, but I do have a couple of names I can give to you. I'll find them tomorrow and e-mail them to you. Inexpensive sitters are scarce as hen's teeth. I went through that when Mother had her stroke in 1990 and again last year when I had the open heart surgery. It gets very costly very, very quickly. Betty

USA - Tuesday, March 26, 2002 at 21:18:20 (MST)My brother Roland is doing ok here at his house. He has had a couple of small strokes (I think they call them TIAs). But seems to be holding his own. He walks ok but his biggest problem is the loss of his sight, and some short term memory loss. The occupational therapist came yesterday and the speach therapist will come today. Does anyone know of a charity organization that does voluntary sitting in Lafayette? Or do you know of any inexpensive sitters? His wife needs to continue working, so we are looking for sitter alternatives. I'm going to call the Adult Day Care place today ( Rosewood Retirement Home). To see if that might be an alternative.

Lafayette, LA USA - Tuesday, March 26, 2002 at 09:28:12 (MST)Gerald, I enjoyed reading your summary. It was interesting to see the different careers. With few exceptions I think most of us Mt. Carmel girls became wives and mothers. Don't think the nuns did as good a job as the brothers as far as careers were concerned. But, of course, one has to remember it was the 50's and that is what women were expected to do. Boy have times changed!!!!! Betty OP, how is your brother? I was sorry to hear he had a stroke. I know they are so happy you and Shirley are in town.

It sure is nice talking over old times with all of you. Carleen's story will not be in Barbara's book. She seemed a little hesitant about having Barbara do the story. She gave a definite NO to her picture. She said here husband's religion is very private and I could tell she wasn't to hep on the idea so I called her and told her we weren't going to use it and she felt relieved. I did send a book to Betty and Avis. Thanks for all the help on addresses.

Venice, FL - Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at 17:46:54 (MST)Harvey, the link to the basketball video is at the top of this page, by the "new" button. I was able to clean out your dupes. When you add a message to the guestbook the next time, read the info about AOL at the top of the add a message page. Sometimes AOL does not let you see your message right a way because they use "proxy servers". The explanation of this is quite long so I will spare the others. Don't forget you will need to have the RealPlayer installed in your browser to see the video. There is a free one (see the button on the left).

USA - Friday, March 08, 2002 at 15:48:09 (MST)Gerald I humbly and respectfully disagree with you! The reason I thought it WAS Basil was because he DID "peek" in the direction of the camera,if ever so slightly. Remember he never did like confrontation. He'd say: "Look it!" With a quick left jab to the arm. But he would never accuse anyone. I'll have to look at it again.

Venicd, FL USA - Friday, March 08, 2002 at 12:35:03 (MST)Marshall, it's hard to tell. Brother Basil always wore that little cap, but I always thought he was a bigger man. Can't wait till you go in person O.P. and do your unique video for the H.S. site...which I know you will do! Alaska is one of my favorite States...I spent two weeks in Adak with the Naval Reserve back in the '70's. We owe a debt of gratude to Pete Gerac's dad for taking them Pete for finding them and O.P. for producing them. USA - Wednesday, March 06, 2002 at 17:41:04 (MST)Ok, I got the basketball video back from the photo shop. It is only interesting if you have high speed internet access however. Here is the URL: http://www.cathedralcarmel55.org/basketball_256.ram check it out see what you think. You will need the RealPlayer installed. Some of our gold jersey numbers are: O. P. 22, Gerald 20, Lefty 23 (famous underhanded hookshot), Harvey 21, Ray Landry 27 (two handed set shot), Pete is 25 in this movie. Very interesting if you have high speed access. I slowed it down to about half the speed. But you still have to replay it a few times to see all the great plays.

Venice, FL USA - Tuesday, March 05, 2002 at 19:37:47 (MST)Betty I was having the same problem as you until OP asked me to log off and then log on again. That did it for me. What a great picture Larry. My guesses are L to R top, Pat Roy, Ray, Daniel, Pete, Harvey (flash) Hebert (I think), Larry and Holand Hebert. L to R bottom, Gene Dugal, Blackie, Gerald, Boo Latiolais, Marshall, Rickey and Brumby Sessions. Was that the 6th grade? I believe brother Bernard was our home room teacher. What you say Marshall?

Marshall <larr1710@comcast.net>
Venicd, FL USA - Tuesday, March 05, 2002 at 16:02:03 (MST)Great picture Larry; I had forgotten all about that picture. Here's my guess
Botton Row: Gene Dugal, O.P.or Ronald, Gerald, Harold, Marshall, Rickey, Brumby, Top row: Pat Roy, Ray, Daniel, Pete, Harvey (forget his last name), Larry and Cowboy Landry. How close am I?
Marshall <larr1710@comcast.net>
Venice, FL USA - Tuesday, March 05, 2002 at 15:59:12 (MST)O.P. I am enjoying the picture of all of you (Cathedral Class of 55)which Larry sent in. I recognize some and am guessing at the rest. Four,I can't even guess. Bottom row: ? Howard, Gerald, O.P., Marshall, Rickey, Brumby TOP Row: ? Ray, Daniel, Pete, ? Larry ? How'd I do?

USA - Tuesday, March 05, 2002 at 15:20:18 (MST)Hey JJ, I received the video of the train ride up to Dead Horse. It is great. That looks like a really fun trip. We made our reservations after seeing that video. I'll get the tape back to you soon.

Woodbridge, VA USA - Tuesday, March 05, 2002 at 06:52:38 (MST)In Harvey's defense, he is visiting his parents in Lafayette. I talked to him two weeks ago. His parents are in the same house he was born in. That is amazing. The weather over here is very cold, no golf for a while. Betty thanks for the cute golf joke and the pictures are great.

Lafayette, La. USA - Sunday, March 03, 2002 at 11:24:46 (MST)I received some more pictures from Doris of the Mt. Carmel Girls Luncheon @ Don's. I have added them to Bettys pictures on the link on the front page. Check them out. Hey Harvey, you still there?

Woodbridge, VA USA - Sunday, March 03, 2002 at 08:05:57 (MST)O.P. You just don't know what a leap it was!!!!!!! And this morning I was trying to get rid of the pictures I didn't want and guess what I ERASED ALL OF THEM. Now I have to download them from the camera again. But that is good practice (I guess). Glad you all enjoyed the pictures. We are meeting Carleen and Phil and Patsy and Howard at Don's tonight for some more GOOD FOOD. Betty

Venice, FL USA - Saturday, March 02, 2002 at 12:55:53 (MST)Oh yes, thanks Betty, for the pictures. If you would have to wait for my "Snail Pictures" the ones I have to have developed and than scan and all it would take forever. We did have a fun time.
Doris Provost
USA - Saturday, March 02, 2002 at 06:49:33 (MST)Marshall, notice that we have a new e-mail address. I didn't get the letter you forwarded from Jibber. He told me about it. Betty, thank you for the effort it took to scan and send the pictures to O.P. We did have a good time at Don's. It takes one person to coordinate things. Thanks, Patsy. And, as always, thanks, O.P.

USA - Saturday, March 02, 2002 at 06:41:53 (MST)Well, did I scare everyone away with the privacy issue? I hope not. Did you all see the pictures of the Girls that Betty sent in. That was quite a technology leap for Betty to download and email those photos. I thought there would be some comments about the. I know Rickey can't see the popups on the first page, but I think everyone else can see them.

Woodbridge, VA USA - Saturday, March 02, 2002 at 06:00:21 (MST)Betty, about finding the guestbook on Google Search engine. The only pages on our site that are not somehow visible on the internet (to the best of my knowledge) are the class listings. Those pages are password protected. So any other page on the web site could show up on the internet search engines somehow. I made the decision not to password protect the guestbook because it would be more difficult for people to check into the guestbook. It would deter some from using it. So, just to remind everyone, THIS GUESTBOOK IS NOT PRIVATE. Sorry.

Woodbridge, VA USA - Thursday, February 28, 2002 at 06:22:13 (MST)O.P. The Mac-Medic came by just this morning and gave me a lesson. Then this afternoon I spent the WHOLE AFTERNOON getting x-rays and then seeing the doctor. Got a good report. My lungs have shown a marked improvement since the x-ray last Thursday. I will try to send something tonight if I get a burst of energy---if not, I will do it tomorrow (if I can remember what to do). ALSO, did you see my question about seeing one of my letters on that Google website.

USA - Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at 18:29:13 (MST)Betty, what happened to the pictures you took last Friday? I'm waiting.... Haven't you learned how to download that new digital camera yet?

Woodbridge, VA USA - Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at 17:21:03 (MST)Our prayers will also go out to Avis. With Charlene's help anything is possible. It's almost like we are in the Cathedral praying for each other. Girls on the left boys on the right. Was that 50 years ago? We are in Houston Texas with our daughter, son-in-law and their two grandchildren 6/3. They just left with the boy 6 and we will babysit the girl 3 while they attend the Rodeo. It is very cold 20's and will warm up tomorrow when we will all go. What a wonderful time in our life we are very greatful for our blessings.
Gerald Reaux <ggrpsr@aol.com>
Lafayette, La. USA - Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at 16:43:40 (MST)Just heard that Avis might be going home from the hospital today. Don't know what that means for her recovery. Also, Patsy just wrote to me that Doris is having her paintings in an art show from April 5-30 in Lake Charles. We're going to try to go see it.

Woodbridge, VA USA - Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at 13:16:46 (MST)You are so right Marshall and Brenda! Doesn't it make us feel like one big family? We are trully blessed to have each other as such wonderful friends in times of need.
Doris
USA - Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at 12:51:55 (MST)Rickey, I've tried to send you Avis'address, but it won't go through your e-mail. O.P., can you send it to him, if you got the one I forwarded you? I didn't think I should put her address on this website as it can be accessed so easilly. You're right, Marshall. A few years ago, we might have heard about
Avis, but not felt it so communally, nor been able to pray about these needs together. I had not thought of that before. What a gift!
Brenda
USA - Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at 12:21:45 (MST)Avis likewise added to my Mass intentions. Who would have ever predicted as Seniors in H.S., that 47 years later we would be praying together for eachother, much less even knowing if we were still alive! God is good giving us the mind to develop the internet! Talking about minds, if you have not seen the movie "Beautiful Mind", I recommend it highly! I go to about ONE movie a year, this was mine for 2002. It's a true story. Bring your crying towels along.

Venice, FL USA - Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at 12:04:24 (MST) I to am sorry to hear about Avis. Would someone send me her address so I can send her a Charlene book. I know the little girl has an inside tract to God. She has helped so many people, many people we know. Barbara's new book has more of her "cures". I don't know if she will every be procalimed a saint but I do know she is special with God.

Lafayette, La USA - Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at 07:44:15 (MST)Sorry to hear about Avis. I guess that is why we haven't heard from her in a while. I have added Doris's prayer to Charlene on our "Prayer Page". Please check it out and print it out and say it often.

USA - Tuesday, February 26, 2002 at 20:32:52 (MST)Just read some back letters and saw that Gerald identified Dillard's band, The Dukes of Dixieland. Sorry about that.
Brenda
USA - Tuesday, February 26, 2002 at 14:50:07 (MST)Rickey, you do have a good memory. Dillard's band had the name Dixieland in it. I dated him as we were both majoring in music at S.L.I. His last name was Merrill, I think. Betty just wrote me with bad news about Avis being seriously ill. I hope she will find out more and keep us posted. We can begin praying for her as we are our other friends.
Brenda
USA - Tuesday, February 26, 2002 at 14:40:47 (MST)Right, it was the Peacock. I think the Buccaneer was a dance hall in St. Martinsville, where they danced the two step up and down a very long dance floor. I remember that we were invulnerable. The trips back to the Peacock should have killed all of us. Under the present posture of law enforcement DWI went from an excusable prank to a serious misdemeanor or in the case of some repeat offenders, a major felony.
J. J. Erny <jerny@cajunnet.com>
Larose, LA USA - Tuesday, February 26, 2002 at 14:19:49 (MST)Hi gang. Gerald I remember the Peacock well. I don't remember Phil Comeaux playing there. I remember Dillard Meryl, Buddy Cutier, and Buddy Theall. I don't remember the name of the band. I could be wrong. You know when you get to the golden years your memory kind of fades. We did have a great time at the old Peacock. Do you remember a fight in the girls restroom. All the boys rushed in to watch. I don't know if it was to watch the fight or to see what the inside of a girls restroom looked like. I remember the dancing was great. The only ones I remember dancing was you and Doris. Of course you and Doris danced everywhere. Boy what a great time in our lives.

Lafayette, La USA - Tuesday, February 26, 2002 at 07:38:49 (MST)GERALD, thanks for the explanation. Paul Newman is right, YOU HAVE TO BE TOUGH WHEN YOU GET OLD!!!!!!!!!!!! There isn't anything easy about getting sick and going to all these doctor appointments and having tests run!!!!!!
Betty
USA - Monday, February 25, 2002 at 19:18:05 (MST)Betty, Phil Comeaux was the manager of the Modernairs and is now the owner of Acadiana Pharmacy. His band played throughout this area for many years. I remember he told me that his band would get $100.00 per person and that he would insist that collection be made prior to playing a note. He went to Cathedral and graduated two years before us. Sounds like you girls are all feeling better. Remember what Paul Newman said "old age is not for wimps". Ha, ha.
Gerald Reaux <ggrpsr@aol.com>
Lafayette, La. USA - Monday, February 25, 2002 at 17:56:07 (MST)GERALD, is Phil Comeaux of the Modernairs, the same Phil Comeaux who has the Acadiana Prescription Shop in the Oil Center. I have been wondering about that for a long time. They really did play good music. They never did refuse to serve us girls a drink either (but, of course, we were with you guys!!! generally). Back in those days girls didn't go to nightclubs alone---heaven forbid!!!!!Betty

Anyway, up popped one of my letters to the Cath/Carmel55 Guestbook. Do you know that all these messages are right up there for the world to see???? I guess I thought it was "private" since people had to sign up with you to see the website. Just curious. The world can see how much fun we are having!!!!!!!

USA - Monday, February 25, 2002 at 08:44:09 (MST)Friday Doris and I drove to Lafayette from our respective cities to meet a few old friends at Don's Seafood Inn for lunch. You might recognize them: Betty, Carleen, Patsy, Mary Anthony, and Jeanette. No one has changed at all. Betty and Carleen looked pretty healthy to me. We looked at pictures of children and grandchildren and discussed the old Mt. Carmel days. Betty, Doris and I couldn't get any takers for the website. They are either not computer literate or don't appreciate how interesting it is. Betty took some pictures so maybe you'll be seeing them soon.
Brenda
USA - Sunday, February 24, 2002 at 07:07:19 (MST)That was quite a night at the Peacock. I remember having a number of drinks in front of me when "the law" examined our table. I remember they checked my drivers license but they never asked why I had ordered so many drinks. I think they gave us a break. After all Mr. Ard the owner knew the police and liked us so much that we would receive a bottle of champagne everytime anyone had a birthday regardless of the year. They had the best dancing music. Phil Comeaux and the "Modernairs" with Ernie Saurez singing and playing the piano just like Fats Domino. "The Dukes of Dixieland" were also very good. The Peacock was located between Lafayette and Broussard on the old airport road. Those were good days and will live in my memory forever.

Yeah J.J. I do remember. But it was the Peacock
Inn, not the Buccaneer. And I was a year younger
than the rest of you guys--the beer bottle was as tall
as I was. Had a date with Barbara Burdin. I
could see it now..."Dr. Burdin, this is the La.
State police--can you come pick up your daughter
etc...That was my last date with her. But we
lived in exciting times..and if it wasn't exciting
enough we did something to spice it up..but
that's another story.

Breaux Bridge, LA USA - Thursday, February 21, 2002 at 07:46:23 (MST)Another Medicare Moment. I did not realize that this group is of such an advanced age. I am of course, a mere child compared to all of this card carrying medicare group. Remember the Buccaneer club out on highway 90, right pass the airport. One night the State Police raided the place for underage drinking. Every drink at the table magically appeared in from of Gerald. He was the only one at the table that was 18. We were terrified that we would be arrested and have to explain that to our parents.

Larose, LA USA - Thursday, February 21, 2002 at 05:52:07 (MST)Lita and I took the Alaskan cruise two years ago. It was fun. There were blue glaciers, bears, whales, seals and small towns. The inside passage is great. Outside was something else. It got so rough that we could see a 65 foot fishing vessel sink its bow into the water and the water would cover the bow and run along the deck, next to the cabin and off of the stern of the boat. We were comfortable in the large ship. They had great food, just did not know how to cook. Bring a supply of Tabasco as a survival spice. I should not complain. No one cooks as well as we do. Do not waste our money of a large cabin. You will spend very little time in the cabin. If you stop at Skagway take the train to the top of Dead Horse. Pete I did not know you were into model trains, send pictures.

Larose, LA USA - Thursday, February 21, 2002 at 05:33:46 (MST)Happy Birthday, Doris! I just reread ALL of the messages we have gotten on the site since Jan. 1, 2002. It took me quite a long time. However, I enjoyed it and then realized that tomorrow is Doris' birthday. It also reminded me that we need to hear from J.J., Henrietta, Larry, and Minette again. It is so nice to have Pete and Harvey as contributors. Patsy and Rosella, if you are reading this, you MUST respond. It's like listening to public radio and not paying for it!!! And who knows what happened to Avis, one of our most interesting contributors?
Brenda
USA - Wednesday, February 20, 2002 at 19:31:14 (MST)Happy to have Pete as a reader (and writer) now. By the way, Pete, do you know Robbie Giroir from Baton Rouge? He has one room in his house dedicated to his trains also. I heard today that Ena Claire Landry Henry's father died and was buried today in Lafayette. I don't know how many of us still have a father living at this late date. Her mother and father were married 72 years when he died Sunday.

I will be looking for that film and will try to get it on the Web. Also, If anyone is still interested in the Alaska Cruise, I have put up some pictures of the ship and some bit of info on prices. Lafayette, La. USA - Wednesday, February 20, 2002 at 15:59:12 (MST)Good hearing from you Pete. Looking forward to seeing the pictures. You probably met a college friend of mine at the convention in St. Louis at the hobby railroad convention. He had the Train Schedules memorized for the ENTIRE UNITED STATES when he was in college! He as priest from the Cincinatti Diocese I think.
Sorry I can't help you out with that Title for Mary Betty. My hunch is that Brenda is probably right...it's probably a title from another country.

Venice, FL USA - Wednesday, February 20, 2002 at 15:33:20 (MST)Got several e-mails wanting me to join the group, so here I am. You wanted to know a little about me. Sandy (Colomb) and I are doing great. We have lived in Huntsville, AL for almost 20 years. I retired in Jan 1999 from a computer company here in Huntsville. We have two boys, Tim and Peter. Tim lives in Marble Falls, TX and has 3 boys and 1 girl. Peter lives in Houston, TX and has 2 girls and 1 boy. Since I retired we have done quite a bit of traveling. We went to Florida, Canadian Rocky Mountains, Smokey Mountains and Branson, MO and other places. My hobby is model railroading, and I have a room 20' by 25' with a model railroad layout. I spend a lot of time with the model railroad, as it is something that will never be finished and its quite and peaceful to work in that environment. We have gone to several model railroad shows like the National Convention in St. Louis last summer. Of course we go to Texas to spend some time with the kids. Since dad died in July 2000 we don't get to Lafayette as often as we did.
Will put together some pictures of our family and put them on the web.
I just sent O.P. a roll of film on one of our high school basketball games. Hope he is able to put it on the web.
OK, that a start, I'll try to keep up with the groups messages. Be patient as I don't spend a lot of time of the computer any more.

USA - Wednesday, February 20, 2002 at 11:56:52 (MST)Just thought I would let all of you know that Barbara has interviewed Carleen and will have her the next Charlene book. She is sending a photographer to her house to take pictures. Carleen told Barbara that she didn't know Charlene before the reunion and she got the book and read it and felt a bonding to the little girl. Her next book should be coming out at the end of the summer I hope. I have signed up for the Alaska tour with OP. I am really looking forward to it. Of course we had to have a ship that was internet accessible. OP brings his equipment everwhere. We often take trips together. I missed the one to San Diego. I'm glad I did because the 9-11 incidnet. They had to stay about 4 or 5 days longer and then drive a rental car home. Gerald will remember that trip for a long time.

Woodbridge, VA USA - Monday, February 18, 2002 at 07:17:46 (MST)HARVEY, I do remember the street flooding and everyone playing in the water ----except me ----Mother wouldn't let me because she thought I'd catch a disease or something. I can remember all the neighborhood kids splashing and really having fun. I still can't figure out where you lived. If we are ever all at Black's again you and I will have to walk a block and a half and try to figure it out. All the houses are still there I believe. DORIS, you have a great memory. I think Patsy might be the youngest - I was 64 in Sept. Janet DeClouet called me while I was in Texas --- I will return her call and catch up with her and then let you know how she is - she said she'd talked to Jeanette and she may have been in town for Mardi Gras. After mass this morning Billy and I had to go to Albertsons. We ran into Boring Domingue, Mary Anthony's husband. Boring said that Mary hadn't been feeling well, took a stress test, flunked and they found 50% blockage in one artery. The doctor is going to monitor her and no surgery is planned at the present time. Perhaps you all knew this ---I didn't.

USA - Sunday, February 17, 2002 at 12:58:41 (MST)Well in our class I believe it is Jeanette who is the ..ahem.. ELDEST! Her birthday was Oct. the 19th. I think mabe Patsy is the youngest because she was just 64 in Nov. Unless someone has a birthday after her that I don't remember. By the way tomorrow is, I think, Rosemary's birthday, than the 19th is Virginia's, the 20th is Maugie's and than the 21st is mine. I remember all these birthdays because we had birthdays in the class one after the other for 3 or 4 days. Happy Birthday Brenda. I didn't remember your birthday being in Feb. too. Hope you guys had a very Happy Valentine. We had a wild week-end. Mitch and Crispin came with Nick(2yr.old) and their 4 month old puppy. Our dog didn't like the invasion one bit. Charles' birthday was yesterday,he beats us all guys, he was 67!!! Mitch and Crispin always come on the week-end between our birthdays to celebrate with us. I really wish they would come more often, but with both of them working, I know it is hard. So we end up going over there more.

Brenda. It's nice to know that someone is young enough to still celebrate birthdays. I kind of look the other way when it's my birthday. Maybe that's something OP could put on the web page. A list of all of our birthdays. Where has time gone. My memory has gotten so bad that I have to ask Barbara how a movie ended two weeks after we've seen it. Old age is not all it's cracked up to be.

USA - Saturday, February 16, 2002 at 18:34:47 (MST)Gerald, your 25th wedding anniversary is your Silver anniversary and your 50th is your Golden anniversary. Isn't it great to have Harvey as an additional contributor to the site? O.P., what was your grandchild eating? I presume it was baby food and not cajun food. He's a doll! By the way, I think I'm one of the oldest in the class. I had my 65th birthday yesterday. It was a great day!

USA - Saturday, February 16, 2002 at 10:06:01 (MST)I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day. Betty, I don't remember a cemetary. I do remember when it rained we used the street in the front of the house for a swimming pool. As I said , I don't remember a whole lot, except a pretty little girl next door named Betty. I received a call from an old Viet Nam buddy of mine. He said my old unit has a web site. Have not seen or spoken to any of these people for 37 years. Gerald, thanks for pushing me to get a computer. This has opened up a whole new world. Marshall, I totally agree with your premise, LIVE ON. Talk to y'all later.
Harvey <HCBrous@aol.com>
USA - Friday, February 15, 2002 at 16:29:37 (MST)Why do they call it the golden years when you are married for 50 years it's called your silver anniversary? I believe Doris will be the first to reach that cherished penical. Marshall you will only qualify for one. This must be a good subject got lots of feed back, ha, ha.

Woodbridge, VA USA - Thursday, February 14, 2002 at 18:25:06 (MST)That was my nickname "Betty Boop" - most of my cousins called me "Boop" ---some still do. Betty
Betty
USA - Thursday, February 14, 2002 at 18:18:15 (MST)I think that might be a picture of me. Betty OP where in the world did you get that picture? Harvey, I can't believe you lived next door to me and I don't remember. Did you live in the white house near the cemetery? I am OK - thanks for all the "concern" ----just today I went down to the Kerrville Telephone Co. and got on their internet service so I now have unlimited time ---my laptop is AOL and from Kerrville each time you log on its long distance so that is why you all weren't hearing from me. Marshall, that was a lovely Valentine Day message ------is that what your "sermons" are like? Very thought provoking. Betty OP I want to know where you got that picture!!!!! When I get home I will take some pictures of Carleen ---Patsy may have already done it ---I still have to take instructions on how to work that digital camera I received for Christmas. Happy Valentine's Day. Betty

USA - Thursday, February 14, 2002 at 18:15:40 (MST)These are our Golden Years and, statistically, we could live to be in our 90's, which is almost THIRTY more years. The challenge of these Golden years is to live healthily which IS in our power, as Doris said. However, as Cajuns, it's hard to eat well and eat good Cajun food.
Brenda
USA - Thursday, February 14, 2002 at 15:50:50 (MST)You guys sure are brave talking like that. Well, Shirley & I are in Stella, NC visiting with my Son, Daughter-in-law, and Grandson Jacob. So we are on the road again. You could say we are acting young Doris with all this traveling. I even brought my golf clubs in case it warms up enough. Happy Valentines day to all.

Let's keep in touch for we are in our golden years and they won't last forever.

Venice, FL USA - Tuesday, February 12, 2002 at 12:25:36 (MST)If I Knew
If I knew it would be the last time That I'd see you fall asleep, I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.
If I knew it would be the last time that I see you walk out the door, I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.
If I knew it would be the last time, I could spare an extra minute to stop and say "I love you,"
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.
If I knew it would be the last time I would be there to share your day, I'd find more time to spend with you before I let it slip away.
For surely there's always tomorrow to make up for an oversight, and we always get a second chance
to make everything just right.
There will always be another day to say "I love you," and certainly there's another chance to say our "Anything I can do?" But just in case I might be wrong, and today is all I get, I'd like to say how much I love you and I hope we never forget.
Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, young or old alike, you get to hold your loved one tight. So if you're waiting for tomorrow, why not do it today? For if tomorrow never comes, you'll surely regret the day, that you didn't take that extra time for a smile, a hug, or a kiss and you were too busy to grant someone, what turned out to be their one last wish.
So hold your loved ones close today, and whisper in their ear, Tell them how much you love them and that you'll always hold them dear. Take time to say "I'm sorry," "Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay, I forgive you". And if tomorrow never comes, you'll have no regrets about today.
Marshall <larr1710@comcast.net>
Venice, FL USA - Tuesday, February 12, 2002 at 12:23:49 (MST)Harvey finally has joined the class web site, Yea! We did put a little pressure on him but he came through. Congratulations to Laura O.P., must get her skills from her Paw Paw. We have been celebrating Mardi Gras and renovating two rent houses lately. I will get back in the swing of things soon. Lafayette, La USA - Monday, February 11, 2002 at 18:47:40 (MST)Well, I was right! Betty is in Kerrville. I guess when she doesn't write in we just have to presume that that is where she is. She said she can't get on the internet over there. Se we just have to wait until she comes home. Patsy said Carleen looks great and seems to have a lot of energy. GOD IS GOOD!!

USA - Monday, February 11, 2002 at 16:32:44 (MST)Let me join in in the welcoming, Harvey. This sure is fun. Since O.P. has done this for us I feel so much closer to you guys. Kinda like one big family, huh? Hey, O.P. coming out second is great!! The ones of my grandchildren who played ball are out of it now, except for the one in Florida. And he plans to come to U.L.L. and hopefully play baseball like his Dad did. It will be fun to go to a college game in which your grandchild plays. Can't wait. Brenda I too am worried about Betty. I have sent her a couple of e-mails and no response. Mabe she is in Texas. I may call Patsy afterwhile. I will let you know.

USA - Monday, February 11, 2002 at 15:05:06 (MST)Nice to have you as a contributor to the web site, Harvey. It will take you weeks to see EVERYTHING on it. Keep writing! Betty, I'm worried that we haven't heard from you in a while. I hope you are well. Henrietta, I drove past your old home site yesterday when I was in Lafayette. It seems like the Little Theater was very near your home in the old days. Am I right? O.P., congratulations on your granddaughter's team's performance in the tournament. Isn't it fun and exciting to watch sporting events with your kids and grandchildren in them, particularly big games like those. Doris, my friend and I tried water painting this morning. It's not easy. I think I'll stick to oils, you have more control. Well,Happy Valentines Day to all of you!

Woodbridge, VA USA - Monday, February 11, 2002 at 11:42:16 (MST)Hello from San Antonio. Yes Gerald, I finally purchased a computer; however, it required some time to build up my confidence level to the point where I felt somewhat comfortable using it. Still not real sure, but what the heck, have to start sometime. O.P., your site is fantastic. Enjoyed everything from Black's, Ray's, and football game. Was a great trip-thanks for inviting me. My prayers for everyone-Betty,Carleen, Minetta, Boo's wife. Hope I did not miss anyone. Betty, you are correct, there was an open field accross from where we lived. I lived next door to you in Abbeville for a short time before moving to Lafayette. Only spent a few months in the 4th grade there. I honestly don't remember anyone in the class. Maybe a few names might ring a bell. If anyone visits San Antonio, please let me know. (210)946-3521. My sister will be visiting me Feb 15-20. I will drive her back to Lafayette on the 21st and spend a week or so there. Looking forward to some golf and great food. HAPPY VALENINE'S DAY TO EVERYONE.

Yes, that's my picture (Pewee)and proof that Mt. Carmel was right across the street. I was happy to be the smallest one in the class because we usually lined up according to size for a lot of things (it didn't take much to make me happy).

Lafayette, La USA - Tuesday, February 05, 2002 at 21:22:37 (MST)Boy this web page has really gown since the last time I was on it. What ever happened to Luke Guidry. I remember that he has a web site around the reunion in Lafayette and I wrote to him but got no answer. We had a ball at Black's for the mini-reunion. It was nice seeing Marshall and all the others who were there. Hey girls when you go to Richard to visit the grave why don't you give Barbara a call and she can go with you and tell you all about the little saint. Maybe she will even be able to introduce yall to Mrs. Richard. She like going there. It's just a suggestion. Larry what are you doing not that you retired? I haven't seen you since the reunion. I have a lot of catching up to do before I'm really up to date with all of you. Betty I'm glad to hear that you are doing better.
Rickey <Rickey35@hotmail.com>
Lafayette, La USA - Tuesday, February 05, 2002 at 07:23:31 (MST)Hey great hearing from you Larry. Thanks for confirming my memories. You only threw the ball back hard when you were mad Larry! Like when I was pitching lousy! Reading the Gospel for Mass today on the feast of St. Agatha, I was reminded of Charlene. The Gospel was Christ curing the 12 year old girl! Betty, next time you all go to Richard, you might want to introduce yourselves to Fr. Edwards. He is Fr. Roy Edwards' Nephew, I think his name is Daniel?
Marshall <larr1710@home.com>
Venice, FL USA - Tuesday, February 05, 2002 at 06:26:55 (MST)Ok, welcome to Larry Miller! and welcome back to Rickey. If this Internet Appliance works ok for Rickey, we should try to get some others in the class on one like it. How about Carleen or Suzanne? This intenet appliance is pretty simple to operate (no, I won't say "if Rickey can operate it, anyone can... ha" that would not be nice, so I won't say it....he he). Betty, I had made a video of our wedding pictures about 10 years ago when I got my first video camera. I found the video when we moved. I will try to shorten it and put it on the net. Of course everyone knows that they didn't have video cameras back in those brownie camera days, right... ha.

Woodbridge, VA USA - Tuesday, February 05, 2002 at 04:43:26 (MST).P. I don't know why no one has responded to my wedding questions. Guess they just aren't as curious as I am ---I just thought it would be fun. Why don't you start the ball rolling ---when did you and Shirley get married, etc.
Larry, it was good to see you on the message page.
And Ricky ---you too. Doris and I were corresponding one day about going to Richard, La. to Charlene's gravesite when I mentioned that we needed a prayer----so I asked Doris if she would write one ----I knew she would do a much better job than I could have done---she wrote the prayer, etc. We ---Patsy, Doris, Suzanne and I went to Richard, La. and went to Charlene's tomb and I read the prayer out loud---I have to tell you it really choked me up. I had a hard time reading it. Anyway, you will have to ask Doris more about the actual writing of the prayer. Betty

USA - Monday, February 04, 2002 at 21:50:57 (MST)"Father, forgive me for I knew not that I was hurting your poor little hand".Yes we did win City Championships when we were in grade school and yes it was at the S.P. playground. Don't know for sure, but I think my mother may have some pictures of back then. I'll check. Maybe O. P. could do something with the pictures.
About the girls picture--and I want to thank Betty for doing this--the girls in the backrow are Taylor Angelle(l)and Macy Jeanne(r),my son Marshall's girls.
The middle girl is Mallory Camille Landry,my daughter Margaret"s girl. The twins are Claudia Marie(l)and Dulcie Jane and are my son Myron's girls.Claudia was named after my mother and my wifes first name,Marie. Dulcie Jane was named after
her great grandmother, grandmother and her mother.
So now the mystery is solved. Thanks to everyone who commented on how precious they are.

There is one going from May 27th - June 3 . A 7 day cruise. Waterfalls, whales, bald eagles, brown bears. The twin on the left as you look at the picture is named after her grandmother, Claudia (who is the most wonderful person on earth) and the baby looks like Mrs. Miller. They are really precious. I'll check with Camille, Larry's wife, to make sure the two older girls aren't twins---just to be sure---I don't want to give your erroneous information. Larry, if you read this set us straight. I would have never seen the art gallery if Betty had not mentioned it. It seems that we now have a wealth of things to look at so I hope we don't miss anything. Larry Miller's beautiful grand daughters were a treat. I would never have guess who they were.

Lafayette, La USA - Friday, February 01, 2002 at 11:34:56 (MST)Brenda, I don't talk to Janet very often, but each time I do I ask her when she is going to get on her computer and check this out. I know Gene, her late husband, had all the computer equipment one needed, but she doesn't want to use a computer. The last time I spoke with her or was it a Christmas card ---can't remember---she was doing fine. She was still going out with Tom. There was some talk of them marrying, but he was diagnosed with cancer so that is possibly on hold right now. She and Pete do go to the same church and I think she sees him occasionally. If Janet comes to Lafayette I never hear from her. I'll have to ask Jeanette ---I think they phone each other regularly. Betty Oh, the next time you come to Lourdes come by and see me ---I live 2 blocks away on Myrtle Blvd. In Myrtle Square - a small gated-spot. I'll get Carleen and Patsy and a few others over and we can have a coke or coffee and visit. Betty

USA - Friday, February 01, 2002 at 09:15:50 (MST)Brenda, there is no way I could have a dinner party right now ---I can hardly make it through the day without having two or three rest periods. Just the thought of setting the table wears me out!!!!!!!!!No, we went out to dinner. I am just not up to entertaining at home. Its so much easier when Billy "cooks" (that is my way of referring to him taking us out.) Aren't those little girls beautiful ---I am disqualified since I know who they are.Betty

USA - Friday, February 01, 2002 at 09:05:12 (MST)Minette, Yippee!!! It was great to read that you are getting well after having TWO bypasses. I hope you never have to go through that again. It must require a complete change of lifestyle with healthy eating and exercise. Betty, does that mean that YOU did the cooking and entertaining for 6 couples? I know what goes into that and, if John were not the cook, we wouldn't entertain very much. My guess for the beautiful girls is Pete Gerac's grandchildren. I wish he would write us a letter and let us know how he and his family are doing. Also, he told me that he and Janet DeClouet attend the same parish church. Maybe he could fill us in about her.

Baton Rouge, USA - Friday, February 01, 2002 at 08:24:11 (MST)Ok, I guess you all need a hint on the five little girls. The grandfather was in the Cathedral Class of '55 and he hasn't written in the guestbook that I can remember. They are friends of Betty and she sent me the picture. Any more guesses? Oh, he was at the 2000 reunion and is in one of the pictures. That ought to get you going..... he he.
